Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 814: Chapter 707: A Letter

”What did Conna give you?”

”Hurry up and open it!”

As soon as Dumbledore left, Fred and George flanked Kael on both sides, grinning teasingly at him.

Kael didn’t act shy at all; he just opened the box right away.

Inside was a robe, but the style was completely different from what you usually see in the United Kingdom—it looked much fancier, more like dress robes.

The brown fabric had a special pale pattern, almost floral, but if you looked closely, you’d realize it was because the material itself was woven from two different colors.

Both ends were brown, the middle a light gray, and when woven together in a particular way, it created this unique design.

”I remember seeing a scarf just like this in Hogsmeade,” Fred mused.

George thought for a moment. ”I think the shop owner said it was... Lec... Lec something, anyway it’s the neck fur of some really rare Fantastic Beast.”

”Lecrota,” Kael said.

”Yeah, yeah, that’s the name,” Fred nodded vigorously.

Lecrota is a kind of large Fantastic Beast that looks a lot like a moose, except its mouth is unbelievably huge.

When it opens its mouth all the way, it can even swallow a cow with ease... Of course, it’s actually an herbivore and has a gentle temperament.

This Fantastic Beast isn’t all that rare, just not common in the United Kingdom.

”By the way, where did Conna end up going?” George asked. ”We’ve written her loads of letters, but she hasn’t replied to a single one.”

”Kael, do you know?”

”I only know that Snape took her to take the entrance test for The Most Extraordinary Society of Potioneers,” Kael shrugged. ”But where exactly, I have no clue. I never got a reply either.

But if I had to guess, I’d say probably Northern Europe.”

The reason Kael said that was because Lecrota liked to live in cold places. Wizards from Denmark or Norway, for example, were big fans of robes and cloaks made from Lecrota fur. They’re way warmer than wool.

”I see. I really hope she succeeds,” Fred said sincerely.

”Alright, let’s not talk about it anymore. We’ll know once school starts, right?” said George. ”Kael, hurry, try it on!”

”It’s August right now...” Kael stared at him in disbelief. ”You want me to put this on?”

”Just try it! You don’t have to wear it all day,” Fred said.

”Tch, fine.” Seeing the excited faces of the twins, Kael sighed and took the robe out, slipping it on.

And you know what, it wasn’t too big or too small—just right, like it’d been tailored especially for him.

”Weird,” Kael smoothed out the folds on the robe. ”Why doesn’t it feel hot?”

”Of course you don’t feel hot...” Fred shivered, hugging himself and rubbing his arms. ”It’s suddenly freezing in here...”

George pulled his thin shirt tighter. ”What’s going on? Is it already winter?”

He hadn’t even finished speaking when a terrified scream echoed from upstairs.

”Oh no!” Kael suddenly realized something and dashed upstairs without hesitation.

Seriously, how could he forget something so important!

In a hurry, Kael used Apparition to reach Harry’s room on the third floor and shoved the door open.

Sure enough...

Inside, a Dementor was hovering aimlessly midair, while Harry, Ron, and Hermione were huddled together, trembling in a corner.

The Dementor turned around, and as soon as it spotted Kael, it floated right over to him.

”Watch out, don’t come in!” Hermione screamed, ”There’s a Deme...ntor?”

But the very next second, her voice stopped abruptly.

Because Hermione stared with wide eyes as Kael opened a trunk, and the Dementor obediently slipped inside. The whole thing happened so smoothly, it was as if that’s how it was supposed to be.

But it was a Dementor... not a pet owl!

Hermione was completely stunned.

”Sorry,” Kael said, a bit embarrassed, ”I used this trunk to hold a Dementor not long ago, but then things got busy and I just... forgot all about it.”

”N-no problem...” Harry stood up, shivering.

Actually, after Lupin’s lessons, he wasn’t that scared of Dementors anymore. It was just that everything happened way too suddenly.

He’d happily opened the trunk, ready to put something away, but as soon as he undid the clasp, a Dementor popped out right in his face—he could see that skull-like face under its hood as clear as day.

Anyone would be terrified! Frankly, it was a miracle Harry hadn’t passed out on the spot.

”But Kael, why are you carrying a Dementor around with you?” he asked, unnerved.

”I caught it,” Kael explained. ”I was going to hand it over to the Ministry of Magic, but like I said, I just plain forgot.”

”What’s going on here!”

At that moment, the adults who’d heard the commotion came running.

”I heard someone screaming just now!” Sirius was the first to burst in, scanning the room anxiously. ”You’re all okay, right?”

”Yeah, we’re fine.” Harry glanced at Kael, then tried to act cool. ”We just accidentally set off a joke item—Ron got startled.”

”That’s right, that’s all it was,” Ron said.

”A joke item?” Sirius looked around suspiciously. ”Weird, why is it so cold in here? Almost like there’s a Deme...”

”I bet it’s something like a Snowflake Tree.”

Before Sirius could finish, Dumbledore walked in from outside, nostalgic. ”That was the most popular thing a dozen years ago—you could make a tree look snow-covered in just a few seconds.”
