After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

”Oh my god...”

It was the first time Minerva Whitman had ever seen such a spectacle.

While the net of fire hadn’t dealt a fatal blow to the Fire Element Zombie, it had killed many of the other zombies around it in a single move.

”Thank you so, so much.”

Raphael Chase said, filled with gratitude.

But the woman was clearly focused. Just as the Fire Element Zombie tried to turn and flee, a Fire Serpent slithering rapidly across the ground coiled around its leg.

Then, it brutally dragged the zombie into a sea of flames!

ROAR...

The zombie’s roars grew fainter and fainter.

The Fire Element Zombie was burned away, leaving behind only a single red Crystal Core.

[Detected that Host’s action will save 379 humans in the coming days. ”Selfless Savior” title triggered. Reward: 379 bottles of ”Healing Potion”.]

”This Crystal Core...”

’Why is it so big?’

Sierra Lewis, standing to the side, had never seen such a large Mutated Crystal Core.

”It was an Intermediate Zombie, so this is an Intermediate Mutated Crystal Core.”

Nina Jacobs replied.

”Intermediate?”

It seemed to be the first time any of them had heard the term.

”Does that mean you’re an Intermediate Superpower User, too?”

Raphael Chase asked.

’Shouldn’t it take an Intermediate Superpower User to defeat an Intermediate Zombie?’

”Yes.”

Seeing that there were still hundreds of zombies nearby, Nina Jacobs casually continued killing them.

They had completely blocked the road. Even if she just wanted to pass through, she’d have to clear them out quickly.

”How many people do you have with you?”

Nina asked.

”Including us, there should be over a hundred.

There are about forty more people inside, but they’re all injured.

That’s why we were trying to break out and find them medical help.”

Raphael Chase answered.

It turned out they were students from this vocational college. After the apocalypse began, they never received a rescue team, so they’d been hiding in the school ever since, knowing very little about the outside world.

”We were originally planning to go to Lornwood Base, but we turned back halfway...”

On the way, they had met more than one group of people coming from Lornwood Base.

After hearing what those people had to say, they quietly turned back.

The reason was that there were three Water Element Superpower Users among them.

Those people all said that Water Element Superpower Users would be captured as soon as they reached the base.

”You were wise.”

Nina Jacobs controlled her two Fire Serpents, continuing to kill the remaining zombies.

Looks of delighted surprise gradually appeared on everyone’s faces.

They realized that the two Fire Serpents had immense destructive power.

In other words, she alone was a match for their entire group.

A little over ten minutes later, the zombies on the road were finally wiped out completely.

Minerva Whitman jumped down from the roof of the car and asked, ”Did you escape from Lornwood Base, too?”

Nina Jacobs shook her head. ”I’ve never been to Lornwood Base.”

”Then do you know where we can find medicine? Or even a doctor?

If we can’t find any medicine, they might all die.”

Minerva Whitman asked anxiously.

”You have that many injured people?”

Nina found it strange.

”They seem to be poisoned. They broke into our school the night before last. I’m a Healer, but I have no idea how to cure poison.”

Minerva Whitman answered, ashamed.

She could treat ordinary wounds, but these people were poisoned. Her healing technique could only alleviate the symptoms.

Most importantly, there were just too many poisoned people.

”Yeah, and when they thought they were about to die, they gave us all the supplies from their Space Superpower User’s space.

We felt so terrible about it that we decided to charge out and find medicine for them.”

As students who had yet to be beaten down by the harsh realities of the world, their passion was easily ignited.

They couldn’t bear to just stand by and watch so many people die in front of them, so they mounted an attack on their own.

”We were too naive. If it weren’t for you today, we would have been dead for sure.”

Sierra Lewis said.

Looking at the group before her, their eyes filled with gratitude, Nina Jacobs couldn’t help but smile.

”You’ve misunderstood. I just wanted that Intermediate Crystal Core, and I needed to pass through here.”

”But you’re amazing, like a superheroine!”

Raphael Chase, with his baby face, had stars in his eyes.

Nina Jacobs checked the time and finally decided.

”Take me to see the people you mentioned. The antidote I have might be able to help them.”

’There’s still time,’ she thought. ’And maybe I can bring this group back to the base.’

”Tomorrow Base? We’ve never heard of it.”

The group spoke as they walked along a narrow underground tunnel.

This was their secret tunnel. It was free of zombies and led directly to where they were currently staying.

It was precisely because of this tunnel that they had dared to charge out of the school.

”It’s a new base. If you’re willing to go, I can take you there.”

Nina Jacobs casually pulled out a flyer.

”Are you from that base, too? Then we have to go!”

Raphael Chase said after looking at it.

AHEM.

Draven Coleman cut Raphael Chase off with a cough. He didn’t seem to approve of Raphael making such a rash decision.

After all, they knew nothing about this new base.

Nina didn’t press the issue. At the moment, she was more curious about the poisoned people.

The person she met near the train had mentioned a group of poisoned veterans.

So when the girl named Minerva Whitman mentioned that people were poisoned, she began to wonder if this was the same group.

They walked through the tunnel for about ten minutes, encountering a few recently injured people who were resting along the way.

Their injuries weren’t serious; they had just hidden here because they were bleeding.

After reaching an open, abandoned elevator, Nina followed the group up a dim staircase to the right.

On the second floor, the curtains and windows were shut tight. Only the light filtering through the cracks in the curtains allowed them to see what was in front of them.

”You’re back...”

A voice, faint as a gossamer thread, spoke up. Only then did Nina notice several people lying stiffly on mats not far away.

”Looks like you’re all mostly okay. You guys are pretty impressive.

But who is she?”

A man with a gray pallor, leaning against the wall, was staring at Nina Jacobs, who had been the last to enter.

His Spiritual Element Superpower was actually unable to perceive her.

This brought a hint of vigilance to his eyes.

”This is Miss Jacobs. She saved us. An Intermediate Fire Element Zombie just appeared...”

Raphael Chase walked over and explained.

Once he understood the whole story, Hartley finally relaxed a little.

’It seems she isn’t one of the people hunting us,’ he thought.

Logically, they should have been shocked, especially since they had encountered that Intermediate Fire Element Zombie before.

But seeing the students return safely, all the strength seemed to drain out of them.

The poison felt as if it had seeped into their very organs. Right now, only Hartley and Valerius Lucas were still able to think clearly.

”Captain Lucas and his men are from the Drakonia military.

It seems they were poisoned because they uncovered a secret about Lornwood Base.

This poison doesn’t kill you immediately. Minerva treated them for two whole days, but she could only provide a moment’s relief...

Superheroine, do you really have an antidote?”

Raphael Chase asked, clinging to a final sliver of hope.

’Even if it only saves one person, that would be enough,’ he thought.

Nina said nothing, simply opening her backpack and taking out a row of glass test tubes.

”Give this to them first. I’m not sure if it will be a complete cure.”

After Nina spoke, the others quickly helped the people on the floor sit up.

”This is medicine?” Valerius Lucas asked.

”I found it in a medical lab. Maybe it’ll work.”

Nina Jacobs said, making it up on the spot.
