Global Game: I Have Portable Store

However.

He himself actually didn’t harbor much hostility, whether toward humans or New humans; everything he did was for survival, and to strengthen himself.

...

”They’ve found us!”

The Expedition Corps member saw that that group of Zombies split off a portion and started moving toward them, clearly aware of their position, so they immediately, belatedly, began to retreat.

The Undead Tide itself didn’t have very strong mobility. After all, Zombie movement Speed couldn’t compare to some Extraordinary Creatures, so it wasn’t that easy to catch these few New humans secretly watching from afar; they could only have the Big Horn launch a flanking sneak attack.

The problem was, although the Big Horn’s Speed was fast, it wasn’t necessarily a match for these New humans.

Though there weren’t many of these New humans, each of them was at least at Tier Eight level, and they definitely also had some Mysterious Items. Their actual combat strength might even be greater than that of ordinary Extraordinary Creatures.

So under these circumstances, Su Changxing could only split off a portion of the Undead Tide to drive them away.

And just as he wished, when these New humans saw the Undead Tide surging toward them, they sensibly withdrew, without making any excessive moves.

If it wasn’t necessary, he really didn’t want to provoke these people. Unlike Extraordinary Creatures, humans were interconnected—kill one and you might attract a whole group.

Previously, it seemed to be precisely because he’d had too much contact with humans that he ended up being targeted, drawing in a powerful Tier Eight Extraordinary. If he hadn’t possessed an extra Ability, he might truly not have been a match.

From the human perspective, monsters are terrifying.

From the monsters’ perspective, when are humans not terrifying as well—extremely vengeful, and capable of joint combat. Just like Zombies, they kill batch after batch.

What the Demon King fears isn’t any single Hero, but one batch of Heroes after another, Heroes that can’t all be killed off. No matter how powerful he is, one day he will still fall.

Su Changxing worried that that thing underground would come out again, so he simply led the Undead Tide all the way back into the safe zone. For him now, this place could be considered absolutely safe: there were almost no Tier Eight Extraordinary Creatures; the greatest threat was the human Gathering Places. Yet from his Observation, the strength of these Gathering Places wasn’t that great—the strongest probably had only a Tier Eight Extraordinary.

He would likely stay in the safe zone for a while, until he had completely digested all the Tier Eight Extraordinary Crystals gathered this time.

Just like with hunting, you typically don’t hunt continuously; you only begin the next hunt after you’ve almost finished eating the prey you caught last time.

He was making the Zombie Clone stronger not just so that the Clone could survive better in this world; he also wanted to explore the truth behind that giant hand.

A single arm being able to exert such a far-reaching impact on a world must be an existence on par with a Divine Spirit, and might even be related to the secrets of the Doomsday Game.

This world itself was anything but ordinary.

The streets were densely packed with Zombies, yet it didn’t feel crowded. They followed Su Changxing along the road in an orderly fashion, and more Zombies joined them along the way.

The Zombie density inside the safe zone was greater than outside, so not long after entering here, the number of the Undead Tide broke thirty thousand and reached forty thousand.

Such a commotion was huge; the nearby Gathering Places could directly observe the movement of the Undead Tide, and they had never seen such a massive Undead Tide before—it made their scalps tingle.

The Lan feng Gathering Place, closest to them, was even shivering all over. It had just been heavily damaged by pollution, and even its leader seemed to have died at the hands of that Divine Creature.

Thin blue smoke curled upward.

The cigarette tip burned, ash falling.

A middle-aged man in shabby clothes, with an unkempt beard, let out a long sigh. ”Troublesome. Since you knew he was going to go, why didn’t you stop him?”

He was Yi Xiaodong, the deputy leader of the South Wind Gathering Place, mainly in charge of resource allocation. Now he was probably also the leader of this Gathering Place, because the former leader had so irresponsibly gone and died.

Xu Jie, wearing a cropped top that revealed her midriff and with a graceful figure, sighed and shook her head. ”If he’s set his mind on something, how could I possibly change it? It’s not like you don’t know just how stubborn he is.”

”He was too confident, confident to the point of firmly believing that his way of doing things was definitely correct. Maybe it really had always been like that before, but he died on the one and only mistaken judgment he ever made.”

”He still underestimated the Divine Creatures, or rather... he let greed cloud his judgment. No one can completely avoid the desire for great Power, not even him.”

She felt her eyes grow somewhat moist and fell silent.

Yi Xiaodong leaned back in his chair, tilting his head to stare at the ceiling, his eyes dull. ”He really was a troublesome man. Even his death is so troublesome—still forcing me to become this leader.”

Xu Jie took a deep breath and said with a serious look, ”I’m afraid you’re the only one in the Gathering Place who’s qualified. And it’s an extraordinary period right now; the Gathering Place can’t withstand any turmoil.”

”That’s my responsibility as well. Maybe if I’d been more forceful, he wouldn’t have gone. It’s obvious if you think about it—how could Divine Creatures possibly be that simple?”

A trace of expression finally appeared on Yi Xiaodong’s numb, indifferent face. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly as he said softly:

”It’s precisely because they’re not that simple that he went. You think it was out of greed, but in truth, he felt an enormous threat.”
