A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 68 The Singer, Oh, the Singer 1【 instance Name: Songstress, Ah, Songstress 】

【 instance Difficulty: ★★★ 】

【 instance Participants: 10 】

【 Time Limit: 7 Days 】

【 Clearance Conditions: Among you, there is one person who does not like the Songstress’s singing voice, and the Songstress is very dissatisfied. Only when everyone likes the Songstress’s performance and everyone has heard the Songstress’s performance will the Songstress allow you to leave. 】

Upon seeing the number of participants in the instance, Lin Xiangjun immediately took a mask out of her pouch to cover her face.

Props were still too extravagant. Although it wasn’t a burden for her current balance, force-feeding potions to others was a hassle; it was more cost-effective to just cover her face.

Besides, this mask was something she had dug out from her own prop card.

【 Wangzai Milk Special Edition Mask: A red medical protective mask that can block particulate matter, pathogens, droplets, and blood in the air. It is suitable for medical work environments with high exposure risks and comes with a self-cleaning function. It’s a great piece of merchandise, but wearing it on your mouth makes it look like you’re wearing a pair of red underpants. Once you put it on, you will become the image of the ”Wangzai Big-Headed Son” in everyone’s memories, worthy of being a wild promotional ambassador for Wangzai. 】

It was a good item, a b-grade prop, but the effect of wearing it...

Lin Xiangjun silently pulled the mask up a bit.

Being mistaken for the Big-Headed Son was a minor issue; the main thing was that the material of this mask was very strange. It was particularly light, thin, and loose, and the color was exceptionally red. Once put on...

Tsk, it looked like putting a pair of red underpants for one’s zodiac year over one’s head.

Especially lewd.

Lin Xiangjun had burned a lot of clothes for herself, but after trying them all on, she found that sportswear was the most suitable for entering an instance. It looked good, was convenient to wear, and came in all colors of the rainbow.

Today, she was wearing a grass-green tracksuit, white sneakers, and the jacket was unzipped to reveal a white short-sleeved sports shirt underneath. Her hair was tied up with a green scrunchie, and her pouch was blue-green. She also paired it with a secure belt to fix the pouch to her waist so it wouldn’t fall off, which was also easier to access than hanging it around her neck.

It was originally a very clean, fresh, and sharp outfit, but adding this red mask...

All she could say was: ”Red and green, a terrible scene.”

Fortunately, Lin Xiangjun was very good at self-adjustment. What if the clothes she wore were ugly? She couldn’t see them if she didn’t look down, and she wouldn’t disgust herself. Whoever was in the same instance as her was just unlucky.

She looked around and found herself at the entrance of a narrow alley.

Both sides of the alley were residential buildings. The buildings were a black-gray color rarely seen in real life, and the ground was also black cement with intricate black wires crisscrossing overhead. The whole alley looked old, dilapidated, and filthy.

There were a few pedestrians in the alley, but without exception, they were all wearing long, black-gray coats. Some were holding long-handled black umbrellas, heads bowed, walking in a hurry as if rushing to do something.

The players were all standing at the entrance of the alley, ten people in total: seven men and three women.

Before Lin Xiangjun could clearly see the faces of the others, the other two women had already cautiously moved to the side, moving next to Lin Xiangjun to separate themselves from the men.

Lin Xiangjun: ?

What happened here?

Lin Xiangjun glanced at the two women. One was around thirty-five with bleached brownish-red hair, and the other was twenty-three or twenty-four, looking like a fresh university graduate, wearing ordinary a hoodie and sweatpants.

She had been busy exercising and practicing blade techniques for the past month, so she hadn’t spent much time surfing the internet. Seeing the actions of these two women, it took her some effort to remember what had happened.

The cause of the matter was that after the rules of the weird world descended, the officials were initially flustered and didn’t know how to handle it. The order was very chaotic during the first week.

Fortunately, after a week, someone official drew a prop that could maintain the network system, and they gradually acquired some props that could assist in post-disaster reconstruction work, which barely stabilized order.

Seven days ago, the government conducted a census. This census was very fast because of the help of props, taking only two hours in total.

The current population of China is 896,347,562, of which 357,869,548 are female and 538,478,014 are male. Most are in the 16-50 age range, with children and the elderly with limited mobility suffering the heaviest casualties.

The weird world didn’t even have exemptions; young children just followed their families into the instance!

The official intention was just to warn players about the cruelty of the instances, but there were those ”big smarts” with water in their brains who started to widely propagate gender differences.

”Look at those feminists on the internet. They always talk about gender equality, gender equality. As a result, once the weird world descended, without our protection as men, how many have died now? What about those who usually preach feminism? Not talking anymore, right? Still not admitting that women are naturally weak, just dragging us down and needing protection?”

Once this statement came out, the communication area exploded.

”I’ll slap you straight into the sky, you old geezer! Dammit, do you men have no shame? Do you know that children under ten are defaulted to be transported to their mother’s side? Who can control a child eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, crying, and making a fuss? It’s bad enough you don’t understand the hardships of women, but you also make snide remarks. What’s wrong, did your d*ck grow on your head?!”

”Women are a burden?? I spit on that. It’s clearly you men who are shameless. F*ck, I was staying perfectly fine in the instance, and some guy inexplicably said he wanted to protect me. Who needed his protection? I originally thought that since we were all players, it would be fine to clear the instance together, but in the end, the weirdness went berserk, and he pushed me out! If I hadn’t been lucky enough to find a prop, I would have f*cking died in the instance long ago!”

”Heh, you say men clear more instances, is it by selling us out? Dammit, me too. A guy inexplicably wanted to be the leader, and inexplicably said a little girl in the instance was the weakest and least likely to clear it, insisting she go attract fire to let others survive! It sounds nice, saying it’s for everyone’s survival, but I just ’heh’ at your mother. Making someone else cannon fodder and still acting all high and mighty, shameless!”

”...”

This weird world is indeed unreasonable; children under ten are automatically placed next to their mothers.

Many children under two cannot control their crying at all, easily violating the rules. Mothers find it hard to abandon their children, so it’s very easy for the child to violate the rules, leading to both mother and child dying together.

Not to mention pregnant women, and not to mention physical discomfort during menstrual periods.

Those who bring children into an instance basically have a less than one percent survival rate. It’s already not easy to survive, and then to be sneered at—of course everyone is angry.

Also, there are indeed many non-human species that like to be leaders. I don’t know if it’s because like attracts like or some other reason, but they inexplicably like to act high and mighty, ostracizing little girls who haven’t done anything, as if it’s the default that they are weaker and less likely to clear the instance.

Many instances require team collaboration to find clues. In this situation of being ostracized, it’s impossible for them to clear the instance.

The attrition rate is higher.
