A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 6 Who Am I 5But things had already come to this, and there was no use in being picky. Lin Xiangjun sighed and first took out the three SS-rank cards separately.

“The Fallen Princess’s Sharp Blade (Unbound): She attempted to pierce the enemy’s chest with this sharp blade when her kingdom fell, paying for it with her life. A sharp blade imbued with a princess’s will is indestructible; go ahead and wield it, its sharpness will surprise you.”

“Spirit Eyes of the Divine Woman (Unbound): In that era that belonged to them, these eyes could see through all abnormal disguises. Falsehood is falsehood; it can only be layered over the truth. Use them, and you will receive the inheritance of the Spirit Medium. Usage restriction: Physiologically defined female.”

“constitution enhancement booklet (Disposable): The greater your endurance, the greater your power. Endure this small amount of pain, and your physical fitness will be raised to the limit of what you can withstand. Usage restriction: Disposable item. The transformation begins after the user swallows the red pill and is terminated by swallowing the white pill. Please note, the transformation limit for this product is two hours; do not exceed the time limit.”

The constitution enhancement booklet was what she needed most right now, but this thing had a two-hour effective period. Currently in the instance, this two-hour period of weakness would be enough for her to die eight hundred times. It was better to put it away and wait until she left the instance to use it.

The remaining two had no restrictions, so she bound them swiftly.

After the sharp blade was bound, a white line in the middle of the prop card flashed suddenly, and a dagger with a slightly curved front embedded with gems pressed against the card.

It truly lived up to being a princess’s sharp blade; it exuded luxury from head to toe. The body of the blade was barely over thirty centimeters long. The scabbard and hilt were both made of pure silver, with intricate three-dimensional carvings. Up close, one could even see raindrops dripping from a pavilion only the size of a fingernail. In addition to the breathtaking carvings, it was encrusted with countless pearls and gems of all sizes. At a glance, its ornamental value far exceeded its practicality; it should be displayed on the top shelf of a curio cabinet under a spotlight, not used for combat.

Lin Xiangjun tested it out; overall, it felt quite handy. She wasn’t sure how it would perform in actual combat.

The other prop was somewhat different.

【Spirit Eyes of the Divine Woman (Bound) Unlock Progress: 0/3】

Unlock progress?

The prop card didn’t come with a separate instruction manual, and the eerie world didn’t have a system or customer service. Looking at this unlock progress, she had no clue at all, so she had to set it aside for the time being.

The items that appeared in the Tribute Cards were just ordinary daily necessities. Lin Xiangjun glanced through them and wasn’t very interested.

She first put the remaining unexamined Tribute Cards and prop cards into the pouch.

【mandarin ducks playing in water pouch (Bound): Flowers given to a beloved are hidden in the pouch and will never wither. The pouch, embroidered for over a month, is also perfect. As for where this pouch, carrying a heart full of love, will be tossed, that is hidden at the end of the story. This item has the properties of being non-losable and having time stasis. Usage restriction: Cannot be taken out of the instance.】

This was the introduction on the left side of the Tribute Card.

The mandarin ducks playing in water pouch was an s-rank prop. On the cyan satin surface were two brightly colored mandarin ducks snuggling close to each other. Pink lotuses were in full bloom, and lotus leaves curled with water droplets; the scene was vivid and sweet.

“What a good item, just thrown away like that.” Lin Xiangjun clicked her tongue and put everything except the sharp blade into the pouch.

In addition to the drawstrings, there were two particularly long straps on both sides of the pouch. The original design was likely to make it easy to hang from the waist. Lin Xiangjun didn’t have a belt, so she tied the straps in a knot and hung it around her neck like an ID badge, then tucked it inside her clothes.

Seeing that the other three had finished cheering each other on and were showing signs of walking this way, Lin Xiangjun sighed and stepped into this ominous-looking building ahead of them.

...

Before she even reached the entrance, the old red-painted door creaked open on its own, revealing the empty, pitch-black stairwell behind it, looking just like the open maw of some monster.

When she took a step forward and got close to the doorway, she could feel the cold, musty wind blowing out from the stairwell.

Lin Xiangjun slowly walked inside.

The old residential area had no elevators, only stairs, which were very narrow and cold. Stepping inside, one could feel the temperature drop several degrees, and goosebumps rose on the back of her neck.

Just as Lin Xiangjun stepped one foot in, a sizzling sound suddenly rang out overhead.

She suddenly looked up, only to see a dim light flickering on above her. It sizzled several times as if there was a bad connection before staying on. However, the light was truly dim; even when lit, one could only barely see the outline of the stairs.

She didn’t rush to go up immediately, but first checked the surroundings.

This was a new place; there should be clues.

Sure enough, a set of [Stairwell Rules] was posted behind the door.

Old residential areas all have this problem: even though the floor height isn’t high and the width isn’t enough, the door frames are made as large as possible, causing the door to press tightly against the wall when opened.

Therefore, the rules posted behind the door panel were easily overlooked.

The door panel was an old vermilion security door. The paper with the rules written on it was likely intentionally made a very similar shade of red. Unlike typical notices posted at eye level to ensure everyone notices them, these rules were specifically posted in the bottom right corner of the door panel, with the bottom already touching the door frame. Even a thin sheet of paper carried a sense of ill intent.

The handwriting on it was as faint as if the printer had run out of ink; clearly, the person who wrote these rules didn’t want them to be seen clearly. Consequently, there were many tears on the paper, and from a distance, it looked no different from the stains on the door panel.

Coupled with the dim and blurry lighting, these rules would be easily ignored if one wasn’t careful.

Fortunately, the paper with the rules was fixed with tape. In a dark place, it gave off a distinct reflection when hit by a flashlight, and it was precisely this bit of reflection that allowed Lin Xiangjun to discover it.

Scheming, but not much.

With a high-power flashlight shining on it, let alone the hidden rule paper, the entire stairwell was instantly lit up as if it were day.

The rules were illuminated clearly.
