Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 399: Chapter 389: Formulating the Plan

Tang Mo’s original plan was that if the Meat Dragon’s sea of consciousness proved too difficult to destroy, she would simply extend the timeline, taking a few days to recover before continuing.

After all, she had no Crystal Stones to constantly replenish her energy. To restore her spiritual power, she could only rely on sleeping—the most primitive method of recuperation.

But to Tang Mo’s surprise, the Meat Dragon’s sea of consciousness was much smaller than she had anticipated.

It didn’t even require any effort to destroy. The moment Tang Mo’s spiritual power so much as touched it, the fragile sea of consciousness completely collapsed on its own.

If that was the case, then everything that followed would be much, much easier.

In truth, it was perfectly normal for a Meat Dragon’s sea of consciousness to be so fragile. After all, the creatures had almost no consciousness of their own; their minds contained nothing but the concept of hunger.

For such a simple-minded creature, it would have been truly abnormal if its sea of consciousness were vast.

Even Tang Mo, who was usually quite level-headed, felt a surge of excitement. ’Could it be that even the heavens are helping me?’

After testing one, Tang Mo continued her attempts. Only after she had easily destroyed the consciousness of every Meat Dragon in the area did she finally confirm that they were, in fact, this fragile.

Furthermore, the seas of consciousness of the Red-eyed Meat Dragons were identical to those of the ordinary ones; both could be dealt with almost effortlessly.

Tang Mo breathed a sigh of relief, but the people behind her felt as if their hearts were on a roller coaster, watching the scene unfold with breathless anxiety.

However, when they saw the Red-eyed Meat Dragons’ eyes instantly return to their normal color and their expressions soften, they began to feel that things might be moving in the right direction after all.

As for the ordinary Meat Dragons, which had looked dopey to begin with, they now looked even stupider.

”Don’t worry. This way, the Meat Dragons pose no threat to humans.”

Tang Mo reached her hand through the fence, but the Meat Dragons acted as if they didn’t even see it, ignoring her completely.

Once their seas of consciousness were destroyed, they became living corpses—more docile than the most well-behaved pets. They just stood there like lifeless decorations.

Seeing that the Meat Dragons didn’t attack, the group of leaders behind Tang Mo finally breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Along with their relief came a greater surge of excitement. It seemed the plan to save the world was truly feasible.

They would leave a significant mark on the future history of humankind.

Since every step had been proven viable, the rest was a matter of course. Everyone led Tang Mo to a massive conference room.

The group of over twenty people included Yang Jie—Yang Ahua’s father—and his confidants, the managers of the base’s various departments, and the base’s military strategists and think tank—the masterminds.

Every person wore a solemn expression, as if poised for battle, treating this as the most important fight of their lives.

They first brainstormed to establish a rough plan. Then, each person took turns speaking, adding details or raising points for discussion regarding the areas they knew best. The plan was continuously revised, inching closer to perfection.

During this phase, Tang Mo mostly just sat and listened quietly.

She had merely used her ability, along with some experience from facing similar crises in her own world, to provide them with a new approach and a new possibility.

However, actually implementing this grand plan was no easy task.

Everyone here possessed profound political and military acumen. The scope of their discussions and the far-reaching implications they considered were things Tang Mo had never even thought about.

Sitting there and listening to them speak, Tang Mo felt as if she were in a masterclass, rapidly absorbing all sorts of experience and knowledge to enrich herself and grow.

Besides, when it came to this world and the current state of the apocalypse, she knew far less than anyone else in the room.

To truly put theory into practice, they would have to rely on everyone’s collective strength.

At that moment, Tang Mo suddenly felt insignificant. While her own power was indeed crucial in certain aspects, she still had so much to learn.

To truly be a one-woman army, it took more than just high Combat Power; a flexible, intelligent, and experienced mind was absolutely essential.

「From afternoon to late night, and then to early morning.」

The discussion lasted the entire night. Everyone seemed to forget their fatigue. No one suggested ending the meeting; on the contrary, as the plan became more and more complete, their excitement grew in spite of their exhaustion.

Pitcher after pitcher of water was brought into the conference room. It wasn’t until ten o’clock the next morning that a nearly perfect plan lay before each of them.

Everyone was satisfied. Finally, Yang Jie made the executive decision: they would all go back and rest, then announce the plan to all the troops. The operation would begin in one day!

The crowd dispersed. Tang Mo returned to her quarters, first greeting Mr. and Mrs. Qiao, who were already awake, and then went to Qi Jiaming’s room.

”Should I send you back first?”

There would be so much to do later that she might not have enough time.

Qi Jiaming had already done so much for her; she couldn’t waste any more of his time.

”What were you talking to Yang Jie about?” Qi Jiaming asked. He had seen Qiao Jin waiting to enter Boss Yang’s room and then not return for a whole day and night.

Knowing Qiao Jin, he didn’t think she was up to anything bad. In his eyes, Qiao Jin was definitely up to something—something big.

”Just discussing how to save the world,” Tang Mo said jokingly.

’Then again, considering what she was doing, calling it ’saving the world’ wasn’t really an exaggeration, was it?’

Qi Jiaming fell silent. He didn’t think Qiao Jin was joking in the slightest.

From the very beginning when Qiao Jin led him in digging a tunnel to escape, to her fearless attitude toward the Meat Dragons, to rescuing them from the food factory... hearing her say the words ”save the world,” Qi Jiaming didn’t find it funny at all.

”Can I go with you?”

Every boy dreams of being a hero. Who hasn’t fantasized about becoming the great hero who saves the world?

And now, that very opportunity was right in front of him. Qi Jiaming didn’t want to miss it.

He had always possessed a strong sense of justice; otherwise, he wouldn’t have rushed from his home without a second thought to protect Qiao Jin’s parents.

Besides, he was a superpower user and wasn’t stupid. Even if he couldn’t be of great help, he certainly wouldn’t be a burden.

”Then you’re not going home? What about your parents?”

In truth, Tang Mo wasn’t surprised that Qi Jiaming wanted to take part in the plan. After all this time, she had a good understanding of his character.
