Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 845: Chapter 717: Conna’s Glorious Moment_2

Slughorn leisurely walked over to the last cauldron, which was where Kael and Conna were.

”But I must say, you absolutely won’t know what this last potion is,”

he said with a smug look on his face, ”Although this might be a bit unfair, it is a brand-new potion invented by the youngest member in history of The Most Extraordinary Society of Potioneers.”

Kael instinctively glanced at Conna, only to be given a fierce glare in return.

”Of course, some who have been following The Most Extraordinary Society of Potioneers might wonder why they haven’t seen a new member list, right?

Slughorn continued, ”That’s because the list won’t be released until after Christmas, but luckily, one of the wizards responsible for the assessment this year is a former student of mine. So, as soon as the assessment was over, he couldn’t wait to share the inside information with me.”

A murmur spread around, with everyone astonished at Professor Slughorn’s insider access, making him even more pleased with himself.

”Professor...” Kael suddenly said casually, ”What if someone knows what this potion is?”

”Then I’ll give them a hundred points,” Slughorn replied offhandedly, clearly not believing that was possible.

”Well then.” He cleared his throat, ”Allow me to grandly introduce, this is...”

”Rejuicing Potion,” a familiar voice gently interrupted Slughorn.

His mouth agape, he turned incredulously to look at Conna.

”You... how could you possibly know... wait.” He seemed to realize something, ”Are you?”

”Conna Prince,” Conna said.

”Prince... Prince...” Slughorn murmured softly, then a barely concealed joy appeared on his face, ”Ah yes, of course, just like the Prince... you must be the young lady who went for the Society’s assessment last month, right!”

Another wave of murmurs erupted, this time louder, with everyone looking at Conna.

”I did attend the assessment, and the Rejuicing Potion is indeed my creation.” Conna nodded, ”But I don’t know if I passed.”

”I assure you, there’s absolutely no issue, don’t forget I have inside information,” Slughorn winked, ”Oh, remember to keep it a secret for me, by rule, this isn’t supposed to be disclosed.”

Then he looked at Kael, accusingly, ”You knew all along, didn’t you? Just waiting to see me make a fool of myself?”

”Sorry, Professor, I thought you knew,” Kael said, ”Didn’t you look at the list beforehand? Conna’s name is on it.”

”I should have looked,” Slughorn said regretfully. He preferred getting to know everyone in class rather than through a list.

Only it never occurred to him that this habit would lead to such a blunder today.

But Slughorn wasn’t truly angry; compared to knowing Conna Prince was in his class, this little embarrassment meant nothing at all.

”Well, it’s time to fulfill my promise,” Slughorn said, ”Hufflepuff, one hundred points... okay, let’s make it fifty for now, I’d forgotten I’m no longer the head of house and don’t have the authority for a large points award, but don’t worry, I’ll go to Dumbledore.”

Conna shook her head, indicating she didn’t mind. To her, being awarded fifty points was good enough, considering Kael already had mischief in mind.

”You deserve these points.”

Slughorn said, ”And your potion is quite good. I now add a bit to my breakfast every day; it helps me prepare better for each class throughout the day.”

”Thank you for your opinion, Professor.”

Receiving acknowledgment from such a renowned Potion Master like Slughorn, Conna was thrilled.

”Well, today has been full of surprises.” Slughorn waved his wand, and the cauldrons on the table all disappeared. ”But now we should start class, turn to page twenty-two of your Advanced Potion Making.”

Upon hearing this, the still eager crowd had no choice but to take out their textbooks.

”Professor, you haven’t told us what’s in there yet,” a Ravenclaw student pointed to a small black cauldron on the podium.

The liquid inside the cauldron shimmered like melted gold, resembling golden fish leaping inside, yet not a drop spilled out.

”Ah, you’ve finally noticed it,” Slughorn laughed, ”That’s one of the most peculiar little potions, I believe some of you must know what it is.”

”It’s Felix Felicis, sir,” Cho said excitedly.

”Also known as the Lucky Potion!” someone next to her added.

”Exactly, five points to Ravenclaw,” Slughorn said, ”I must say, teaching seventh-grade students is indeed easier. It seems Severus’s advanced class is really strict.”

Just as Kael expected, Slughorn offered Felix Felicis as a prize for this class.

The entire classroom erupted; everyone seemed not to have expected the new Potion Class Professor to be so generous.

That was Felix Felicis, just given away like that?

From the podium, Slughorn looked at the scene identical to the sixth-years’, and nodded contentedly.

As an experienced professor, he knew well that his greatest challenge now was earning student recognition.

And this was his solution. With just a small bottle of Felix Felicis, the issue was perfectly resolved, quite cost-effective.

Of course, not every grade would fit this approach, even if his family was incredibly wealthy, he couldn’t afford to give away seven bottles of Felix Felicis.
