A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Successfully Acquiring the Galloway Family’s Auction Company (7)

Seraphina Sterling smiled faintly. ”Mr. Galloway, you’re a smart man. You know what choice is best for you. Wasn’t your decision to sell the company about recouping some capital to stage a comeback? I can guarantee that my offer is the most reasonable. And the highest. Don’t be so impulsive that you forget your main objective.”

”Save your breath! My decision is final! Everything you’ve done has been for my auction company, hasn’t it? Well, I’m going to make sure all your efforts are for nothing! I’ll see to it that you fail at the final hurdle!”

Seeing the angry yet helpless look on Seraphina Sterling’s face, Miles Galloway felt a surge of satisfaction. He had been waiting for this day for a very, very long time. ’Scheme against me, Miles Galloway, and still expect to get my company? As if I would ever let that happen!’

’Since I can’t benefit from this, I’ll be damned if I let you get what you want!’

”I hope you don’t regret this,” Seraphina Sterling said before turning to leave. As soon as she was out of the Galloway Family’s auction house building, she immediately dialed a number. ”Joel Xavier, you can make your move. The time is right!”

In reality, Seraphina Sterling had long predicted that Miles Galloway would not sell the auction company to her. That was why she had already tasked Joel Xavier with finding someone skilled in managing and operating auction houses to negotiate with him.

No sooner had Miles Galloway decisively rejected Seraphina Sterling than a rumor began to circulate in the business world. It claimed that the powerful Galloway Family had collapsed so quickly because they had offended the Grant Family of Aethelgard. The story went that the Grant Family had its eye on the Galloways’ auction company and wanted to acquire it, which was why the Galloway Family had crumbled with such irresistible force in less than a month.

Once this rumor spread, the companies that had been very interested in the Galloway Family’s auction company all backed away. What a joke! Who would dare to oppose the Grant Family of Aethelgard? That would be a death wish! The Grant Group was immensely powerful; how could their small companies ever hope to compete? With everyone thinking along these lines, the competition dwindled, and so did the potential price.

The moment Miles Galloway heard about this, his previous feeling of spiteful satisfaction vanished without a trace. He was certain Seraphina Sterling had spread the rumor to get revenge on him for refusing to sell her the company. Miles Galloway was once again so furious he was grinding his teeth.

This time, however, Miles Galloway was wrong about Seraphina Sterling. She hadn’t been the one to release the rumor; in fact, she was quite surprised when she heard the news herself. She realized someone was helping her, trying to ensure she could smoothly acquire the Galloway Family’s auction company.

Upon seeing the news, Seraphina Sterling immediately contacted Joel Xavier, telling him to have their arranged buyer cut the offered price by half. ’So it’s a game of schemes, is it? Two can play at that game.’

Miles Galloway, who had also heard the news, was pacing anxiously around his office. He was worried the rumor would cause all potential buyers to back out of their acquisition plans, and that the auction company would go bankrupt on his watch. Just then, the person arranged by Joel Xavier arrived, making Miles Galloway sigh with relief. ’Heaven hasn’t forsaken me!’

However, when he heard the other party cut the price by a straight fifty percent, his world came crashing down. The offered price was even lower than the initial offers before any real competition had started! Miles Galloway truly felt the urge to bang his head against a wall.

”Mr. Adler, isn’t this price a little outrageous? Your offer is the lowest of any I’ve received! You’re clearly not serious about this purchase!”

”Mr. Galloway, let’s be frank with each other. I admit the price I’m offering isn’t high, but it’s not low, either. This is the true estimated value of your auction company. If you feel the price is inappropriate, then we have nothing more to discuss. This is the absolute highest I can go. My own auction company is just starting out, and my working capital is limited.”
