Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 390: Chapter 380: Injured

”Okay.” Qiao Xin glanced toward the door, then looked away and left.

Tang Mo hadn’t had a chance to tell George Lin that Qiao Xin was here, so the siblings hadn’t seen each other yet.

But since everyone was here safe and sound, there was no rush.

Tang Mo had no intention of waking Mr. and Mrs. Qiao. They had worked so hard for so long; they deserved a good rest.

However... she glanced toward Zhao Huan’s room.

’Since Zhao Huan already brought the child out, why would he still be sleeping after all this time?’

Zhao Huan wasn’t the type to relax after completing a mission. Given his personality, now that he had finally managed to rescue the child, he should have been in a hurry to collect the mission reward.

There were no communication devices left in the world, so no one else knew he had found the child. He would have to deliver the kid himself for the mission to count.

’So what could be the reason?’

Tang Mo slowly extended her spiritual power into the room.

Normally, she rarely used this method to pry into others’ privacy, but sometimes, you just had to.

But when she saw the situation inside the room, Tang Mo’s relaxed expression instantly tensed.

Zhao Huan was injured.

There were too many gawkers staring at Zhao Huan’s room outside. It was clearly not a good time for Tang Mo to go in under everyone’s watchful eyes.

She also didn’t want the people here to know about Zhao Huan’s injury. After all, he was everyone’s pillar of support right now. If something happened to him, there was no telling how chaotic this place would become.

Not that Tang Mo cared how chaotic it got. It was all the same to her.

But with Mr. and Mrs. Qiao here now, everything was different.

Tang Mo had to consider more things now. If possible, she had to provide a more stable environment for Mr. and Mrs. Qiao, allowing them to live more peacefully until she could find a final solution to the problem.

”I just saw that monster drag a body over to the entrance! The body had a backpack on. I wonder which poor woman it was. All that food she saved, and for what? Just to lose her life.”

Tang Mo deliberately said this while standing in the crowd.

Her specialty was using the most cost-effective methods to achieve her goals.

Sure enough, after hearing her words, everyone started heading down to the ground floor entrance.

Food. They hadn’t found any in so long, and every one of them was famished.

As for Zhao Huan?

He was safe in his room and couldn’t run off. Even if he wanted to, he’d have to go through the only main entrance, right? They weren’t worried.

Soon, the hallway was empty.

Satisfied, Tang Mo used a Wind Blade to slice off the lock, entered the room, and closed the door behind her.

Inside, Zhao Huan lay on the floor, which was stained with his blood.

Tang Mo didn’t know what Zhao Huan had gone through to get the boy out after she left last night, but one thing was certain: he had been discovered and had fought a vicious battle.

Tang Mo placed her hand on Zhao Huan’s body. Thankfully, he was still warm. He was still breathing.

Qiao Jin’s parents needed a leader like Zhao Huan right now. Only in a group like this would they feel more secure. So, no matter her motives, Tang Mo had to save this man.

Fortunately, though Zhao Huan’s injury looked frightening, it was only an external wound.

Tang Mo checked it. It was on his back.

Someone had slashed a very deep gash into Zhao Huan’s back with a sharp weapon.

With that amount of blood loss, he probably wouldn’t have lasted until Tang Mo woke up and came to check on him.

But because Zhao Huan was a superpower user, his body had been enhanced and was very different from an ordinary person’s.

After bleeding for a while and passing out from blood loss, his body had actually started to heal on its own, stopping the bleeding.

But even so, he wouldn’t have survived without timely medical treatment.

Using her spiritual power, Tang Mo slowly made his wound shrink, and the color gradually returned to his deathly pale face.

Zhao Huan had always kept his body in shape, and his physical fitness was excellent. Amazingly, he quickly regained consciousness and opened his eyes.

The first person he saw upon opening his eyes was the expressionless Tang Mo.

”Thanks.”

Zhao Huan, of course, knew who had saved him.

”Don’t talk. It’s not healed yet.”

Tang Mo hadn’t expected the man to recover so quickly. She hadn’t even finished healing his wound, and he was already awake.

’Might as well see this through. Since I’ve started healing him, I should finish the job properly. Otherwise, in this apocalypse, with its lack of supplies and medicine, any lingering effects would be a huge pain to deal with.’

Zhao Huan obediently closed his mouth and felt the changes in his body.

He had always known this slender girl in his team was different, but he never imagined she was this miraculous. It was as if no problem was too difficult for her.

’Is this a superpower user?’ Zhao Huan felt that the girl before him was more like a savior.

Finally, feeling the foreign energy in his body stop fluctuating and recede, Zhao Huan spoke again.

”You got your parents out, too.”

”Mhm,” Tang Mo replied.

Zhao Huan wasn’t surprised. ’With skills like these, who couldn’t she rescue? Perhaps that food factory was nothing in her eyes.’

In this, Zhao Huan was not mistaken.

If Tang Mo hadn’t been afraid of the trouble and felt it was unnecessary, destroying the food factory would have been a piece of cake for her.

But what was the point of doing something like that?

’Save people?’

’Even if the fish on the chopping block escape from here, if they don’t learn to save themselves, they’ll just end up as fish on a different chopping block somewhere else.’

’And bad people will just go on to harm others elsewhere. Cause and effect are an endless cycle.’

’Saving these people only to harm those people—is that really a good thing?’

’Kill all the bad people?’

’But what makes someone a ”bad person”? Is anyone who has done something bad a bad person? If so, this world is far too full of them.’

’Even she herself had killed for treasure before.’

She only did what she wanted to do.

”Where did you send the child?”

Tang Mo was a little curious. Hadn’t Zhao Huan rescued the child? Why wasn’t he in the room?

”I sent him to my brother’s place last night.”

Zhao Huan had known the extent of his injuries last night. He had practically used his last breath to bring the child back.

Once inside the building, he used the last of his strength to pretend he was uninjured, delivered the child to Zhao Tian and Zhao Yu’s room, and told them to let him get a good sleep the next morning and not to disturb him.

Zhao Huan was aware of his condition. He had lost too much blood, and they had no medical equipment, let alone medicine.

With no way to stitch the wound, plus the risk of infection, he knew he wouldn’t make it through the night.
