A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Mr. Grant Appears (4)

Ronan Winters looked at Seraphina Sterling’s faint smile. It wasn’t a strained, forced expression, but a genuine, subtle smile that came from within. ’She’s truly not afraid of me.’ It had been a long time since he’d met a woman who wasn’t. ’No, she’s not even a woman yet, just a little girl.’

”Blade, go and receive your punishment!”

”Yes, Young Master!” The man, who had been indignant just moments before, left without question upon hearing Ronan Winters’ command.

Miles Galloway was astonished, but he didn’t dare say a single word.

In The Underground, the Young Master’s word was absolute! It was not to be questioned!

Seraphina Sterling grew even more worried. ’It’s obvious this man holds immense authority over his people. They trust him unconditionally!’

”You can go!” Ronan Winters said to Genevieve Churchill.

”What about Seraphina? Can she leave with me?” Having regained her freedom, Genevieve Churchill walked over to Seraphina Sterling’s side.

”Miss Sterling, of course, cannot! She absolutely cannot leave until she compensates me for my losses!” Ronan Winters flatly refused.

”Fine. However much you lost, I’ll pay you!” Genevieve Churchill said, stepping in front of Seraphina Sterling.

”You’ll pay?” Ronan Winters’ clear, smooth voice rose slightly. ”Fifty million! If you can come up with fifty million right now, you can all leave unharmed!”

”I need to make a phone call!” Genevieve Churchill said without a second thought. ’The safety of the three of them was worth far more than fifty million!’

At a glance from Ronan Winters, one of his men immediately brought over a cell phone.

Genevieve Churchill dialed the number she knew by heart, although she wasn’t sure if he would answer. After all, she had stormed out in a fit of pique. RING... RING... RING...

”Hello? Who is this? Julian is in the shower right now; it’s not a good time for him to talk. You can just tell me what it’s about!”

”Put Julian Churchill on the phone! Tell him his sister has been kidnapped!” Genevieve Churchill roared.

After a long pause, a voice finally came from the other end of the line.

”Hello.”

Just that one word was enough to bring tears to the strong-willed Genevieve Churchill’s eyes, and her voice was thick with untold grievances. ”I’ve been kidnapped! They want fifty million! You have to bring it over right now!”

”Genevieve Churchill! You’re not a child anymore, so stop playing these childish games! You might not be sick of it, but I’m fed up! I’m not coming! You’re a grown woman now, you should think before you act! It’s your life, do whatever you want with it. No one is going to clean up your messes for you!”

He hung up decisively, not even giving Genevieve Churchill a chance to explain.

Genevieve Churchill stared blankly at the phone, scarcely believing he had hung up on her. The call she had pinned all her hopes on was, in his eyes, nothing more than a prank! Just a game!

”Seraphina, I’m sorry. I guess I’ve cried wolf too many times.” Genevieve Churchill managed a smile that looked more painful than tears. No one could know the depths of her despair at that moment. ’The man I’ve loved my entire life... he’s with another woman while I’m in danger! He doesn’t believe me when I need him most!’

”It’s okay.” Seraphina Sterling hadn’t wanted Genevieve Churchill to come up with the money anyway, since she felt her friend had only been captured because of her. ”You and Genevieve go first,” Seraphina Sterling said to Logan Grant. ’In a situation like this, the priority has to be ensuring Genevieve’s safety!’

Logan Grant looked at Seraphina Sterling, his expression complex. ’Isn’t she afraid?’ After witnessing the inhumane treatment of the men outside, he couldn’t believe she could remain so calm, telling the two of them to leave first while she faced the endless danger alone. In that moment, he felt a profound sense of admiration for Seraphina Sterling.
