Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 848: Chapter 718: Snape’s Scar_2

”Well, um... don’t lose heart, Hagrid,” Kael said, bracing himself. ”I think it’s just because most people don’t understand magical creatures.”

”But when Professor Kettleburn was here, many people chose his advanced class.”

Hagrid took out a dirty handkerchief and wiped his eyes. ”Thank you, Kael, thank you for comforting me at a time like this, but there’s no need, I understand.”

”No,” Kael shook his head. He suddenly thought of something else. ”Hagrid, do you know what’s different this year compared to before?”

”Different? What do you mean?” Hagrid was a bit puzzled.

”You-Know-Who,” Kael said, ”this year the Ministry of Magic announced the return of You-Know-Who, so most students subconsciously lean towards subjects that can enhance their abilities during course selection. That’s why they might overlook the Care of Magical Creatures class.”

”Really?” Hagrid raised his head.

Thank goodness, his voice finally didn’t have a crying tone. Kael was really not good at comforting a half-giant.

”Of course,” Kael said earnestly. ”You think about it, last year quite a few people chose your class, how could it be that you lack the ability?”

”But...” Hagrid was still a bit confused, ”Magical creatures surely have great use. Dumbledore even used Fluffy to guard the Philosopher’s Stone, how could they not be helpful?”

”Because you can’t bring a Three-Headed Dog into the classroom,” Kael said. ”Think about what they’re learning: Bowtruckles, Fairies, Nifflers, slightly better ones like Unicorns and Fire Salamanders. They can’t exactly expect to ride a Unicorn to fight Death Eaters.”

Hagrid was somewhat persuaded, and even Kael and Conna believed this reasoning because last year quite a lot of people did choose Hagrid’s class, about twenty or so.

And the only change during this time was the Ministry of Magic publicly announcing Voldemort’s resurrection. It might really be the reason.

The Divination class can even predict the future, though not always accurately, but at least it’s comforting; only the Care of Magical Creatures class isn’t.

Before the fifth year, they were only allowed to study magical creatures at XXX level or below; it’s normal for them to underestimate.

More importantly, most wizards don’t carry magical creatures with them; they rely more on their wands.

”It’s their loss, Hagrid,” Conna also spoke up.

”That’s right,” Kael nodded. ”Someday they’ll regret this decision.”

”Yeah.”

Hagrid was convinced and revitalized. ”Give up on the Care of Magical Creatures class? They’ll never know what they’re missing. I’ve decided to show these five students something different.”

”Something different?” Kael pondered for a moment. ”Wait, Hagrid, you’re not planning to bring Fluffy into the classroom, are you?”

To be honest, with Hagrid’s personality, he might actually do it.

There’s another issue; Kael secretly took Fluffy out, and hasn’t had time to return it to the Forbidden Forest.

If Hagrid discovers it, it’ll be hard to explain.

”No, of course not.”

Luckily, Hagrid didn’t plan to do that. He shook his head and said, ”Ever since Fluffy got familiar with the Forbidden Forest’s environment, I haven’t seen it for a long time. Besides, Dumbledore wouldn’t agree to let students face overly dangerous magical creatures.”

”So I plan to let them see a Thestral in the first class.”

”A Thestral?”

Kael was stunned for a moment. If he recalled correctly, they seemed to also learn about Thestrals last year, and Umbridge even listened... is there any difference?

As if sensing Kael’s confusion, Hagrid explained, ”This year they won’t just watch from a distance. I’ve decided to let them touch and understand the Thestrals closely. I’ll also teach these five students how to harness them.

”In that way, if they encounter danger in school, they can seek help from the Forbidden Forest as soon as possible!” Hagrid clenched his fists, looking confident.

...

”Kael, do you think Hagrid will succeed?” On the way back to the castle, Conna couldn’t help but ask.

”Hard to say,” Kael shrugged. ”Honestly, Hagrid’s idea is good, but he doesn’t seem to be good at using his head.”

Conna couldn’t hold back her laughter. ”If Hagrid heard that, he’d definitely be angry.”

”That’s why I didn’t say it earlier.” Kael glanced behind him. ”This is Hogwarts, if students need to seek help from the Forbidden Forest, it means Death Eaters have completely taken over the school.

”Instead of running across the ground towards the Forbidden Forest, it’s better to grab a broomstick from the broom closet.”

”And there’s another thing, not everyone can see Thestrals.”

Conna thought about it, realizing this is indeed the case, Hagrid’s decision can only be said to be better than nothing.

”Forget it, as long as Hagrid can get back on his feet, it’s fine.” Kael waved his hand, not caring.

He initially didn’t plan to make the Care of Magical Creatures class more meaningful; it wasn’t realistic. As long as Hagrid has something to do and stops worrying about only five people attending his advanced class, that’s enough.

...

As they arrived at the castle entrance, the Gryffindor Quidditch team happened to return from the field.

”Hey, Kael.” Harry waved his hand and walked over to Kael. ”By the way, I haven’t thanked you yet.”

”Thank me for what?” Kael asked in confusion.

”Of course, for suggesting we buy a Potion Book,” Harry said. ”Professor Slughorn insisted I attend his class. Without the book, I wouldn’t know what to do.
