After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

”H-h-he...”

Damian pointed at Felix Finch, at a loss for words.

”Isn’t it good to have an extra hand? You guys go hold off his two deputies. Leave these people to us,” Nina Jacobs said.

”Miss Zephyra is right. That Felix Finch is no joke.”

Corisande took out her Metal Whip and lashed it fiercely toward the two deputies who were trying to follow Achilles Renner!

Tristan Lynch and his two men charged in as well.

”Be careful!”

Cordelia prudently retreated to the car, where Freya Finch and Mr. Ainsworth were waiting. Her mission was to ensure they weren’t harmed.

BANG!

The bald man conjured rows of serrated thorns.

The others all launched their attacks as well.

”Here they come!”

Seeing the enemy finally make their move, the Stone Spikes that had been stirring restlessly behind Nina Jacobs shot out in unison, like arrows loosed from a bow!

The enemy’s Gold and Earth Element Superpower Users were already prepared.

But when several Defense Shields were shattered one by one, everyone realized something was wrong.

”AHH!!”

A scream pierced the air.

Nina Jacobs’s attack had directly shattered the various elemental shields, killing several people behind them on the spot!

As for that seemingly vicious thicket of thorns, she incinerated it completely with a single Fireball.

THUD!

Wayne Warner slammed a burly man to the ground, then spun around and delivered a roundhouse kick to someone behind him.

Watching the group collapse in an instant, those still standing began to back away.

A cold glint flashed from above.

”Watch out above! Snipers!” Nina Jacobs warned.

Around the high walls stood several seemingly sealed watchtowers.

The dark muzzles of guns were quietly extending from within.

”Trying to ambush us? I’m an expert at that!”

Silas Crowley tossed several Thunder Balls into the air, each one seemingly filled with magnetic force.

A bullet shot out from above, only to be caught by something in mid-air, then get sucked into a Thunder Ball with a CRACK.

Nina Jacobs looked away.

Silas Crowley’s Thunder Element Superpower was a bit different from others; he was more skilled in Electromagnetic Control.

As long as his Superpower was active, those bullets were completely useless.

Meanwhile, Tristan Lynch and his group nearby had already killed one of Achilles Renner’s female deputies.

Without his two deputies to tie them down, Felix Finch, who was facing off against Achilles Renner, quickly gained the upper hand.

Achilles Renner hadn’t expected that the deployment they had spent days planning would be so quickly routed.

Especially that woman called Zephyra. She was fighting with an almost manic ferocity.

A piercing pain shot through his shoulder.

A Fire Fist from Felix Finch had nearly run him through.

Achilles Renner frowned. ’At this rate, we’re all going to die,’ he thought.

”Tristan Lynch! There’s no way she was sent by the Association! You’ve all been deceived!” Achilles Renner shouted.

”Hmph. You think we’d ever believe you again?”

Tristan Lynch was unmoved.

In his eyes, Achilles Renner was just trying to sow discord.

”No, she’s too exceptional.

Why would the Association send someone like her to a place like this?

Just think about yourselves!”

Achilles Renner pressed on relentlessly.

Tristan Lynch faltered for an instant. Seizing the opportunity, Achilles Renner conjured a Metal Wheel and struck him in the abdomen!

”Brice Stone!”

At Achilles Renner’s command, Brice Stone, now free, immediately understood. He threw out a bag of white powder, and with a boost from a Wind Element Superpower, the powder instantly blinded everyone nearby.

”Trying to escape with dirty tricks again? You won’t get away.”

Felix Finch was a Spiritual Element Superpower User himself; Achilles Renner’s every move was within his perception.

Even with his eyes shut, a Fireball still morphed into a sharp spike and shot straight toward Achilles Renner’s back!

SQUELCH!

The Fire Spike cleared a path, and Felix Finch’s hand plunged through Achilles Renner’s back with ease.

Nina Jacobs saw this happen. She had been about to make a move herself, but it seemed there was no longer a need.

