Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 351: Chapter 341: Superpower User

”Why are you following me?” Being followed was never a pleasant feeling, especially when you realized you’d been tailed for so long without even noticing.

’Looks like I’ve been getting too complacent lately. To make a mistake like this after surviving in the apocalypse for so long.’

”Don’t be angry. If I hadn’t followed you here today, I never would have known about the last competition...”

Qi Jiaming looked at the girl before him, a hint of heartache in his eyes.

He hadn’t expected that behind the unfair treatment this girl had endured for so long lay such a profound injustice.

Tang Mo nodded.

’Good. It seems he heard everything. My words weren’t wasted. Excellent.’

”Since you know everything now, there’s nothing else, right? You can go back?”

Tang Mo hadn’t forgotten that she had a mission tonight. She was very concerned about the tunnel, as it was directly related to when she could finally get out of here.

”Right... and her?”

Qi Jiaming glanced at Zhang Siyang in the pit, who was still glaring up at them, completely oblivious to what she had done wrong. Then he looked back at Tang Mo.

”What, you want to save her?” If he was planning on playing the hero, Tang Mo was definitely going to stop him.

’Mess with me and then try to walk away so easily? Not happening.’

”That’s not my intention. If you’re not tired yet, why don’t we go over to the tunnel and talk about it?”

Qi Jiaming’s family was in business, so he was long accustomed to such schemes and deceptions.

Zhang Siyang was reaping what she sowed. What did that have to do with him? He wasn’t one to meddle in other people’s business.

Right now, he was more concerned about the tunnel entrance and what it had to do with Qiao Jin.

”The tunnel? What about it? It’s cold out. I’m going back to sleep.”

Tang Mo didn’t know why Qi Jiaming cared about the tunnel. She’d had enough trouble for one night and couldn’t be bothered explaining things to an unrelated person.

”How about we make a deal?” Qi Jiaming had anticipated that Qiao Jin wouldn’t agree so easily.

But he had a bargaining chip.

Qi Jiaming waved the recording pen in his hand.

He had originally intended to use it while following Qiao Jin, but he had unexpectedly recorded these hidden secrets.

”This truth should be very important to you, right?”

Qi Jiaming was certain the contents of the recording pen were important to Qiao Jin.

After all, when the results of that competition were announced, Qiao Jin had been completely devastated when she saw the painting Zhang Siyang had won with.

’He actually recorded it? Isn’t this...’

’...heaven itself helping me.’

Tang Mo stared at the recording pen in Qi Jiaming’s hand, overjoyed. This was truly an effortless gain.

She reached out, snatched the recording pen from Qi Jiaming’s hand, and tucked it into her bag.

”Let’s go. I’ll take you to go blast the tunnel.”

Having accepted his payment, Tang Mo naturally had a bit more patience for Qi Jiaming.

Blasting the tunnel wasn’t really a secret. After all, everyone moved rocks every day and had a good idea of the tunnel’s progress; it was just that no one had brought the matter out into the open yet.

Telling Qi Jiaming now was no big deal. Sometimes, the more you hide something, the more curious others become.

”Stand back a little.”

Tang Mo and Qi Jiaming walked into the tunnel, which already extended a fair distance. She told Qi Jiaming to stand further back, then began to blast the tunnel with her spiritual power.

BOOM! With a blast of Tang Mo’s spiritual power, the tunnel extended several more meters. Countless rock fragments tumbled out, piling up at her feet.

”Did you see that clearly?” Tang Mo looked back at Qi Jiaming.

Her spiritual power was golden. Qi Jiaming had been staring intently, so he should have seen it clearly.

”I saw it. What was that?”

Qi Jiaming had watched the whole thing without blinking. He felt like he was watching a movie—a sci-fi movie, at that.

Nothing that was happening seemed like it could be real.

Then again, everything they had been experiencing lately was already surreal, like an apocalyptic movie.

So, what he had just seen wasn’t that hard to comprehend, after all.

”Have you ever heard of superpowers?” Tang Mo asked him in return.

For people in the modern world who watched enough movies and spent time online, it shouldn’t be hard to understand.

Superpower?

Qi Jiaming silently processed that word.

After a moment, he silently walked to Tang Mo’s side. He looked at the freshly blasted rubble, found the two largest stones—each about half a person’s height—then found a grip on one with a single hand and easily lifted it.

”Does... this count as a superpower?”

The main reason Qi Jiaming was so determined to uncover the tunnel’s secret was because of the changes he had felt in his own body.

From the very first time he came to the tunnel with Qiao Jin and started moving rocks, he had noticed his body seemed different from the others’.

His strength seemed far greater than the other guys’. No matter how big or heavy a rock was, he could lift it effortlessly with one hand.

Qi Jiaming knew full well that this was not a weight a normal person could lift.

Watching Qi Jiaming hold the rock, everything clicked into place for Tang Mo.

”You have a Strength Attribute superpower. Congratulations.”

A Strength Attribute superpower was very practical for a man to have, especially since it was a very useful attribute for future combat.

”Strength Attribute?” Qi Jiaming put down the rock and looked at his own hands, overjoyed.

He had known the changes in his body weren’t a bad thing, but now that it was confirmed he had a Strength Attribute superpower, his resolve to get out of this place grew even stronger.

”So I can help you dig the tunnel, too?”

Feeling his body coursing with power, a motivated Qi Jiaming asked Tang Mo.

Since Qiao Jin could dig the tunnel, it was only natural that he, who also had a superpower, should help.

In that moment, Qi Jiaming saw himself as a comrade-in-arms sharing a secret with Qiao Jin. It felt as if on this entire mountain, they were the only two special people, and only they knew this secret.

He had to get out of here, and fast. He was certain he could get out of here.

”Of course. Welcome aboard.”

An extra laborer with a Strength Attribute, and free of charge? Tang Mo couldn’t have asked for more; there was no reason to refuse. She immediately agreed with a beaming smile.

’Tonight’s haul really isn’t bad at all.’ Tang Mo stood aside, delighted, as she watched Qi Jiaming roll up his sleeves and start frantically moving rocks.

The day she could leave this place was now a little bit closer.
