Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 356: Chapter 346: There’s a Way Out

”Fine. If you’re not afraid of being eaten by monsters, we’ll go out together.”

Qi Jiaming was a Power User, but given Tang Mo’s need to travel quickly, he couldn’t be of much help.

But after all these days, the kid had been her free labor for so long that Tang Mo didn’t mind taking him out, seeing him home, and acting as a free driver for once.

”What about the people at the school? Are you taking them out?”

Everyone knew that the school’s food supply wouldn’t last much longer.

But this place was safe, after all, with no monsters inside. If they really left, the road ahead would be long and dangerous. Without anyone to meet them on the other side, could they really get home safely?

”If they want to leave, they can leave. If they don’t, no one will force them. It’s their own choice.”

Although Tang Mo had dug this tunnel herself, she had no intention of collecting a toll for the road she’d opened.

If they wanted to leave through the tunnel on their own, Tang Mo wouldn’t care.

Life and death are a matter of fate; wealth and honor are up to heaven. In the end, a person’s destiny comes down to their own choices.

Tang Mo certainly didn’t stay idle that night. Since the tunnel was about to be completely cleared, she decided to work overtime, pulling an all-nighter until five in the morning. She finally dragged her exhausted body and eyes that could barely stay open back to the dorm.

If this were her own body, she wouldn’t have been this exhausted at all.

But Qiao Jin’s body was simply too weak. This much exertion had left her completely spent.

Qi Jiaming, on the other hand, was still full of energy after moving rocks all night, as if he hadn’t had enough. He looked like he could go for another three days and three nights.

If the tunnel hadn’t been completely cleared, he wouldn’t have wanted to go back at all.

Tang Mo returned to the dorm, ate something quickly, and lay down. She slept very deeply, and when she woke up again, it was already one in the afternoon.

There was no time to lose. Better sooner than later. She was going to leave today.

But they had all been trapped here together for so long; it wouldn’t be right for her to just disappear. The principal knew about the tunnel, so she planned to let him know before she left.

”You really blew open the tunnel entrance?”

The principal wasn’t very surprised to hear that Qiao Jin was leaving.

From the first moment he saw the obviously blasted tunnel, he knew that the girl, Qiao Jin, had her secrets. He also knew that she intended to rely on her own power to get out.

”I’m leaving today. I was wondering, will you and the others be staying here, Principal?”

”How about we all leave together tomorrow?”

The principal was the principal, after all. With the bigger picture at stake, he still put the school first.

If they could leave with Qiao Jin, it might not be a bad thing. This girl’s power should be enough to protect everyone.

”I’m not going with you.”

Tang Mo shook her head. She was in a hurry to get home and would naturally use her spiritual power to travel. It was impossible for her to go with a large group.

It was one thing to be Qi Jiaming’s taxi driver, but to act as a tour bus for everyone and drop them all off at home one by one was out of the question. She wasn’t a saint.

At Qiao Jin’s words, the light in the principal’s eyes dimmed.

The tunnel entrance was open, but the journey was long, and they didn’t have much food...

The principal began to hesitate. His decision concerned the lives of over a hundred people. He had to be careful with such a heavy responsibility on his shoulders.

After all, staying here still guaranteed their safety. If they just waited a little longer for rescue...

”Principal, you should remember from my father’s last message what the situation outside is like. The man-eating monsters are everywhere except here. Now that the tunnel has created a channel to the outside world, this place will soon be unsafe. If the monsters do break in, you’ll all be trapped here with nowhere to run. I wonder what your chances of survival would be then.”

This was an enclosed area. Although she didn’t know why, Tang Mo had scanned it before and confirmed that it was truly safe, at least within these mountains. There was no trace of any mutant beasts.

But now that the tunnel was open, creating a connection to the outside world, that safety probably wouldn’t last for long.

Since Tang Mo was the one who opened the tunnel and broke this safe barrier, she felt she should at least inform the principal so he could factor this problem into his considerations.

”Right... the monsters...”

They had been trapped here for so long. The isolated life had almost made them forget the contents of that letter, to the point they thought the outside world was just like this place.

”Let me think, let me think...”

This was a huge decision, concerning the lives of over a hundred people. It couldn’t be decided in a moment. The principal covered his forehead with his hand, frowning in deep thought.

Seeing the principal like this, Tang Mo didn’t disturb him any further. She quietly excused herself and went to find Qi Jiaming.

She planned to set off in the afternoon before dark. Since she had decided to be the driver, she naturally had to take the kid with her.

Qi Jiaming had long been ready to leave with Qiao Jin. His only fear was that she would leave him behind. The silly kid, who had worked hard moving rocks all night, didn’t even dare to sleep and just sat waiting at the dorm entrance.

”Have you packed your things?”

Seeing Qiao Jin approach him, Qi Jiaming’s eyes lit up.

”Packed a long time ago! I’ll go get my bag!”

He didn’t have much to begin with. Since they had a long journey down the mountain and far to go, traveling light was a must.

Qi Jiaming had packed a single backpack as soon as he’d gotten back, just waiting for Qiao Jin to summon him.

Tang Mo was also wearing a backpack, stuffed full of food and water.

Although traveling with spiritual power was extremely fast, she no longer had her Space. It was always wise to bring extra food, just in case.

Just as she was waiting for Qi Jiaming below the dormitory, a deafening voice suddenly echoed throughout the entire building.

”Assemble downstairs! Quickly!”

It was the principal’s voice.

’I can’t believe the principal, at his age and eating so little to save food for the students, still has such a powerful voice.’

Leaning against the building and lost in thought, Tang Mo herself was startled.

’So the principal is a decisive person after all, figuring out the path for their group in just ten minutes.’

”Hurry up and assemble!”

The principal had always maintained a gentle, smiling image at school. Even after being trapped here for so long, he had never been this stern.

’Something big must have happened.’ Hearing his voice, the students didn’t even hesitate, immediately throwing on clothes and shoes and jumping out of bed.

Had someone come to rescue them?

Or had the monsters from outside appeared here?

Countless thoughts raced through everyone’s minds as they hurried to assemble at the dormitory entrance.

In less than three minutes, the entire building—all the teachers and students—had appeared at the dormitory entrance.

Qi Jiaming came out with his backpack on, completely bewildered. Seeing the massive crowd at the entrance, he was even more confused.

’Did Boss Qiao change her mind? Is she planning to take everyone with us?’
