A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 100 The Singer, Oh, Singer 33There were two people sitting in the stairwell that Lin Xiangjun did not expect.

One was Black-skinned Sugarcane, who had said Lin Xiangjun looked like a Weasel when they first entered the instance.

The other was the silent Translucent who followed behind Tiger Wang.

The reason he was called Translucent instead of Invisible was that he didn’t completely lack presence; at the very least, Lin Xiangjun felt a special loathing every time she saw him.

Every time she saw him, she felt inexplicably uncomfortable, as if ants were crawling all over her body, and while crawling, they were plucking out her body hair.

She felt completely uneasy, yet she couldn’t explain why she found him so disagreeable.

Lin Xiangjun attributed this to her keen sixth sense after her improvement.

Although she had now turned into a ghost state, she was not invisible to others.

However, she was mentally prepared for the current situation; after all, she had never expected the journey to be unimpeded.

Fortunately, she could still use items even after becoming a ghost.

Lin Xiangjun took out the Invisibility Cloak, thought for a moment, and then pulled out a small wiretap.

This was just an ordinary item, not a tool.

There are many types of wiretaps, such as wireless wiretaps, vibration-sensing wiretaps, laser wiretaps, disguised wiretaps, etc.

The wiretap in Lin Xiangjun’s hand was a wireless one. She had two versions of this type of wiretap: one was a storage-type wiretap with an internal memory card, and the other was an external-broadcast type that required a receiver.

The storage-type wiretap was actually similar to a voice recorder, just smaller, only about the size of a button battery.

Lin Xiangjun floated past them and casually attached the wiretap to the wall next to them.

Just then, Li Dongwei sighed.

”Jie Yu, why do you think Zhang Qi died last night?”

Who died? Zhang Qi?

That Sycophant?

Although Lin Xiangjun had complained about him many times in private, thinking he looked like a minor character in a TV show who wouldn’t last three episodes, she found it hard to believe he had actually died so quickly.

That man Zhang Qi loved to play petty tricks and hoped to hug a thigh to win easily. Although she had only seen him twice, Lin Xiangjun could already describe his general personality.

But besides that, he had another trait: he was cowardly and afraid of death.

When he and Tiger Wang were barking at Lin Xiangjun, Lin Xiangjun had seen it clearly: he always stood half a step behind Tiger Wang. Even when he was agitated and pointing fingers at Lin Xiangjun, his shoulders never extended beyond Tiger Wang’s.

When arguing, he would hide under people’s feet like a pug.

To put it bluntly, why hug a thigh?

Isn’t it just so that when trouble arises, the big brother rushes forward, while the lackey cheers and waves flags for him?

Even if there were danger, Zhang Qi would definitely be hiding behind Tiger Wang. If anyone were to get into trouble, it shouldn’t be him.

Anyone could be the first to die, but not him. Lin Xiangjun frowned and noted this suspicious point.

”I didn’t expect this either. He was clearly alive and well just a moment ago, who knew he would be torn to pieces in the blink of an eye...”

Black-skinned Sugarcane’s face was pale. Thinking of the scene last night, he couldn’t help but retch from disgust, drinking two sips of water to suppress his nausea.

”And the most terrifying thing is that we still haven’t found the death rules up to now.” Li Dongwei sighed with a heavy expression.

”Two people have already died, yet we still haven’t figured out what the rules that kill people are...”

Lin Xiangjun moved quickly, arriving at the seventh floor with seven minutes of ghost state remaining.

706.

Tiger Wang and the others must have rented this place. There was no one in the house now, but the air carried a faint smell of cigarette smoke and foot odor.

The doors to both rooms were closed.

One room was relatively tidy, with two quilts on the bed and a bedding set on the floor. It was clearly Zhang Zhendong and his two team members; because the bed couldn’t accommodate everyone, one person was arranged to sleep on the floor.

The other room was a tragic sight.

The window had a large hole broken in it, and the floor was covered in glass shards.

It looked like there had been a struggle in the room. Apart from the bed, all the few pieces of furniture in the room had been overturned. Some scattered items like desk lamps and pen holders were either toppled over or shattered on the floor.

There were at least two people sleeping in this room.

Needless to say, the big brother Tiger Wang must have slept on the bed, while the Sycophant and Translucent slept on the floor.

He’s the big brother, so it’s normal to have some privileges. Without privileges, who would be a big brother? Eating no better than others, sleeping no more comfortably than others, and having to stand in front when encountering danger—is that a big brother or a big donkey?

The traces on the floor were very scattered. One could only see blood foam and blood spots, as well as a large pool of blood mixed with a bit of minced meat and half a tooth.

Looking closely, there were also some undigested stomach contents.

...What kind of death is this?

Did someone reach into the stomach and pull it out through the mouth?

Imagining the scene, Lin Xiangjun shivered. She took a picture with her phone to preserve evidence, then pinched her nose and left.

The only one not rented out was 1206.

Lin Xiangjun didn’t waste much effort in finding the new rule slip on the TV cabinet.

【3. The Songstress will not sing on rainy nights. If you hear the Songstress’s singing on a rainy night, please immediately find a safe place, close your eyes, and plug your ears. The Songstress will not harm you if you are truly innocent.】

【5. The Songstress likes to walk alone; do not follow behind the Songstress.】

Rule 3 was obviously wrong, and completely wrong at that.

The rain in Xieyou Alley never stopped. Last night was a rainy night, and the Songstress sang like a villain in a Disney movie while hacking people to death. This couldn’t be a delusion from her dreams, could it?

Moreover, the correct way to act was not to close one’s eyes and plug one’s ears, but to stand straight and solemn.

Lin Xiangjun hadn’t done that yesterday, and when she woke up this morning, other than feeling sleepy from lack of sleep, there were no signs of being corrupted.

Rule 3 was wrong from beginning to end.

Rule 5... might be correct.

After all, she was cornered and raped to death on a rainy night. If a stranger were to tail and follow her, it would inevitably trigger bad memories, leading her to go on a killing spree.

She put away the new rule slip.

If there were only fifteen rules in total, she was now only missing Rule 10 and Rule 11 to collect them all.

And among the rules collected, only Rule 7 was of unknown accuracy.

【7. The Songstress likes people who love to play. The daytime is boring; the city at night is more interesting. Explore the unknown to your heart’s content.】

Explore the unknown...

Explore the unknown where? Places outside of Xieyou Alley?

This conjecture was truly too bold.

Expanding the map didn’t just simply increase danger and opportunity; it meant an exponential rise in the difficulty of the instance—it was because the system determined that this instance required such a large map to reach its conclusion.

”I hope it’s not that difficult.” Lin Xiangjun sighed.
