Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 988: Chapter 556: Open Fire at Your Lord! (Part 2)

”Enough!” Lance stepped out from among the soldiers, raised his hand to suppress the muzzle beside him, ”Have you forgotten why you came here? Or have you suffered too little that it makes you dissatisfied?”

Lance walked alone towards the crowd.

”Three days, we stopped the invasion of the heretics, I led the Hamlet soldiers to fiercely battle for three days, holding the outpost and even driving the heretics out of the wilderness.

Among these people, some are injured from fighting the heretics but still insist on fighting, refusing to retreat from the front lines, some have fought for a day and night without rest.

We have paid the price in blood just to protect you, what have I done that is unworthy of you?

But what about you? You aim your guns at me? At the warriors who shed blood to protect you?”

Lance’s words became more passionate, as he spoke he removed his helmet and tossed it to the ground, walked a few steps forward, and stripped off the tattered armor, revealing the clothes underneath, long soaked black with blood, arms open unguardedly toward the mob, shouting:

”If you think I’ve done something wrong, then shoot me! Shoot your Lord!”

His words fell, instantly plunging the chaotic scene into a deathly silence.

Knowing him as a clean freak, why would he rather wear all this filth?

Why still wear that tattered armor?

He was waiting for this moment.

Lance’s words awakened the thought processes of these mobsters shrouded in frenzy.

Right! Why did they come to Hamlet?

The Empire and the Church abandoned them, famine, war, banditry, despair cloaking them.

At this time, it was the appearance of the Lord that saved them.

Though Hamlet also faced banditry, heretics, monsters and such threats, with chaos reaching the towns seemingly no different from other places.

But the only difference is that here they can actually eat their fill, drink their fill, and the chaos never reached them.

And all of this was due to the Lord leading troops to silently protect them, whereas they...

”No! I would never shoot My Lord.” One person suddenly awakened, throwing away the long gun in hand.

When the first appeared, it spread like a plague, quickly breaking the atmosphere.

”Oh! What exactly am I doing?”

”Why would I do this?”

”No! Forgive me...”

Among voices of various regrets mixed sounds, that was the noise of weapons hitting the ground they let go.

Even among them were true believers hesitating, but as the environment shifted, they too surrendered, tried to re-disguise and hide.

They even cried and acted more exaggeratedly than others.

Devotion? It’s merely a tool of the ambitious, they understand religion.

The speed was so fast that even the Mendicant Monk didn’t quite react to it.

Ah! This... isn’t right, is it? They’ve surrendered just like that?

But not everyone was willing to put down their weapons, however, they weren’t fanatical believers, but mobs who broke free from the influence of Divine Arts.

”It’s him!”

”He’s the one manipulating us!”

”He’s the true evil blasphemer!”

Part of them didn’t want to aim weapons at the Lord, nor were willing to just lay down their arms.

They felt more like awakening shame and rage, searching for reasons to convince themselves, now they had new reasons.

So they aimed weapons at the Church Duo hiding in the back, erupting into more frenzied roars.

”Kill him!”

”Kill him!!”

”Kill him!!!”

The Mendicant Monk thought he understood these people’s ignorance and followers, stirring emotion and seducing them into such acts, but did he ever consider a day of backlash?

Lance looked coldly at this scene, you want to seize power? Do you have what it takes?

You old thing not even comparable to an ancestor’s hair strand.

The Mendicant Monk had incited many riots, causing nobles to maintain respect for the Church.

But this time without firing a shot or using any weapon, just a few words completely overturned the situation for the first time.

The Church Duo couldn’t care less about Lance’s reaction, as they found themselves amidst the surge of followers, already planning to act.

”Stop! Everyone put down your weapons.”

Shockingly, Lance stopped the mob who was about to act, stifling the spreading chaos.

Lance didn’t care if the Mendicant Monk would be beaten to death, but could not let mobs act recklessly.

Because only he has the right to judge who, vigilantism represents the loss of power, he as the Lord isn’t dead yet, this isn’t a place they should meddle.

Moreover, where there is a first, there will be a second, unregulated vigilantism could likely cause chaos.

Even more disgusting was the mob’s random judgment under his banner, harming his reputation.

You think you are doing it for Hamlet? You’re doing it for yourself!

Like now, the Church likes to randomly judge under the flag of Holy Light, only to hit a hard wall with Hamlet.

Lance strode directly towards the Mendicant Monk, where he passed, mobs dropped weapons and split into two sides.

Once the first knelt, the mobs also knelt towards Lance, emitting all sorts of bizarre wails and repentance.

But Lance didn’t even look at them once, heading straight to the Church Duo hiding in the back.

The Mendicant Monk had lived for so many years, even death couldn’t shake his faith, yet before the man walking toward him, involuntarily gave rise to fear.

The Mendicant Monk’s will was being tested...

The long-absent pressure made even his breath change, but ignited his fanaticism further.

Those mobs could surrender, but he only knew battle!

”Holy Light will sanction you!” The Mendicant Monk’s hunched body burst with powerful strength, the candle on the magic wand ignited, casting a lightning-like beam directly at Lance.

Nothing is faster than light, not even Lance, unable to react as the beam shot into him like penetrating from the top.

Lance had felt Junia’s Light of Judgment, the divine power could not only heal but also cause harm.

Compared to someone like Junia, exiled by the Church, the power released by the Church’s Legendary figures is terrifyingly direct, akin to drying fishmen on the coast.

But... Lance’s will is unbreakable!

The flash, condensing the Mendicant Monk’s pious belief power, didn’t even slow Lance’s pace, instead kindled his wrath.

Waiting for your first move, I’ve endured long enough!

The Church Duo had unknown coordination duration, as the Monk acted, the Candlelight Priest also held a shield loyally blocking ahead, raising the shield to emit blinding light, attempting to halt Lance’s steps.

Dazzling Holy Light!

That hidden Warhammer swung towards Lance.

”Too slow! Too slow!”

The Candlelight Priest’s actions seemed cumbersome to Lance, like a turtle, though he couldn’t be bothered to waste time on this turtle, directly kicking at the Great Shield.

The Candlelight Priest’s strong frame coupled with this suit of heavy armor and Great Shield, must be two or three hundred pounds?

Yet in front of Lance’s formidable power, it made no difference, kicked aside in one strike.

Without the Priest blocking him, Lance merely took a step forward to expose the Mendicant Monk to his direct reach.

The height difference between them was quite large, leaving no room for punches, so with no fancy moves, he simply kicked out.

The next second, the Monk’s hunched body flew backward like a football for over ten yards before coming to a stop, only because the magic wand stuck prevented further rolling.

Yet the old thing was standing almost unharmed soon, Lance could see him enveloped by a protective ritual linked to... Lance turned to look at the Candlelight Priest.

Knight’s Oath!

The Candlelight Priest having lost the target first raised the shield, strong spiritual essence radiating.

Finally before the attack landed, constructed the Protection Ritual’s power shielding the Monk.

Lance showed not anger but delight, he hadn’t gone all out earlier, fearing one move might kill him, now without worry, time to give a thorough beating?

He smiled...
