Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 398: Chapter 388: Experiment

”Let’s hear it.” Knowing Tang Mo’s many abilities, and coupled with what she had just said, Mr. Yang Sr. didn’t think for a moment that the slender young woman before him was bluffing.

”Since you know I have spiritual power, and that flight is one of its applications, then you must also be aware that spiritual power can be used for control, correct?”

Mr. Yang Sr. nodded.

He didn’t just manage the base; he had also spent a long time meticulously studying the various changes in the world since the apocalypse.

This, of course, included the study of various superpowers.

This world was different from the one Tang Mo came from. Here, there were no ID Watches, and information didn’t circulate freely.

Fortunately, Mr. Yang Sr. possessed more than enough samples, which still made large-scale statistical analysis possible.

He was aware of Spiritual Abilities. After lengthy discussions and analysis with the handful of Spirit Attribute Superpower Users at the base, he knew that spiritual power could manifest in many ways, including for the purpose of control.

However, no one had managed to achieve Spiritual Control, as it required an immense amount of spiritual power—far more than any of the Spiritual Ability Users at the base possessed.

”Don’t tell me you’ve already achieved Spiritual Control?”

Mr. Yang Sr. found it unbelievable. The young woman before him had actually accomplished something no other Spiritual Ability User in the entire base could.

’But then again,’ he thought, ’none of the good-for-nothings in my own base can even fly.’ The idea suddenly didn’t seem so far-fetched.

He had to admit, the young woman before him was the strongest Spirit Attribute Superpower User he had seen in a very long time.

”But, just controlling a single Meat Dragon is useless, isn’t it?”

Mr. Yang Sr. shook his head. ’What good is the Strength of a single person, no matter how powerful they are?’

On this point, Mr. Yang Sr. was mistaken. In most cases, the power of a team is indeed greater than the Strength of an individual.

But if that one person’s Strength was great enough—surpassing an entire team and reaching a terrifying level—they could actually accomplish far more.

If an individual’s Strength seemed insufficient, the problem wasn’t the individual. The problem was that they simply weren’t strong enough.

”What if I could control all the mutant beasts in the city?”

”All the mutant beasts in the city?” Mr. Yang Sr.’s eyes filled with disbelief. Even though he had always known this young woman was no ordinary person, he felt her claim was a massive exaggeration.

”Do you have any idea how many Meat Dragons there are in this city? Every single street is teeming with countless mutant beasts.”

Mr. Yang Sr. was trying to make the young woman face reality and think carefully before speaking.

”Of course.”

Tang Mo had considered it carefully. With her level of spiritual power, it wouldn’t be difficult at all. In fact, she could do it with ease.

Because Tang Mo already treated her spiritual power as an extension of her own body, she understood one thing very clearly: Spiritual Control and spiritual destruction were two different things.

If Spiritual Control was a temporary conquest that preserved the target’s sea of consciousness, allowing one to withdraw unharmed, then spiritual destruction was like a violent demolition. A single strike was all it took to completely shatter the target’s sea of consciousness.

The former required a vast amount of spiritual power and Heart Power, while the latter was incredibly simple.

And what Tang Mo planned to do now was spiritual destruction.

Those Meat Dragons had no real reason to exist, so simply destroying their minds would be sufficient.

Tang Mo’s plan was actually quite simple: use her spiritual power to destroy the minds of most of the Meat Dragons in the city, regardless of their type.

The Meat Dragons whose seas of consciousness were destroyed would immediately become harmless, dim-witted creatures, regardless of whether they were well-fed or starving.

At that point, all Mr. Yang Sr.’s teams would need to do is go out and start killing. It wouldn’t be a battle; it would be a slaughter.

Meat Dragons were not particularly mobile mutant beasts. Even the Red-eyed Meat Dragons would only attack living creatures in their immediate vicinity, giving a simple chase rather than actively hunting. They just weren’t that intelligent.

Once the city was temporarily made safe, people from the surrounding areas who heard the news would be much more eager to enter.

The whole city would be filled with dim-witted monsters that couldn’t turn aggressive.

For the price of simply hauling away one of these Meat Dragons, you could trade it for food. Who wouldn’t want to get in on a deal with no startup cost?

This one event would set a precedent. Using this as a catalyst, with the Yang Family Base’s city as the epicenter, everyone who heard the news would flock here to get food.

After Tang Mo explained her plan to Mr. Yang Sr. in detail, the expression on his face could no longer be described as mere ecstasy. He was trembling, his body shaking uncontrollably with overwhelming excitement.

’Have we really found a way to save all of humanity?’

”Can it really work?”

”It can. You should have some live Meat Dragons in your base, right? Why don’t we run an experiment first?”

Seeing is believing. To make Mr. Yang Sr. truly believe her and to ensure her plan could be carried out, Tang Mo decided to run an experiment first. She would try destroying the minds of a few Meat Dragons.

In truth, she had never attempted a spiritual destruction on a Meat Dragon before, so she didn’t know how difficult the big brutes would be to handle.

But regardless of the difficulty, Tang Mo’s goal was simple: destroy as many as she possibly could.

’If it consumes too much spiritual power,’ she thought, ’I’ll just spread it out over a few days. I’ll finish it eventually.’

And now was the time for Tang Mo to test just how much spiritual power was needed to destroy a single Meat Dragon.

The Yang Family Base, of course, had Meat Dragons. After all, so many people depended on their meat for survival. The base had specifically fenced off an area to keep live ones.

They had to maintain a food reserve, after all, and meat from a creature that had been dead too long wouldn’t keep well.

Tang Mo stood before the cage holding the Meat Dragons. Beside her were Mr. Yang Sr., his confidants, and several other high-ranking base officials. This group consisted mostly of men in their forties or even fifties. At this moment, they stood behind Tang Mo, their faces etched with caution, not daring to even breathe too loudly as they stared unblinkingly at the scene unfolding before them.

They had already heard about this magnificent plan, a plan that held the future of the entire world in its balance.

In these chaotic times, what man hadn’t dreamed of being a hero?

And now, whether this plan to save humanity could succeed all depended on what happened next.

Tang Mo looked at the few Red-eyed Meat Dragons in the cage, randomly selected one, and targeted it for spiritual destruction.

For a moment, Tang Mo froze.

She hadn’t expected the Meat Dragon’s sea of consciousness to be so small. The instant her offensive spiritual power made contact, it immediately collapsed.

’That was... way too easy.’
