Yes.

Those so-called assassins were arranged by Adis, firstly to slander the Housheng Sect as an excuse for their actions, and secondly to persuade Nobu.

If we miss this chance, it will become difficult to overthrow the Housheng Sect again, and there isn’t much time to wait.

However.

The time for them to act is not now, but tomorrow morning, when the Pope of the Housheng Sect will hold an admonishment in the Municipal Square.

By then, the top members of the Housheng Sect will basically be present. If we can wipe them out in one fell swoop, the Housheng Sect will collapse without a fight, and the alliance of more than a dozen religions will also fall apart.

Just like they’ve done before.

”Wait, don’t rush, we’ll take action at dawn.”

Adis sat beside him, took a sip of freshly brewed coffee, and said, ”As I said, you don’t have to be involved in this, you can continue with the trade guild. With the Church’s name, you’ll soon have influence throughout the Southern Continent.”

Antusen is different from ordinary people, possessing a sharp mind. Following him in these dirty deeds is a waste of talent.

Antusen showed a confused expression: ”Why say this now?”

Adis took out a screwdriver, adjusting his mechanical arm while saying: ”I feel this time it might not go so smoothly, if possible, you don’t need to participate.”

Antusen finally sensed something was wrong, coldly said: ”Are you hiding something from me?”

Adis paused his actions, turned his head and stared at him, slowly saying word by word: ”Are you willing to offer everything for the Lord?”

Antusen hesitated: ”What do you mean?”

Adis showed a slight smile, shook his head, and said: ”See, you’re not willing, so I won’t force you.”

He got up and patted Antusen on the shoulder: ”You just wait on the city wall, by the time the sun rises, there should be a result. Brother, trust me, I won’t harm you.”

Antusen took a deep breath as he looked at him, the gray shadow spreading across his cheeks: ”Although I’m not a devout believer, I believe in you, and I hope you can believe in me too.”

...

The stars stirred restlessness, making people willing to slumber in the night, the autumn wind brought coolness, and the red flags fluttered constantly on the city walls.

Before daybreak, Adis openly entered Hero City through the front gate with his people, naturally in plain clothes, probably no one noticed them, no one thought anyone would cause trouble here.

Hero City is also the city with the lowest crime rate in the Southern Continent, and is similarly the city with the highest happiness index.

If it weren’t for the plague, the people here probably would still be carefree, at least for those above the civilian class.

”Damn, why are you so slow, hurry up.”

On the street, a believer wearing a Black Iron Mask scolded the city troops beside him, pointing in the direction of the Municipal Square.

Since the Pope was to make a public appearance, security must be ensured, no mistakes allowed, especially with the people of the All Beings Sect stationed in the small city to the east.

The main content of the admonishment is to pronounce sentences and judge criminals, more like a demonstration to the All Beings Sect, telling them to stop here and not advance further.

Adis didn’t head to the Municipal Square, instead, he went in the opposite direction, towards the Earl’s Mansion.

This Count is also the nominal ruler of Hero City, a founding father, a descendant of Howard Gordon, Count Desai.

Antusen murmured softly: ”This is the Earl’s Mansion.”

Adis, holding a pancake bought from a street vendor, mumbled indistinctly as he ate:

”He is also our target, a believer of the Housheng Sect, who was recognized because of his father’s voice in the beginning.”

Antusen’s eyes shuddered violently, they were actually going to assassinate a Great Noble, this was definitely Adis’ private decision, too insane.

He suddenly grabbed Adis’ arm, whispering: ”You’re crazy! You’ll become a sinner of the Church.”

Adis swallowed the whole pancake calmly and said: ”You said you would believe in me, if you don’t want to do it, you can leave now.”

Assassinating a Great Noble would not be tolerated by the Empire, and would be condemned by all other Nobility.

Antusen calmed down, gritting his teeth, he said: ”Fine, since we’re at this point, there’s no other way.”

Adis smiled upon hearing him say this.

Arriving near the Duke’s Mansion, as he predicted, due to the admonishment, the guards here were instead reduced.

”Stick to the edge.”

Adis skillfully arrived at the side of the Earl’s tightly closed iron gate, then turned into a shadow, passed through, and opened the gate from inside.

They weren’t familiar with the layout of the Duke’s Mansion, so they could only explore on their own. They got information that the Count should be here, though he wouldn’t attend the admonishment, he would go to the chapel for a prayer afterward.

He was also one of the high-ranking members of the Housheng Sect, although nominally just an ordinary believer.

The vast Earl’s Mansion didn’t have many guards, probably because the Count himself hadn’t anticipated anyone would come to assassinate him at this time, thinking that even if the two Churches clashed, it wouldn’t concern him.

Adis quickly locked in on the Count’s location in the shadows, he was in the dining room, about to eat. The long dining table had a lavish breakfast, with sliced ham, roasted bread, thick steaming corn soup, and some broccoli with sauce.

This assassination can’t cause too much commotion, otherwise, it will alert the Housheng Sect, so firearms can’t be used. Probably all witnesses here need to be taken care of, at least not to be discovered within half the time, so he has enough time to assassinate the Pope at the admonishment.

He must kill the Pope under everyone’s gaze to weaken the Housheng Sect’s faith in Hero City.

Adis shot a guard standing at the main entrance with a crossbow arrow, then signaled Antusen to take care of the patrolling guards in the corridor.

Then, his body turned into a phantom, climbed over the window, arrived at the corridor outside the dining room, and approached the maid sweeping the floor with a dagger.

”Ah?”

The maid sensed something and was about to turn around, but a knife pierced through the back of her neck, covering her mouth, and she closed her eyes without much struggle.

Adis opened the main door a crack, noticed Antusen and others were already preparing to take down the patrolling guards on the avenue, and his body turned into a shadow, merging into the dining room’s door, and slipped inside.

”Who?” The Count seemed to notice something as he looked in the direction of the dining room door, standing up from the chair, a knife and fork in his hands.

The Count’s wife looked over, puzzled: ”What happened?”

At this moment, she saw a figure appear behind the Count, stabbing with a dagger.

The Count reacted, but it was too late, the dagger had already penetrated his back, piercing through his lungs.

”Rest in peace.” Adis said softly, looking at the Count’s wife full of terror, drew a flying saber from his waist, and threw it forcefully, hitting the forehead.

After this period of killing, he understood that even nobles were no different from ordinary people at the time of death, the gap between people didn’t seem that big, sometimes it’s just a matter of opportunity.

At this moment, his eyes were pitch black, with no glimmer, his mouth revealed two slender sharp fangs, biting into the Count’s neck.

The blood of a Great Noble contained extraordinary power, he could absorb this power to strengthen himself.

The church bells rang, echoing above the city of influence, under the new dawn.

At the same time.

A guard rushed in from outside the door, seeing the bloody scene in the dining room, without hesitation, picked up a firearm and shot at him.

Bang~

This shot instantly alerted the entire Earl’s Mansion.

Adis turned his head to dodge the bullet, frowning involuntarily, and immediately rushed over, kicking the guard to the ground, then slashed his throat.
