Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

Just as Huo Tingzun instructed while inspecting the room once more: ”Turn off all central air conditioning, fresh air, and exhaust systems, open every window slightly. Maintain air circulation, but don’t share air channels with other guest rooms.”

Xiao Bailu’s lips twitched involuntarily, this time even her hands almost spasmed: ”...”

This guy is just too much, is it really necessary to be so paranoid?

Is it even possible not to breathe the same air under the same sky as others?

Why don’t you suffocate yourself in a plastic bag?

Seeing that she didn’t move, Huo Tingzun’s gaze turned cold: ”Don’t forget you’re still in your internship period. If you disobey your boss’s instructions, I have the right to fire you at any time, and without paying a dime in salary.”

Xiao Bailu justified herself confidently: ”I applied for the position of a legal assistant, nowhere in the contract does it say I have to do things that only a servant would do!”

Huo Tingzun replied leisurely: ”The last clause of the contract includes ’other tasks assigned by the boss.’

Other tasks???

No way, there really is such a clause.

Xiao Bailu remembered.

That damned ”other tasks,” doesn’t it encompass all work? If he asked her to scale a mountain of knives and dive into a sea of fire, would she have to?

Sly businessman.

She should have crossed out this clause on the contract back then.

Regretting now, the man softly added another sentence by her ear: ”If you don’t want to do it, you can always resign.”

Xiao Bailu: ”...”

So that’s his game.

Trying to make things difficult for her, pushing her to resign, huh? Fat chance.

”So you just want me to shut down all the ventilation systems and open all the windows, right? No problem.” Xiao Bailu eagerly got to work.

She hurriedly went room to room executing the tasks.

The entire presidential suite, including the bathroom, dressing room, etc., had a total of 15 rooms.

Xiao Bailu toiled her way through them one by one. Especially in some rooms where the windows were set high up, she had to climb a chair to open the windows slightly.

Running up and down got her drenched in sweat.

Finally.

Once finished, she came to report to the man, thinking she could rest for a bit, only for him to pause for a few seconds: ”Tonight’s traffic halt announcement means people will surely be panic-buying food citywide tomorrow. You should head out now, visit the 24-hour supermarket and stock up on some food and daily necessities.”

Xiao Bailu: ”...”

She’s dealt with difficult bosses before, but has never seen anyone so bizarre.

Does he think she’s a coolie?

Yet just as a trace of defiance sparks in her eyes, the man leisurely retorts: ”If Secretary Xiao finds this job too strenuous, you’re always free to resign. There’s no need for a young lady to push herself so hard, isn’t it?”

Isn’t it?

”Isn’t it” your head.

Xiao Bailu grits her teeth, her gaze wanting nothing more than to devour the man, though the alluring smile on her lips never fades: ”Hehehe, President, you sure are humorous. Where’s the strain in this? It’s just going out to buy a few things, I’ll treat it like shopping hehe...”

Making someone go shopping in the middle of the night, what a psycho boss ah ah ah.

Xiao Bailu grimly stepped out of the hotel.

The streets were sparsely populated.

The few passersby hurriedly dragging suitcases looked desperate, unable to find taxis, forced to run towards the train station and airport.

Xiao Bailu wanted to advise them, with traffic closing at midnight, it won’t do any good going now since they won’t let you through.

The contagion’s spread is so severe that Qingcheng’s management is stringent; they wouldn’t even let an ant crawl out.

But upon reflection she swallowed her words.

Why extinguish their last ray of hope?

Those now trying to flee the city must have their reasons, perhaps they never belonged here to begin with, rushing home to reunite with family; perhaps they have a sick elderly or child, needing to escape to seek better treatment; maybe there’s a lover waiting outside, one they yearn for day and night...

Without understanding others’ pains, who are we to judge?
