Global Game: I Have Portable Store

The companion with the brown satchel nodded and said, ”Who wouldn’t say that? This has become the best task. I’ve heard many people are eager to sign up.”

The observer thought for a moment and continued, ”Actually, it’s not all that great. There are still many monsters at night, not just zombies.”

...

Facing the starry night sky, Su Changxing lay on the ground, quietly meditating. Zombies have a unique ability: dazing off. Whenever they want to daze, they can easily enter a dazed state, often ignoring the passage of time.

Whispers appeared in his ears, sometimes distant, sometimes near, as if sounds drifting from the edge of the starry sky, deep and heavy, cold and far-reaching.

In a trance, he seemed to enter another world. In his ears were unending tolling bell sounds. Looking upward, there was endless black mist and towering bronze pillars piercing the clouds. Looking downward, there were countless graves with gray stone tombstones, as if shadows were moving between them.

Raising his head, he suddenly saw countless pairs of eyes behind this world looking this way, penetrating the rolling black mist, their gaze sweeping over him, seemingly unable to see him, seemingly searching for his position...

Waking up, he opened his eyes, staring blankly at the starry sky, like someone having had a nightmare, breathing heavily and deeply.

He understood, this was no nightmare, but a call from some existence.

Such a call wasn’t specific, not aimed at any individual, but at a certain group within a range. Creatures meeting the criteria would receive the call.

He couldn’t clearly see what place it was, like a cemetery, an endless gray cemetery, along with unending anxious bell sounds.

Then.

The building started to shake, and even the thick leaves in the flower beds swayed. It was the earth trembling, like an earthquake.

...

In a dim small room, the walls were covered with twisted and incomprehensible characters, dense and numerous, covering everything including the table and cabinets.

Three black-robed figures sat in the center of the room, whispering something.

”Go to rebirth, abandon the vulgar, leave the illusory, shed the dirt...”

”Welcome the sacred, break through the absurd dirty place...”

...

Blood spread out and scattered on the floor like little snakes, seeming to gain certain life, full of spirituality.

Outside the window, the street was filled with large and small holes, along with scattered wandering zombies.

There were far fewer zombies here compared to before.

More blood snakes formed from blood on the hanging bodies spread out from the ceiling, then crawled out through the windows, onto the street, and into the various holes.

”Did it succeed?”

A hoarse voice sounded in the room, as if the words were laced with blood.

”Haha, heaven helps us. Due to the great reduction of zombies in this region, the seal has weakened.”

”Haha~”

For a moment, ghostly cries and wolfish laughter echoed from the room.

These are probably a group of madmen, still appearing human, but their spirits long twisted, turning into something not quite human; their emotions differ greatly from ordinary people.

Whether such individuals still belong to humanity remains to be defined.

Large vertical eyes opened from deep underground, in the darkness, as more eyes appeared, the ground began to gently shake.

This shaking continued, subtly, spreading from forbidden areas to safe zones. Even the zombies on the streets felt the unease, roaring furiously.

”What the heck is this?”

Su Changxing couldn’t help but frown, sensing an unsettling aura spreading across the ground.

Visible cracks appeared on the street, the ground sinking down or rising up as if something enormous was tumbling and struggling underground.

In the distance, a giant purple-red tentacle surged from the ground, waving constantly, reflecting starlight, like swaying trees.

The thing underground has come out again.

This time, it’s moving towards the safe zone!

Huge purple-red tentacles kept extending from the street ground like footprints, moving forward along the street, passing just at the edge of the undead tide area.

Su Changxing sensed the advancing path of the thing and showed a look of surprise, ”Is that underground thing’s destination the gathering place? How did they provoke it?”

If it wasn’t necessary, that underground thing wouldn’t enter the safe zone and move towards the gathering place without reason; surely it’s being guided by something.

The noise grew louder, and the ground shook more violently.

The people at the gathering place naturally felt this intense commotion, only understanding what was happening once they saw the tentacles rising on the distant street.

”A monster is approaching here from underground!”

”Sound the alarm, prepare for battle!”

”Sound the alarm, prepare for battle!”

”Sound the alarm, prepare for battle!”

...

More torches burned on the platform, and bell sounds continually rang throughout the gathering place, already on Level One battle readiness, responding swiftly.

Yi Xiaodong held a blood-stained short sword, standing over a corpse, sensing the disturbance, turning back to look outside the gathering place, seeing a purple tentacle rising from the street, lifting the defenses outside up, with barbed wire and rubble scattered around.

”Was it too slow?” He showed a look of disappointment.

Anyone who touched the red-purple tentacles was pulled into the writhing flesh, feeling their bodies slowly being crushed, letting out terrified screams, but soon falling silent, disappearing within the tentacles.

Facing such a terrifying monster, Yi Xiaodong felt his hands and feet tremble, uncertain what to do; individual power seemed minuscule compared to this monster, like ants to an elephant, no amount of ants could bite an elephant to death.

Even the extraordinary, if their flesh touches the tentacles, they cannot escape, faintly feeling their flesh being assimilated by the tentacles.

The only chance for self-rescue is to sever the part of their flesh in contact with the tentacles themselves to possibly survive.

Yi Xiaodong hesitated little, immediately ordered: Abandon the gathering place, evacuate.

The current situation is to save whoever can survive; they have no chance of defeating the monster, at least currently.

The gap in the levels of extraordinary power between the sides is too great, not on the same level.

The tentacles stopped moving, the ground tremor abruptly stopped, accompanied by successive lion roars, the undead tide surged from behind, crashing into the tentacles.

Su Changxing controlled the undead tide to clash with the tentacles from the side, even though a tide of tens of thousands of zombies certainly couldn’t shake such a monster, each zombie touching the tentacles was immediately consumed, becoming part of the tentacles.

It looked less like the undead tide attacking the tentacles, more like feeding the tentacles.

The tentacles halted not because the undead tide blocked them, but because it focused on enjoying the large amount of food falling from the sky.

To it, humans and zombies might not differ much, both edible, maybe zombies are even more nutritious than ordinary humans, just not as fresh.

Su Changxing noticed how the undead tide managed to stop the monster this way, showing a quirky expression.

The initial target for this thing was clearly the gathering place, but its resolve wasn’t as firm as imagined, easily stopped by the undead tide, seemingly unable to resist the food temptation.

This tentacle monster is purely gluttonous.

The undead tide and the mass of purple-red tentacles were in a stalemate, also buying the gathering place’s people some space to retreat.

This scene was dreamlike, extremely unreal.

”The undead tide helped us block the monster!” Xu Jie widened her eyes, seeing the scene not far away, showing an incredulous look.

Yi Xiaodong commanded among the crowd, shouting, ”Evacuate everyone, evacuate, abandon the gathering place!”

With the undead tide holding the mass of tentacles, they could retreat calmly, merely abandoning the gathering place they painstakingly built.

This gathering place wasn’t built by them, but by predecessors. At most, they only reinforced or expanded on this foundation.

But once they abandoned this gathering place, it foretells the destruction of the Lan feng Gathering Place, and the Lan feng Gathering Place is essentially one of the strongest gathering places in District Two.
