A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Successfully Acquiring the Galloway Family’s Auction Company (6)

As they were finishing their meal, Terrence Grant put down his chopsticks and started in, ”Ronan Winters might seem gentle, calm, and approachable on the surface, with that grin always plastered on his face, but he’s rotten to the core. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to hold onto his position as the Young Master of the Underground. He didn’t become the Young Master of the Underground just because his last name is Winters—it’s because he’s decisive and utterly ruthless! You have to be on your guard when you work with him. Don’t be a fool and believe everything he says. You don’t want to end up getting scammed and then helping him count his money!”

A warmth spread through Seraphina Sterling’s heart. All this time, she had always been charging forward on her own. For someone to suddenly care for her so much, to worry about her like this, stirred waves within her. The feeling was like someone tossing a pebble into a mirror-still lake, sending ripples spreading out, one after another.

”Don’t worry. Ronan Winters might be cunning, but I’m not stupid. It won’t be easy for him to take advantage of me!”

”You want the Galloway Family’s auction company?” Terrence Grant changed the subject.

Seraphina Sterling nodded but didn’t elaborate.

”Why not ask for my help? For something this trivial, there’s no need to go through all this trouble!” Terrence Grant’s heart ached seeing her work so hard. Her already slender frame had lost another four or five pounds from exhaustion these past few days, making her look malnourished.

”This is my own business. Why should I trouble you for help? It’s not like I can’t handle it myself!” Seraphina Sterling looked at him in bewilderment, completely baffled by his question. ’Shouldn’t it be perfectly normal for me *not* to ask him for help?’

’Her own business?’ Terrence Grant was annoyed that she drew such a clear line between their affairs. However, hearing her words still brought him a small measure of comfort. ”Well, if you run into anything you can’t solve, you must let me know. I’m your future husband, after all! I’m giving you permission to exercise your rights ahead of schedule!”

Seraphina Sterling: ”...”

Despite the twists and turns in their conversation, the two still very happily finished their first lunch alone together.

Things with the Galloway Family developed at a startling pace. Seven days after the meeting at the Stelluna Hotel, the Galloway Family’s auction company could finally hold on no longer. The only options left were to either sell the company or wait until it was completely inoperable and declare bankruptcy.

Although Miles Galloway was furious, he wasn’t a fool. He knew that in such a dire situation, if he stubbornly held on, he would ultimately lose everything—both his money and his company. So, the moment he realized the auction company couldn’t be sustained, he put the word out that he was selling.

As soon as the news broke, many businesspeople were eager for a chance to bid. The Galloway Family’s auction company was, after all, one of the top-ranked in the nation. As the saying goes, a starved camel is still bigger than a horse. Many had their eyes on this prize, ready to snap it up. Miles Galloway was banking on the competition driving up the price, hoping to secure the greatest possible profit for himself.

Seraphina Sterling had originally planned to acquire the Galloway Family’s auction company at an opportune moment, but she never expected Miles Galloway to pull a stunt like this. More competition meant a significant increase to her budget. Watching the price climb relentlessly, Seraphina Sterling resentfully cursed, ’That old fox!’

Just as Seraphina Sterling braced herself, pulling a large amount of capital from the stock market in preparation to acquire the auction company, Miles Galloway explicitly rejected her.

”Seraphina Sterling, even though I can’t save my company, even though the business I fought to build is doomed to fail, there is still one thing I get to decide! And that’s who the buyer will be—who I hand my company over to! I told you, I will never let your scheme succeed! Even if you offer more money than anyone, I will absolutely never sell my company to you! So you can just give up on that dream!”
