A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 195: Chapter 195: Sincere or Feigned (4)

”Are you sure it’s okay for you not to go back? Won’t the Grant Family be in an uproar? This is supposed to be a time for family reunions! And you’re a direct descendant of the main Grant line. If the Grant patriarch doesn’t see you, he’ll probably go ballistic! By not going, aren’t you worried about your position in the family?”

After finishing yet another search and rescue mission, Seraphina Sterling was back at Grant Manor, staring at Terrence Grant in astonishment. She thought his antics over the past few days were bad enough, but she never imagined that on New Year’s Eve, the guy would still be this stubborn, refusing to go home and staying all by himself at Grant Manor!

’If she weren’t so kind-hearted, always feeling the need to come over and comfort him, he would probably be spending this New Year’s all alone in the cold!’

”Terrence Grant leaned back on the sofa. ’My position in the Grant Family is unshakable. It can’t be changed by missing a New Year’s Eve dinner or two! Even if I don’t go back, Mr. Grant of Aethelgard will always be the wild and arrogant Mr. Grant of Aethelgard! That’s a fact no one can change!’”

Terrence Grant grew even more arrogant, tilting his handsome neck up proudly. He looked just like a proud swan! The sight was infuriating to Seraphina Sterling, but for a fleeting moment, she was genuinely stunned by his handsome features. To hide her embarrassment, Seraphina quickly changed the subject.

”So you’re not going home for the New Year. What are you doing staying here all by yourself? This place is nice, I’ll admit, but no matter how nice it is, it can’t be as comfortable as the Grant estate, can it?”

Terrence Grant knew that even without Seraphina Sterling saying a word.

’New Year’s Eve in Tollan Town could never be as lively as at the Grant Family’s estate in Aethelgard. And when it came to the atmosphere, the setting, and the food... there was simply no comparison!’

’But he just didn’t want to leave. He didn’t want to go back. He didn’t want to go so many days without seeing Seraphina Sterling! This was their first New Year’s Eve since they met, and he wanted to spend it with her!’

’He had never felt this way before. Such romantic notions... even he, Terrence Grant, was a little shocked. He started to wonder if there was something wrong with him. To actually have these kinds of thoughts! To think he would one day do something most people would find incomprehensible, all because he wanted to spend a few more days with a girl, to be able to look at her a little longer.’

’But what was done, was done.’

Terrence Grant glanced over at Seraphina Sterling and saw her looking right back at him with her beautiful, wide eyes. His own handsome silhouette was reflected with perfect clarity in those sparkling pupils. At such close proximity, with the distant CRACKLE of New Year’s Eve firecrackers in the air, he couldn’t help but fall under the illusion that he existed in her heart just as he did in her eyes. And that he occupied a very important place there, too.

”Seraphina Sterling, Happy New Year. And congratulations on getting another year older!” As he spoke, Terrence Grant took out a small box. ”A New Year’s gift!”

’Once her birthday passes, she’ll be a legal adult. She’s still years away from being old enough to get a marriage license, but at least the girl I like won’t be a minor anymore. Then, even if I kiss her, I won’t have this feeling of guilt, like I’m corrupting a little kid!’

Watching Seraphina Sterling happily accept the gift, Terrence Grant suddenly felt like a father watching his daughter finally grow up. ’But I’m only seven or eight years older than her, aren’t I?’ he thought. ’Father and daughter... Isn’t that dynamic a bit of an exaggeration!’

Seraphina Sterling looked inside the gift box and saw a watch nestled quietly within. ’Simple and elegant, just my style!’ she thought. ’I have to admit, Terrence Grant has exceptional taste! Or at least, our tastes are very similar.’

Terrence Grant keenly sensed that Seraphina Sterling was very pleased with his gift, which made him even happier. This gift was quite suitable for a high school student like her! ”My gift?”
