Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

Qingcheng.

A small rural village.

As the first rays of dawn shone into the side room, Qin Xin squinted and turned over to continue sleeping.

The rural clay bed was hard and had no bounce, yet strangely enough, she slept quite soundly.

Don’t want to get up, don’t want to get up, don’t want to...

”Eh? What’s that smell? The aroma of food?”

Qin Xin suddenly sat up.

Touching her small, empty belly, she thought helplessly, in the countryside, she was so hungry she was hallucinating. Even before getting up, she imagined the aroma of food; how lacking in food must she be.

She put on her clothes and, on the way to the kitchen, felt the aroma growing stronger.

”Fish soup...”

”Congee with mixed ingredients...”

”Shrimp dumplings...”

Uh, these were all her favorites, and at this moment, it’s these flavors she’s ”imagining.”

Forget it, she better cook instant noodles for Master Tuantuan, or else it would just be steamed buns soaked in water with chili flakes.

However.

When she stepped into the kitchen, she was stunned by what she saw.

The stove was lit, and steam was rising from the pot.

Opening the pot lid, there were three layers of steamers with fresh food inside.

One layer was milky white fish soup.

Another layer was a small bowl of rich congee with mixed ingredients.

The last layer was a plate of shrimp dumplings.

Clearly, they were freshly handmade, not the frozen kind from city hotel central kitchens.

There was no one else in this courtyard, just her and Master Tuantuan.

So, the one who made breakfast for her is...

Qin Xin’s lips curled slightly, her eyes warm with amusement.

Master Tuantuan appeared aloof, as if indifferent to worldly affairs, always training in his room. In reality, he did have a good grasp of life.

Moreover, yesterday he was so cold and distant, neither cooking for her nor chatting with her, even refusing to let her touch his hand, acting like an old-fashioned person who avoids close contact between sexes... Yet, the things she mentioned wanting to eat, he remembered them all.

And now, he’s made them for her early in the morning.

A man whose words don’t match his intentions.

Qin Xin didn’t hold back at all, devouring the breakfast he made.

She hadn’t eaten so fully in a long time, and in the end, she almost held onto the door to step out.

After breakfast, she reciprocated by boiling sweet well water, using a bamboo cup to brew a pot of tea, and garnishing it with a couple of mint leaves picked from the courtyard. She brought it to Master Tuantuan: ”Master, take a break. Aren’t you bored practicing martial arts every day?”

The man behind the gauze curtain remained motionless.

Seeming to meditate and clear his mind.

Qin Xin, feeling bored to death: ”Master, I’m going to the town today, and I’ll be back later.”

The man still didn’t move.

Qin Xin felt a bit worried.

She walked to the window, but both the gauze and bamboo curtains were down, so she couldn’t see inside.

Could Master have experienced a setback in his training?

She couldn’t help but push the door, it wasn’t locked, just ajar. She was about to enter.

The man’s voice came from inside: ”Go away.”

Still in that cold, distant tone that keeps people at a distance.

Qin Xin pouted: ”Fine, if you’re okay, then I’ll go out.”

Helplessly, she thought, normally she also has a cold personality, but in front of Master Tuantuan, this chunk of ice, she felt she was the warm, passionate one.

After Qin Xin left.

For a long time.

After the courtyard sank into complete silence.

Only then did a low groan emerge from the main room.

The man, sitting cross-legged on a bamboo mat, had beads of sweat on his forehead, his expression very pained.

After adjusting his breathing and meditating for a full four or five hours, he was only now slightly calmer.

He reached out to pick up the mint bamboo leaf tea Qin Xin made, but it was already cold.

The man glanced at it, didn’t drink, and put it down.

His gaze turned to the small path outside the courtyard.

Why hasn’t she come back yet?
