Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 966: Chapter 545: Deep Diving Shaman (Part 2)

If it weren’t for the broken sword missing a part, making it too short, this strike would have been enough to cleave it in two.

Under the storm-like attacks, the Fishman Sword Saint revealed signs of defeat; even though it drew power from the sea breeze, it was hard to compensate for the damage caused by Baldwin.

If the killing continued, the situation might collapse, directly forcing the hidden fishman spellcasters to finally be unable to remain hidden.

As the waves surged, a small-framed fishman finally appeared, most of its body standing in the sea, which explained why it hadn’t been noticed earlier.

This Fishman Shaman also had a humanoid shape but carried a large fish head, making it somewhat distinct. Its pair of dead fish eyes gleamed red, revealing cruelty, further highlighted by its purple scales with a slight blue gradient instead of the usual green.

Compared to normal fishmen, the Fishman Shaman’s body was hunched, its chin growing several tendrils that emitted a faint blue glow to lure prey, reminiscent of deep-sea anglerfish, contributing to an aged appearance.

Wearing a dark golden headpiece with shell patterns, it distinguished itself with a noble identity among ordinary fishmen.

Holding a dark wooden magic wand, with a spiked sea urchin at the top.

On its neck hung a necklace of unknown bone, emitting a spiritual glow that proved it was no ordinary item.

Yet these traits weren’t that terrifying; someone like a Mendicant Monk could still contend with such a single shaman.

The truly frightening part was the emergence of over ten Fishman Shamans from the coast.

It was no wonder the sea breeze nourishing the fishmen could cover the entire coast; such extensive fluctuations similarly disrupted the senses of other spellcasters present.

Due to the Sword Saint’s weakness, the shamans were forced to intervene in the battle; upon appearing, they waved their wands, and as the salty sea breeze blew, the Sword Saint’s freshly cut wounds began secreting mucus at a visible rate, hinting at healing.

Nourishing sea breeze!

Simultaneously, the Fishman Shaman waved the wand again, audible only to fishmen. It was the Deep Sea Call that invigorated the Sword Saint.

Deep Sea Call!

Some shamans went further, aiming vicious sorcery at Baldwin, as dark shadows akin to the ocean’s depths descended, the waves seemingly surging towards Baldwin.

Suffocating Waves!

With no room to evade, Baldwin suddenly felt submerged in the deep sea, as the surrounding air thickened like seawater, suffocation creeping in, and darkness seemed ready to engulf his senses.

The Fishman Sword Saint wouldn’t wait for him to react, seizing the moment to strike several blows; the abrupt power surge rendered Baldwin sluggish due to sorcerous interference, resulting in multiple hits.

Fortunately, his armor worked to deflect the sword blade, leaving only a mark, though he couldn’t fully dodge the uncovered areas and got injured.

Meanwhile, the Shaman wasn’t satisfied, raising the wand to stir the deep sea shadows, aiming to finally obliterate Baldwin.

Pulling tricks in front of him—did they really think the Mendicant Monk was mere decoration?

The Fishman Shaman’s actions successfully angered him, a diminutive body containing immense power.

”Scatter!”

A mighty roar was heard; this time, the glow from the wand instantly dispelled the oppressive, gloomy aura pressing down like a storm cloud.

Simultaneously, a lightning strike hit the Sword Saint, the Light of Judgment instantly evaporating the mucus from its surface; originally grappling with Baldwin, now it smoked, with some scales popping.

Yet it held on, the ocean’s favor preventing immediate death, the sea breeze’s nourishment stalling the wound.

During this moment, Baldwin shook off the deep-sea terror, letting out a fierce roar.

”You have no idea what I’ve been through!”

Neither the pain from injury nor the despair from Aberrant Demon sorcery could induce fear in him; he’d faced much graver despair for years.

All recent events merely sparked his indomitable will.

So, who would bear the brunt of his fiery strike?

Vengeance!

Under the Shaman’s blessing, the Fishman Sword Saint initially appeared to recover; however, the Mendicant Monk’s Judgement Light roasted it a third cooked, its fish eye turning white.

Barely rejuvenated by the ocean’s nurture, it saw the broken sword swinging at it.

Hurriedly raising a knife to block, but overwhelmed by the surging force, struggled to hold the knife, almost dropping it.

But managing to deflect the intended head strike instead to the shoulder, the fish scales activated in difficulty, but the flimsy water wave couldn’t resist the sword blade, bursting like a bubble the next second, yet absorbed some damage.

The broken sword sliced through the Fishman Sword Saint’s shoulder as though splitting bamboo; had there not been resistance, it might have cut it in two outright.

However, the fishman’s brutality was provoked; disregarding severe injury, it slashed the knife towards Baldwin’s neck.

There was no armor to shield, and flesh couldn’t defy the extraordinary weapon’s power.

Yet Baldwin, a formidable warrior, wouldn’t expose such an obvious vulnerability.

Sent a kick that directly interrupted its assault, even knocking the Fishman Sword Saint flying.

But what happened next was unexpected from the Fishman Sword Saint.

The threat of death cleared its head; it had to abandon the fight to retreat, seeking solace within the ocean’s protection.

But Baldwin wouldn’t allow its escape, swinging the broken sword as it fled.

Among battles between powerful Transcendents, surprises linger; unforeseen outcomes often hit unexpectedly.

Perhaps mortal danger had triggered its potential, renewing the scale armor’s force.

Or maybe distant shamans cast spells, with a somewhat distinct Extraordinary Power shielding the Sword Saint from the strike.

Meanwhile, surrounding fishmen fearlessly swarmed to obscure its figure; clearly, the fishmen didn’t want to lose a mighty ally.

But someone had to bear Baldwin’s wrath for losing his target; the broken sword, fueled by his rage, swept aside.

Even the Sword Saint couldn’t withstand it, let alone the small fry. Those shamans observing Baldwin’s rampage sensed the looming crisis.

Not themselves, but this deteriorating situation—if not reversed, the invasion would fail.

Yet compelling reasons held their ground.

Ignoring Baldwin, the Fishman Shamans raised their wands, arms widespread, while the fish heads murmured sounds beyond human capacity, akin to the ocean’s deep resonance.

As one began, others quickly followed, stirring waves with unknown power to violently crash the coast, everyone feeling the shamans readying a significant move.

Allowing a spellcaster free reign was perilous, especially with over ten here.

Transcendents on the battlefield instantly locked eyes on the Fishman Shamans.

The Mendicant Monk revealed a worried look, surprised by the demonic power’s presence.

But he wouldn’t let them tarnish this world, immediately chanting scripture, spreading radiant Divinity.

Yet under the Shamans’ control, water curtains arose, blocking the Holy Light, finally comprehending why the Shamans hesitated to step ashore.

Deep Sea blessings granted them boundless powers in the water.

Baldwin directly abandoned entangling with the small fish, charged ahead with his sword, ignoring the consequences of breaching the fish tide.

Now only he could confront these monsters.

Aboard the ship, two individuals were quarreling; Amanda wanted to counteract the Shamans’ spell, but her power alone was weak—to succeed, she needed the ship’s ritual force.

However, the controller belonged to Sela, unwilling to act, she didn’t want to get involved.

”I refuse; if something happens to the ship, you can get away, but I can’t; I’m responsible for everyone’s safety.”

”At a time like this, if Hamlet loses, we won’t survive either, you idiot...”
