Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 355: Chapter 345: Reaping What You Sow

Qi Jiaming had, of course, seen what happened that day.

’But... why would he help her?’

”What are you talking about? Weren’t you the one who asked Qiao Jin to meet you late at night? She was so scared she came to me specifically to borrow a voice recorder. How dare you try to pin the blame on her now?”

Qi Jiaming brushed off the sleeve Zhang Siyang had just touched, looking utterly disgusted.

Tang Mo almost burst out laughing. She quickly lowered her head so no one could see her expression.

’So the real masters of acting are hidden in plain sight. If she weren’t the one involved, she would have almost believed Qi Jiaming’s words.’

”You’re lying! You’re in league with Qiao Jin! She’s clearly the one who pushed me down, why aren’t you saying that!”

Seeing the only other witness spouting lies, Zhang Siyang completely lost it.

’How could this be? It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Even though I was the one who lured Qiao Jin out and set the trap, right now, I’m clearly the one who’s suffered, the one who’s been wronged!’

But who would believe a word Zhang Siyang said now?

After what she’d done, with the recording as irrefutable proof, what defense could she possibly offer?

Her credibility in everyone’s eyes had dropped to zero. She was like the boy who cried wolf; now that the wolf was actually here, no one believed her.

Besides, Qiao Jin had always kept to herself. No one had ever seen her get close to anyone. The idea that Qi Jiaming was covering for her was simply unbelievable.

Indeed, Qiao Jin always waited until late at night, after everyone else was asleep, to take Qi Jiaming out to blast open the cave tunnel.

The only other person who knew was Teacher Chen, who stood watch every night. But Teacher Chen was unconditionally on Qiao Jin’s side, so why would he say anything right now?

Zhang Siyang’s last bit of strength gave out, and she collapsed to the ground.

She was already a complete mess after several days in the pit. Now, with the last of her strength drained away, she looked even more dejected.

Tang Mo watched the students surround Zhang Siyang, their gazes as sharp as knives.

’No, that’s not right. An ordinary knife can only harm the body. The knives in their eyes were slicing away at the heart of the person they stared at.’

Condemnation from such a moral high ground wasn’t something an inexperienced teenage girl could easily withstand.

’Xiao Jin, this is the kind of situation you had to endure back then, wasn’t it.’

Tang Mo watched the scene unfold before her, a near-perfect reenactment of the past. ’A girl like Xiao Jin... how devastated she must have been to face all that back then.’

How could Zhang Siyang have ever imagined that she would one day have to repay, twofold, the suffering she inflicted on Qiao Jin?

What goes around comes around. It’s not that karma doesn’t exist; sometimes, it’s just a matter of time.

Truthfully, for someone like Tang Mo who had seen and experienced so much, the opinions of others meant little.

’Isn’t there a saying? Someone who never intended to be a ”good person” can never be held hostage by the opinions of others.’

However, for these young girls, social death was undoubtedly the cruelest punishment of all.

’Xiao Jin, you must be watching, right? All the misunderstandings, all the grievances you suffered—today, the truth has finally come to light.’

’The one who bullied you has received her just deserts. You can let it go now, can’t you?’

Tang Mo spoke these words in her heart. She didn’t know if the deceased Qiao Jin could see any of this. But since she was fulfilling her last wish, Xiao Jin had to be able to feel it, right?

At this very moment, Tang Mo suddenly felt a surge of power in her chest.

That wasn’t her own power; it was the last of Qiao Jin’s energy left in this body.

The energy seemed agitated. After surging for a moment, it gradually settled.

Afterward, Tang Mo felt the body become a little lighter. The tightness in her chest eased considerably, no longer feeling so oppressive.

’Looks like I’ve fulfilled Qiao Jin’s first wish.’

Tang Mo sighed in relief.

Zhang Siyang had completely broken down, sitting on the ground and muttering incoherently.

Tang Mo shook her head. ’To think a teenage girl could have such a venomous heart. Her current fate is well-deserved.’

Since Qiao Jin’s wish was now fulfilled, Tang Mo had no intention of being merciless. She had been rushing to finish that painting for the past few days and was exhausted. She wanted to use the remaining time to go back and get some proper rest.

Tang Mo ignored the scene and turned to walk back to her dorm room.

When the surrounding students saw ”Qiao Jin” acting so magnanimously by not pressing the issue, their admiration for her grew.

’I can’t believe Qiao Jin is so broad-minded. Not only did she not blame us, she didn’t even go after Zhang Siyang too harshly.’

’If this had happened to me, could I have done the same?’

’No way.’

The main party had already left, bringing the incident to a close. With no more drama to watch, the crowd slowly dispersed.

All that remained were Zhang Siyang, still collapsed on the ground, and a group of teachers.

Under the circumstances, no one was going to help Zhang Siyang. The principal had no choice but to ask two teachers to take her back to the school.

Although Zhang Siyang had made a grave mistake, they were all trapped here. As the principal, he had to ensure everyone he brought with him made it out alive.

Since Qiao Jin’s current attitude suggested she didn’t want to press the matter immediately, things would be left as they were for now.

As for what Zhang Siyang had done, he would of course report it to the police once they got out and let them handle it.

After returning to her room, Tang Mo quickly fell asleep. After all, she had more important things to do that night.

”Boss Qiao, when this tunnel is clear, are you planning on leaving by yourself?”

That night, Qi Jiaming was back at it, cheerfully doing the manual labor as usual. It was a mystery how a pampered rich kid like him could be so happy doing the dirty, exhausting work of moving rocks.

Sometimes Tang Mo suspected Qi Jiaming might be a masochist.

The tunnel was almost completely blasted through. It looked like they could break it wide open tonight.

Boss Qiao was the nickname Qi Jiaming had given Qiao Jin.

”Mm.”

’Now, only one of Qiao Jin’s wishes remained—the one concerning her mother. Tang Mo had to get back to Qiao Jin’s mother as quickly as possible to see how she was doing. Time was precious; she couldn’t afford any more delays.’

”Then I’ll go with you!”

Qi Jiaming worked energetically, his mind already made up.

”You’re not afraid of the monsters outside?”

”Afraid? My Strength is immense! What have I got to be afraid of? Didn’t you say I’m a Power Attribute Superpower User? That makes me one of the chosen! Blessed with natural Divine Power!”

The thing Tang Mo admired most about Qi Jiaming was his incredible mindset. It was as if nothing could ever faze him.
