Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1022: Chapter 570: The Time Has Come—Rise Up Today!

But at this moment, the Fishmen invasion broke out without warning. Although the monsters were repelled, the coast was now sealed off.

Fortunately, it was late at night and everyone had returned to the port, or else who knows how many fishermen would have been buried at sea along with their boats.

However, the situation wasn’t much better; unable to fish at sea, their family’s income was immediately cut off. They were just seeing some improvement, and now their family assets could be said to be nothing but a few salted fish.

If they can’t pay this month’s money back, their previous efforts would go to waste, no wonder they are engulfed in despair.

Luckily, the Lord has not given up on them and has implemented a policy to postpone the loan repayment deadline, giving them a chance to breathe.

The pressure on this family has been quite significant lately, and now finally here comes a piece of good news.

”How long can it be postponed for? The boat will rot if it stays in the water unused...”

But the woman quickly becomes worried again because without solving the root problem, even a one or two-month delay won’t help.

Compared to the woman’s pessimism, the man is much more positive because he spent all day outside handling affairs and knows that it’s not that simple.

”My Lord will deal with those monsters; we must believe in the Lord. Plus, preparations are being made for outpost construction and wilderness development. There’s plenty of work, I will sign up tomorrow.”

Upon hearing this, the woman also realized something. She heard the neighboring gossip about this during the day and didn’t pay much attention then but remembers it now.

”I heard some odd jobs also pay two copper coins a day, I’ll go too...”

Living here indicates that most of these people are fishermen, or workers related to shipyards and docks.

Lance plans to revive the docks, using them as a key to break through the predicament surrounding Hamlet, thus dedicating much effort to this aspect by training a lot of literate people.

However, the appearance of the Deep Divers sealed off the harbor docks, leading to the immediate unemployment of many fishermen, and many other workers becoming idle.

This means that a large workforce is unemployed, and those in management positions also lost their jobs, leaving it unchecked would be dangerous.

For this, Lance directly mobilized people, as long as there is work, they won’t fall into anxiety. Likewise, this large-scale project tests capabilities, perhaps Lance can unexpectedly find some management talents in it.

Just draw cards; as long as the base is large enough, you are bound to draw what you want.

......

In the wealthy area of Ovando City, a party is being held. Even night cannot deter their enjoyment, conversely, it’s when their pleasure truly begins.

The so-called ”gentlemen and ladies” mingling are all dressed in luxurious attire adorned with intricate accessories that are astonishing.

The tabletop is laid with a variety of exquisite food, seemingly untouched, as everyone focuses on socializing, swirling wine as bright as blood in their glasses.

Outside, countless people starve while the food they dare not even dream of here merely serves as a display, somewhat ironically.

But as time goes on, the atmosphere on the stage grows increasingly subtle, for the second half is a masquerade.

The attendants who were wandering in the hall retreat, only to return in gender-separated rows holding trays, not of wine but masks.

With masks donned, disguises are torn away, along with cumbersome attire, stripping away humanity too. A carnival like an evil cult ritual is happening...maybe?

Lance, watching from the second floor, doesn’t continue to appreciate it, unable to see any artistic value, just an eyesore.

The twisted humanity makes Lance feel uncomfortable.

But he understands why one must bring a partner to such Western-style parties.

Not being called to a party win, huh? Time to punch hard!

Lance descends from upstairs, unnoticed by the insane crowd. But, descending the stairs, someone wants to get close to him, as he isn’t only tall but handsome.

”Hey handsome...”

”Crack!”

Lance reaches out and snaps the neck, the tilted head still somewhat unresponsive.

Without a glance, Lance sacrifices them directly, then rushes into the crowd barehanded.

Why should ordinary people suffer hunger, despair, and family destruction while they indulge here?

Nature gives to humans, humans give nothing back to nature, kill kill kill kill kill kill kill!!!

...

Outside, the patrolling guards seem to hear cries and screams from the manor but don’t pay much attention, knowing the boss sometimes plays wild.

Only feeling excited below, then returning to business. Just because they aren’t qualified to join in.

The tightly sealed building becomes Lance’s best stage. Strangely, besides a somewhat disordered scene and randomly dropped masks, the hall shows no trace of blood.

This is terrifying, meaning Lance basically kills with a bare hand in one shot, carefully controlling his strength.

Otherwise, with his power, it’s not strange to tear a person apart alive.

Just one word—decent!

After sending those corrupt ones to the sky, Lance walks to the side table, picks untouched food to taste.

Only saying it’s bland, the food’s cold, just decorative, losing appetite, he curses.

”Damn it, wasting food, deserves death!”

Lance doesn’t stay long, after looting he retreats, busy tonight, plundering anything of slight value, even the Exhibition Room can’t stack it all, needing multiple trips to the warehouse.

But Lance doesn’t find it troublesome at all. Conversely, to the Hoarder, looting resources is enjoyment.

This is mine, and that is also mine, all are mine!

To Lance, this world is a game, its logic differs little.

Draw cards for heroes, grind tasks to build strength, then defeat enemies, loot resources, use resources for further strengthening.

While Lance is busy, Vick is also ramping up.

After controlling the docks, Vick doesn’t further provoke those people but attracts refugees and street drifters by serving porridge.

Selecting some young and strong from these to start training, Vick monopolizes the fishery around the docks, yet can provide food, stabilizing the dock’s environment, winning everyone’s trust.

That’s how he defeated dozens of gangs and captured the entire dock.

Now, receiving immediate orders from the Lord, he decisively begins action.

Returning to the docks, he immediately stops the former porridge used for comforting and releases news that food is entangled by bureaucrats, intending to starve all refugees to death.

Turning around, Vick starts preparing for battle, maneuvering two hundred core members, distributing weapons, unexpectedly including simple armor and crossbows, showing extensive preparation hard enough to gather twenty crossbowmen.

Other primarily wield long-handled fish spears, practical for untrained ordinary people.

Vick recalls the Lord’s words back then.

Busy all day, even when night falls, remarkably they have no food, everyone hungry can only rest hastily.

Hunger recalls them something until dawn arrives.

What wakes them up is not the hazy morning light, but overnight hunger and food aroma.

Everyone knows they’re to battle unknown foes, yet a full meal sufficiently appeases them.

”This is the last of the food; if we don’t seize food, we’re waiting to starve!”

Vick appears beside the large pot, stirring people to retrieve their food.

The time has come, uprising today!