It had to be said, Felix Finch was truly a formidable opponent.

What surprised her most, however, was Kelly Ainsworth. Although she had been crying continuously after killing her first person, she soon killed a second, then a third...

”Tristan, hang in there!”

Lachlan was supporting Tristan Lynch, who was still coughing up blood.

They had already killed Brice Stone, but Tristan Lynch looked like he wasn’t going to make it.

”You... you guys should follow her from now on. Don’t go back to the Association...”

After saying this, Tristan Lynch’s vision went black and he passed out.

When he woke up again, he found himself lying on a hard, single bed.

It was a single bed in Gralem Prison.

’I’m not dead?’

Just then, the iron-barred door was pushed open, and Corisande walked in.

”You’re finally awake. I thought you’d lost so much blood you were going to become a vegetable,” Corisande said after a brief pause.

”I bet you guys were hoping I wouldn’t wake up, weren’t you?” Tristan Lynch couldn’t help but say.

”It was Miss Zephyra who saved you. The Hemostatic Medicine she brought is extremely effective.

But she told us not to call her by her codename, Zephyra, anymore. Said it’s a bit cringey.”

From Corisande’s words, Tristan Lynch also learned that he had actually been asleep until the next day.

”Then... what’s her name?” Tristan Lynch asked.

”Nina Jacobs. She said her name is Nina Jacobs.”

Seeing Tristan Lynch looking a bit dazed, Corisande added:

”Maybe we should go back to using our real names, too?

I remember your real name is actually Tristopher.”

”Tristopher my ass. We’ll do whatever Miss Nina Jacobs says.

Whatever she wants to call us, that’s what we’ll be called,” Tristan Lynch snapped irritably.

Nina Jacobs had also barely slept all night.

Achilles Renner’s people had all been dealt with. The prison had also held nearly forty Water Element Superpower Users captive.

This included Mirelle Keller, who had arrived before her.

These Water Element Superpower Users had been used as bargaining chips by Achilles Renner, their daily activity restricted to a tiny prison cell.

Nina Jacobs had now released all of them.

However, most of these Water Element Superpower Users wore numb expressions.

According to Lachlan, the vast majority of them had been captured in Lornwood Base. They were unruly Water Element Superpower Users who had been scheduled for execution.

It was Tristan Lynch and his group who had spent a large amount of resources to secretly trade for them.

Of course, Tristan Lynch’s group hadn’t originally planned on treating these Water Element Superpower Users well, either.

Although Mirelle Keller had only been there for a few days, she had managed to figure out the situation with these Water Element Superpower Users.

Before Nina Jacobs went to see them, Mirelle Keller told her:

”Many of them still have family or friends in Lornwood Base.

They were captured because they resisted before.”

Looking at the thirty-nine Water Element Superpower Users before her, Nina Jacobs felt a mix of emotions.

After briefly introducing herself, Nina Jacobs said:

”We’ve killed Achilles Renner. For now, please go and register your personal information.”

Achilles Renner was dead.

Having grown accustomed to their confinement, the group showed little reaction to the news.

They woodenly accepted a form.

It was only when they saw a line of text at the bottom of the form that their expressions finally stirred.

The form read: What is the one thing you want to do most right now?

’The one thing I want to do most...’

Lynn Carter was the first to hand in her form.

Nina Jacobs was alone in the room; the others were all standing guard outside.

Lynn Carter had braced herself to be mocked, but the woman before her simply offered a cup of warm, freshly made milk tea with a gentle expression.

”It’s probably been a while. Have some,” Nina Jacobs gestured.

Lynn Carter took a hesitant sip. The sweet flavor spread across her taste buds, a familiar taste that reminded her of a peaceful afternoon before the apocalypse.

”You want to reunite with your family in Lornwood Base, is that right?” Nina Jacobs asked calmly, looking at the form Lynn Carter had filled out.

”I know. It’s impossible for you to send me back,” Lynn Carter said, staring at the foamy milk tea in her hand.
