Urban God of Rebate: Infinite Returns Of Women And Powers

The lamp clicked off.

Darkness didn’t arrive all at once. The window’s finger-width gap let in the pale suggestion of starlight, and after a few seconds Sean’s eyes adjusted enough to see the shape of her—the broad line of her shoulders, the way her head tilted as she looked up at him in the new dark.

Her hand stayed on his shirt. Not moving. Just resting there with the weight of a decision already made.

”The creek,” she said quietly. ”You can hear it better now.”

He could. The sound had been there before, but the dark made it closer, like the cabin had settled deeper into the hill country night.

”You’re still thinking,” she said.

”About the sound,” he said.

”Stop.”

Her hand slid up his chest to his shoulder, then around to the back of his neck. She pulled. Not hard. Just enough to bring his mouth down to hers.

The kiss was not tentative. Dani Reeves had read the terrain and made her decision, and she kissed the way she did everything else—with complete attention, no wasted motion, her full mouth opening against his without preamble. Her other hand found his hip and her fingers hooked into the waistband of his jeans, not tugging, just anchoring.

Sean’s hand came up to the side of her face. His thumb found the ridge of her cheekbone, then the scatter of freckles that the dark had erased but his fingers remembered from the firelight.

She made a sound against his mouth. Low. Not a sigh. Something more specific.

Her tongue met his and the kiss deepened, and then her hand was at the hem of his shirt, pushing up, her palm flat against his stomach. The contact was warm and certain.

”Take this off,” she said, against his mouth.

He pulled the shirt over his head. The air in the cabin was cool enough to raise the skin on his arms, but her hands were already there, sliding up his chest, over his shoulders, down his back with the same deliberateness she’d used when she’d found the front of his shirt.

”You’re lean,” she said. Her voice had dropped into something quieter, but not softer. ”I noticed on the trail. The way you move.”

”The way I move,” he said.

”Economical.” Her hands were at his belt now. ”You don’t waste anything.”

She unbuckled his belt with the same unhurried precision she’d used to read the map at the fork. The leather slid free. The button. The zipper. Her knuckles brushed against him through the fabric of his boxers and he felt his breath catch in a way he didn’t try to control.

”Sit,” she said.

He sat on the edge of the bed.

She knelt in front of him.

The position should have felt like a performance—the classic arrangement, the expected choreography—but there was nothing performed about it. She knelt the way she’d sat by the fire, the way she’d stood at the fork in the trail. Like it was simply where her body needed to be.

She pulled his jeans down over his hips. He lifted. She worked them off with the same efficiency she’d used to address the lamp on the floor. Then his boxers.

Her hands settled on his thighs.

Not gripping. Just resting there, warm through the fabric of her own shorts where her wrists pressed against her skin. The cabin was silent except for the creek and the sound of his breathing.

”You’re already hard,” she said.

It wasn’t an observation. It was an acknowledgment. The specific tone of someone who had been reading terrain all day and was simply confirming what the terrain had told her.

”Yes,” he said.

She leaned forward.

Her mouth found the inside of his thigh first. Not the obvious place. The deliberate avoidance of it. Her lips pressed against the muscle there, then her tongue—just the tip—tracing a line up toward his hip bone. His stomach tensed. She did it again on the other side, slower this time, and he let out a breath that was almost a sound.

She looked up at him through the dark.

”Tell me if you want something different.”

”I’ll tell you,” he said.

Her hand wrapped around the base of him. Her grip was warm and certain and exactly the right pressure. Not tentative. She pumped once, slowly, and he felt his hips tilt forward without his permission.

”You really don’t waste anything,” she said. ”Your body just responds.”

Then her mouth was on him.

No hesitation. Just the wet heat of her tongue flattening against the underside, dragging up to the tip, then her lips closing over the head. She took him deep on the first pass, and the dark made it all sensation—the pressure, the suction, the way her free hand cupped him below, fingers rolling gently.

His hand found her hair. Not pushing. Just resting in it, feeling the texture of it, the way her head moved as she worked him.

”Fuck, Dani.”

She pulled off with a sound that was wet and deliberate.

”Focus on the feeling,” she said. ”Not the thinking about it.”

Then she took him again, deeper, and this time her throat opened and his hips bucked once before he caught himself.

The sound she made was approval.

She worked him like that for a long minute, her pace unhurried, her tongue doing something against the vein on the underside that made his fingers tighten in her hair. Her other hand was still at the base of him, but now it was also pressing against her own collarbone through the t-shirt. Like she was feeling herself through the act.

He watched her through the dark. The shape of her kneeling between his legs. The way her shoulders moved. The concentration in the set of her head.

She looked up at him again, his cock still in her mouth.

The eye contact was devastating.

She pulled off slowly, letting him slide out from between her lips with a sound that belonged in the dark, in this room, in the space where the creek could not cover it.

”Lie back,” she said.

He didn’t move yet.

”I want you to see what I can do,” she said. ”And I want to take my time.”

Sean shifted back onto the bed. The mattress was firm and unfamiliar and creaked once under his weight. He lay with his head on the single pillow, his legs still hanging off the edge until she pushed them gently up and onto the bed.

She stood at the foot of it.

The starlight from the window caught the outline of her. The loose shorts. The faded t-shirt. The hair that had been out of its arrangement since before he’d knocked.

”I’m going to take these off,” she said. ”And then I’m going to ride you.”

He exhaled.

”Unless you have objections.”

”No objections,” he said.

She pulled the shirt over her head.

Her breasts were full and sat high on her chest without any of the self-consciousness of someone being watched. The dark defined her in gradients—the deep tone of her skin, the darker centers, the line of her collarbones. She shimmied out of the shorts. No panties. The dark at the apex of her thighs was just visible.

She climbed onto the bed.

Straddled him.

Her knees pressed into the mattress on either side of his hips.

Her weight settled on him for a second before she lifted herself.

”Condom,” she said. ”Top drawer.”

She reached over him, her breast brushing his chest as she did, and pulled the foil packet from the nightstand that wasn’t a nightstand. She tore it open with her teeth and rolled it onto him with the same efficiency she’d used to unbuckle his belt. He watched her fingers work the latex down his length, and the sight of her doing it—calm and certain and already breathing harder now—made his cock jerk in her hand.

She positioned herself over him.

”I’ve been wet since the fire,” she said. ”Since we talked about the terrain. Since the trail.”

Her dark eyes found his in the almost-dark.

”I think you knew that.”

”I knew,” he said.

She sank down onto him.

-- -

The heat of her was staggering.

Not just the wetness—the specific tight grip of her as she took him inch by inch. She didn’t rush it. Her breath came out in a slow, controlled exhale as she lowered herself, and he watched her face in the starlight: eyes fluttering closed for a moment, then opening again, fully present.

”Christ,” he said.

”You’re thick,” she said. ”I needed a moment.”

She gave herself that moment. Hands braced on his chest, she stayed sunk on him completely, her hips flush against his, her inner muscles squeezing in a rhythm that was either involuntary or fully intended. Possibly both.

Then she began to move.

Not the rocking of someone figuring out what felt good. The specific, deliberate motion of someone who had spent years learning how her body worked and was now using that knowledge on him.
