A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Mr. Grant’s Appearance (Part 8)

king?

Ronan Winters grew more and more shocked. He had originally thought she was just a penniless student, but now it seemed things weren’t as simple as he had imagined!

’If she were really just a student, she couldn’t have proposed a deal with him, much less won the gun from his hand! Someone even king can’t hit... how could she be an ordinary person!’

”Bro, you two know each other?” Logan Grant was floored by this revelation. ’Judging by my brother’s tone, they’re clearly familiar with each other! But how in the world does Seraphina Sterling know my brother? Their statuses are worlds apart. This is incredible! I need to know! I need to know! What am I going to do?’

Terrence Grant shot his brother an exasperated look before turning to Ronan Winters. ”We have a score to settle. You not only hurt my brother, you kidnapped my student, and you even let her get injured. How do you propose we settle this?”

”Student? Seraphina Sterling is your student?” Ronan Winters was truly shocked this time. He couldn’t help but curse Miles Galloway in his head. ’That idiot wanted to teach someone a lesson without even investigating them first! And now I’ve captured the brother and the student of this Demon King of Chaos.’ Ronan had a very bad feeling about this.

”Is it so strange that I have a student?” Terrence Grant’s voice rose slightly, an indescribable emotion flashing in his deep eyes.

”Compensation for emotional distress is non-negotiable. As for the men who laid a hand on my brother, you’ll deal with them yourself. If the result is not to my satisfaction, I will make every single day of the next year exceedingly unpleasant for you. And one more thing, the compensation better match the Grant Family’s standards! Don’t let me think the esteemed Winters Family can’t even afford to pay for a little emotional distress.”

Ronan Winters’s mouth twitched violently. ’I’m the one who’s injured here, for crying out loud! Look at Logan Grant—he’s full of life. Does he look like he’s suffering from emotional distress? And Seraphina Sterling has been smiling calmly this entire time. Compared to her, I’m the one who needs compensation for emotional distress, okay!’

”Let’s consider our debt between us wiped clean. Also, I’ll take it that you agree to my proposal,” Seraphina Sterling said, raising an eyebrow slightly. ’The Grant Family’s power is truly extraordinary. He agreed before I even spelled out the details!’

”Excellent. It’s a deal,” Seraphina Sterling replied, still perfectly calm. ’As long as I achieve my objective, that’s all that matters. I don’t have the energy to care if I’m just riding Terrence Grant’s coattails.’

Terrence Grant’s expression darkened. ’There’s something going on between those two that I don’t know about?’ The realization soured his mood even more.

”As your new partner in this deal, I feel it’s my duty to give you a heads-up,” Seraphina continued. ”I’m taking the Galloway Family’s auction house. If you don’t want your losses to be too severe, you should withdraw your funds immediately. Don’t wait until the dust has settled to come looking for trouble with me.”

This time, even Ronan Winters’s expression froze. ’This girl’s appetite is enormous! She wants to swallow Miles Galloway’s auction house? Isn’t she afraid of getting indigestion? And what’s with that warning tone? Do I look like someone who likes to stir up trouble?’

The crisis was finally over, and Terrence Grant prepared to leave with the three of them. After the other three had boarded the speedboat, Terrence stopped. ”Seeing as our negotiations went so smoothly, I’ll give you a piece of information. You’d best have your people lay low lately. In fact, just have them all stay home and not go out. Temporarily close all your venues for ’renovations.’ That might lessen your losses.”

”What do you mean?” Ronan’s hastily treated wound was still bleeding. In The Underground, few people dared to touch him, and above ground, only a few families would dare to oppose the Winters Family—but none of them had a motive to make a move.

Terrence Grant’s lips curled into a satisfied smirk. He was enjoying this. ”The girl who fainted is named Genevieve Churchill, from the Churchill Family of Veridia. You’d better be careful. When that person gets ruthless, probably no one can stop him.”

Ronan was just numb at this point; the shocks from tonight had been too great. The only thing he wanted to do now was kill Miles Galloway. The man had offended the Grant Family of Aethelgard and the Churchill Family of Veridia, and then he’d dared to come to him for backup? He’d thoroughly pissed off two of the most inscrutable and powerful families!

’Did Miles Galloway think my money was coming too easily, so he decided to find some ’excitement’ for me?’

One could already imagine Miles Galloway’s fate. The end result for anyone targeted by Ronan Winters was never pretty.

The speedboat sped across the cold river, and Seraphina Sterling was busy taking care of Genevieve Churchill, who had just passed out. ’She’s been through so much tonight,’ Seraphina worried. ’I don’t know if she’ll be able to recover from this quickly.’

”Don’t worry, Genevieve’s injuries aren’t serious. At most, she’ll need an IV and some ointment. She’ll be fine soon,” Logan Grant explained softly, noticing Seraphina’s concerned expression.

”Physical wounds heal easily, but the wounds in her heart won’t recover so quickly.” That was what Seraphina was truly worried about. ’At her age, she’s in a high-risk period for autism and depression. From her reaction, it’s obvious the person she called is very important to her. People always think of the person who matters most to them when they’re in the most danger, at their most vulnerable. It’s just that the result she got wasn’t what she’d hoped for. I hope Genevieve can make it through this.’

Logan Grant frowned. He only knew a little about Genevieve Churchill’s circumstances. In the Churchill Family, only Julian Churchill looked after her. He was her greatest protector, you could say. With Julian backing her up, she could do whatever she wanted—at least, that’s how it was back in middle school. But they hadn’t seen each other in years, so he wasn’t clear on what might have happened in the Churchill Family since then.

’Still, for a tough girl like her to be this hurt, things probably aren’t that simple. There must be some hidden circumstances he didn’t know about.’

”Don’t think so much about it. You can’t interfere in the Churchill Family’s business,” Terrence Grant said, sweeping a glance over the two of them. He saw Seraphina chatting with his own brother, yet she hadn’t given him a single proper look since the moment he arrived. He felt that familiar irritation again, along with an impulse to pack his brother up and airdrop him back to Aethelgard.

Once they were ashore, Seraphina moved to help Genevieve to the hospital, but Terrence Grant stopped her with an arm.

”Hughes, take them to the hospital. If Julian Churchill arrives, hand her over to him.”

”Bro, what about you two?” Logan Grant, clearly oblivious to his older brother’s current state, recklessly pressed for an answer.

”Mind your own business! When you get back, you’re going to roll right back to the base, and you’re not allowed out until school starts!” In truth, Terrence wanted to tell him to stay there forever.

Logan Grant’s fate was sealed, spectacularly and tragically.

Hughes glanced at him and sighed inwardly. ’Third Young Master, you are truly awful at reading the room. Didn’t you see the fire starting in the Second Young Master’s eyes?’

”Hughes, until I’ve seen Genevieve, you are not to release her to anyone who comes, no exceptions!” Seraphina, even more fearless, directly defied Terrence Grant’s order to his face.

Hughes glanced at his own young master, and seeing that he raised no objection, he nodded in agreement.
