Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1123: Chapter 621: The Operation Begins

The hazy dawn emerged from the horizon, the last rays of the summer had long vanished, the sea breeze, carrying a chill of autumn, swept in, offering little warmth but instead a sense of desolation.

A large group of people in uniform attire had already gathered on the vacant land outside the town of Hamlet at this time.

While police reform was underway, some small details were also being attended to.

For instance, the unified new uniforms, which ended the previous chaos of sheriffs providing their own attire, and also the making of police badges.

This process actually began a long time ago; the police uniform design drew inspiration from some excellent designs. The most important aspect was to make the wearer appear dignified and competent.

Previously, since Hamlet’s production capacity was devoted to making military uniforms, this task was temporarily put aside, leading to the situation where sheriffs’ attire was not uniform.

The style of the police badge was that of a shield, with a design of a city wall on it, which was essentially the family crest of Hamlet with the crow removed and slightly modified.

Among the craftsmen that Hamlet received, there was a group specializing in gold and silver jewelry making; their task was to produce these.

Transforming a copper ingot into a police badge involved many processes, as they were handmade and thus limited in production capacity, but this craftsmanship also endowed these badges with another precious significance.

And now, both police uniforms and badges had accumulated sufficiently during this period and could be distributed.

The reason for today’s gathering was precisely to distribute brand new police uniforms and award the badges.

At such an important ceremony, Lance personally appeared here, awarding them the badges one by one, leading them in the oath, and reiterating the significance of their existence and the responsibilities of this profession.

”I swear!”

”I swear...”

Lance did not use [Enchanting Voice], yet the shouted words still stirred the hearts of those police officers, with a heavy sense of responsibility forging an unyielding will.

When the morning sun rose at the edge of the sky, the scattered sunlight illuminated the uniform formation and those matching uniforms, giving the entire squad an invigorated feeling.

Lance looked at the assembled police squad, quite satisfied at heart.

There were almost two hundred regular police officers here, compared to before it had nearly doubled, and this was not including those auxiliary officers.

This was the maximum he could muster with the resources he had at the shortest time, still previously commencing police training and having a reservoir of talents.

The previous sheriffs were all trained at the same training ground, following the same training process, only after the military picked did it fall to them.

But later Lance noticed something was amiss because the responsibilities and focuses of the two were not the same.

While the military learned how to kill and how to manipulate more weapons for more effective killing.

The police, though they needed to learn combat, mainly focused on the pursuit and subduing of criminals. The core skills required were law, criminal investigation, security management, and emergency response abilities...

Likewise, the trainees should choose based on their interests whether to become police officers maintaining public security or join the military.

Hence, a specialized police training was set up, beginning the relevant courses, and indeed, everything must be planned in advance, or without Lance’s prior decision, it would have been difficult to gather even a hundred people.

William was so exhausted because he also took on this aspect, as there really were no teachers, only a few outstanding sheriffs filling in when they had time.

There were not even textbooks, only using case files for classes; fortunately, there were professionals teaching literacy, physical, and combat courses, or it would have been more troublesome.

But it was thanks to their silent dedication that Lance was able to muster so many people in a short time, though still a bit short of his expectations, but at this moment, it was sufficient.

The gathering for awarding badges did not mean that Lance only planned to do that one thing.

He immediately told those police officers about the security pressure faced by Hamlet, the numerous spies causing sabotage, stealing internal secrets, and so on.

”Operation code ’Rat Extermination,’ find those rats hidden in Hamlet, and use them to fire the first shot of our police force.

Tell those guys that Hamlet isn’t easy to bully, and tell Hamlet’s residents that with you here, order will prevail.”

”Justice and clarity, order prevails!”

The police force responded in unison with the slogan engraved on the back of their badges, symbolizing the Lord’s expectations for them.

And now they were mobilized under the Lord’s command.

”I await your good news,” Lance waved his hand grandly, ”Action!”

Lance declared the action, but it wasn’t a chaotic rush forward.

The related operations had been planned for days. Several chiefs and William compiled them based on the intelligence gathered, Lance was responsible for the approval, and he did not intervene excessively.

Because this operation was also Lance’s examination of them, their performance would determine their score.

Even before dawn, those mid-level officers had already assembled, each chief assigning tasks, essentially eliminating the possibility of action leaks.

Now those mid-level officers took over their respective squads, then briefly explained the task content and objectives to each.

In fact, many police officers had participated in parts; only now, when it was all integrated, did they realize that the people they’d previously monitored were spies.
