Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Although they weren’t numerous, their efficiency in clearing was quite high, and such a remote method was the best way to deal with the Undead Tide. As long as they weren’t surrounded by the zombies, there probably wouldn’t be any danger.

Because the movement caused by using the bow and arrow to shoot was very small, it didn’t alarm the surrounding zombies. Su Changxing only shifted his view when he sensed a zombie dying in the Undead Tide.

Just when Su Changxing thought these people were only here to simply clear the zombies, one of the black-robed figures pulled a small gray ball from his pocket and threw it into a denser cluster of zombies, causing several fine lasers to expand from the ball’s center.

BOOM~

A violent explosion erupted among the zombie horde, creating a huge commotion and nearly triggering the Undead Tide.

Without Su Changxing actively controlling them, the zombie horde in that area moved uncontrollably towards the direction of the explosion.

Su Changxing also wanted to see what these black-robed figures were up to, so he let the Undead Tide surge without intervening too much.

The black-robed figures, seeing the Undead Tide surging at them from all directions, ran back along the planned route, neither too fast nor too slow, keeping the undead tide following just behind.

Soon, Su Changxing realized that the direction the black-robed figures were running was towards the settlement. They wanted to lure the Undead Tide to the settlement.

”What’s going on? Do they have a masochistic tendency?” Su Changxing pondered that it was impossible for the settlement to do this, but some others who wanted to destroy the settlement might, but who would want to destroy the settlement?

Those new humans?

Su Changxing was certain these black-robed figures were pure humans, not like those new humans outside; the two weren’t on the same path.

However, he could totally understand such strife: humans as a race are inherently contradictory. Not only would they team up to repel external enemies, but they would also fight among themselves when faced with outside enemies, often more viciously.

So could these black-robed figures be from other settlements?

Su Changxing considered this a great possibility. If the Undead Tide attacked one settlement, it would inevitably be heavily consumed, greatly reducing the threat to other settlements.

”They took the bait, execute the plan as scheduled.” One of the black-robed figures said to the others while running down the street, then took out another small gray ball, throwing it into the zombie horde, causing another violent explosion and further provoking the already violent Undead Tide.

This way, guided by these black-robed figures, the Undead Tide moved to within less than a kilometer of the settlement.

From the wooden tower, the sentinels could see the densely packed zombies on the street with the naked eye. This scene made their scalp tingle, and warning bells rang throughout the settlement as a large number of team members came to the fortifications, ready to resist the Undead Tide.

The atmosphere was extremely tense.

Yi Xiaodong also arrived at the front line immediately, sweat dripping from his face, asking, ”Why did the Undead Tide suddenly get close to our settlement?”

The Guard Captain, wearing a dark green helmet, said solemnly, ”Leader, the observers noted that the Undead Tide didn’t come here on its own, it was guided by someone.”

”Guided by someone?” Yi Xiaodong opened his eyes wide with surprise, ”Someone wants us dead.”

This was an unexpected development.

”...” The Guard Captain fell silent. If it was just facing zombies, they would of course be fearless, but now with compatriots scheming against them, it was heartbreaking.

Even after the apocalypse, when the entire human survival environment was in dire straits, there were still people in the shadows, striking ruthlessly and playing machinations.

Xu Jie also rushed over, hearing their conversation, anger written all over her face, ”That’s a zombie tide controlled by divine creatures. Aren’t they afraid of getting themselves killed by doing this?”

This ”they” was meaningful. Even before this, the settlement was not always peaceful, but rather experienced extremely bad incidents.

Someone secretly conducted live human sacrifices in the settlement, causing the deaths of several extraordinaries. Although it was eventually discovered, nothing came of it, and only a few small fry were caught.

Such matters couldn’t be thoroughly investigated, nor should they be, as they were too entangled. If things escalated, it would instead cause turmoil in the settlement.

Just as everyone expected to encounter the Undead Tide and engage in fierce combat, the Undead Tide suddenly stopped five hundred meters in front of the settlement’s forward defenses and fell silent, the intermittent roaring came to an abrupt halt.

Thousands of zombies stood eerily still at their original positions, with thousands of eyes staring at them.

”Stopped?” Xu Jie widened her eyes in disbelief, the reality diverging from expectation, like an avalanche abruptly halted halfway down.

Hundreds of people at the front line of the settlement showed the same expression, and for a moment the air was silent. Only the sound of the breeze could be heard, carrying a faint stench, but nobody cared about the nauseating smell; they were already accustomed to it.

Those black-robed figures who were originally preparing to escape also stopped and turned around, uttering in confusion, ”How is it possible, why did the Undead Tide suddenly stop!”

Immediately afterward.

The Undead Tide receded as if the tide was drawing back, seemingly disinclined to attack the base.

Everything happened in silence, appearing extremely eerie.
