While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Mining Is So Difficult, Rowan Rhodes Is So Amazing

[District 122: (95,837 / 100,000)]

”Celia Lynch: I’ve already arrived at Glimmerstone Isle. It really has shrunk a lot. A mysterious big shot left a tip on the island saying there are ores on the seabed, so players arriving later don’t need to worry. You can prep diving suits and oxygen bottles in advance.”

”@Celia Lynch, the mysterious big shot refers to Rowan Rhodes.”

”@Celia Lynch, did you see the big shot?”

”AHHH! I’m on my way too and can already see the Map for Glimmerstone Isle.”

”Celia Lynch: The big shot has probably left already. I’m just reminding everyone to start mining now.”

”So other players have reached Glimmerstone Isle?”

”Their Speed is quite fast!”

”The big shot is actually pretty nice. She even specifically told us there are ores on the seabed, at least leaving us some scraps.”

”But if she hadn’t done so much Collection, we definitely could have mined more.”

”Heh.”

”Mysterious big shot = Rowan Rhodes confirmed +1. Earlier, the ores in the Sea Survival Shop stopped updating, so she must have left Glimmerstone Isle.”

”What a pity, I wanted to see the big shot!”

”The big shot ran off with a bunch of ores ages ago.”

”It wouldn’t be bad to see other big shots either.”

”Charge!”

”No, wait, I want to know—how much smaller is Glimmerstone Isle exactly? Do we really have to go to the seabed to mine?”

”By the time it’s our turn to arrive, it’ll definitely be at the seabed.”

”Harold Thompson: I’ve already arrived. It’s not a matter of waiting for you guys; the island is already close to sea level! There’s only a tiny bit left. Isn’t Rowan Rhodes going too far!!!”

”Harold Thompson: What gives her the right?”

”Harold Thompson: If she were truly kind-hearted, she should share some ores with us.”

”...”

Harold Thompson just started going crazy in the world channel like this. The other players were rendered speechless. Whether they agreed or not, none of them were going to step up and voice their opinions. In fact, they somewhat admired Harold Thompson. After all, he was the only one whose stupidity and malice were so blatantly obvious. Simon Quinn was also quite bad, but at least he knew to keep a low profile when the situation was against him.

Seeing that he was the only one performing a one-man show, Harold Thompson soon stopped posting. Looking at the rafts parked nearby, he hurried onto the island. Then, he actually saw the four words Rowan Rhodes had left behind. The moment he saw them, he stomped his foot directly on the message, completely scuffing out the words. He wasn’t going to give Rowan Rhodes the chance to win people’s favor! Celia Lynch was incredibly annoying. Why was she always so kind as to promote a good reputation for Rowan Rhodes? Furthermore, they had clearly confirmed that the mysterious big shot was Rowan Rhodes, yet they kept calling her that.

Muttering to himself, Harold Thompson took out his Iron Pickaxe and walked toward the sparsely populated mine. Of course, during this process, his gaze continuously wandered over Zelda Parrish, Celia Lynch, and the others. Relying on the personalities reflected in some people’s statements in the world channel, Harold Thompson matched the people to their online personas one by one.

First was Zelda Parrish. Having been severely beaten by her, he had a deep impression of her face, so she was the first one he spotted. He had analyzed the situation and concluded that the person who hit him back then could only have been Zelda Parrish. Next was Celia Lynch. Although they had never met, after eliminating the other two, it had to be her. Then came Faye Sinclair and Owen Caldwell. Judging by their age, it could only be them.

Thinking of his reputation in the world channel, Harold Thompson didn’t dare go up and greet them after identifying who they were. He was afraid of being ganged up on. He scurried over to a corner and began mining for ores.

Because Rowan Rhodes had mined here, everyone had a clear understanding of the zoning for the different types of ores. Zelda Parrish’s group of four was targeting four different ores, and Harold Thompson chose a different one as well. He knew that he would definitely have to change spots to mine later. He needed to get a little bit of each different ore. Having made up his mind, Harold Thompson started digging.

He originally thought he would work hard to mine a bit more. Even if he couldn’t compare to Rowan Rhodes, he had to catch up with the others. But when he actually started mining, Harold Thompson was completely dumbfounded. This was actually somewhat difficult! He couldn’t even mine a complete piece with a single strike! Was the ore too hard, or was his Strength lacking?

Harold Thompson cautiously glanced at the few people around him. Faye Sinclair and Owen Caldwell also needed several strikes to gather a single ore. However, Zelda Parrish and Celia Lynch were a different story. Their personal Strength was clearly not simple; they were basically getting one ore per strike.

Harold Thompson suddenly recalled the moment he was struck by Zelda Parrish’s shovel. He still remembered the pain to this day! It seemed that this Celia Lynch was also not to be trifled with! Harold Thompson thought of the robbery Simon Quinn had mentioned earlier. He felt it was truly necessary to evaluate his opponents. At the very least, neither Zelda Parrish nor Celia Lynch was easy to mess with. Speaking of which, if both Zelda Parrish and Celia Lynch were this formidable, what about Rowan Rhodes?

Harold Thompson’s gaze immediately shifted to the world channel. Normal discussions had already resumed, but scrolling up, the contents of his earlier ’crazy’ rants were still there. Harold Thompson truly wished he could go back in time and beat himself to death. What if the big shot decided to teach people a lesson later and chose to deal with him? At this moment, Harold Thompson’s Wisdom made a slight return. He finally realized just how many stupid things he had done.

He could only say that it was a good thing the big shot hadn’t staked out the area to directly rob them players; otherwise, not a single one of them would have escaped. Harold Thompson made up his mind. While on this island, he would keep a lower profile!

Just as Harold Thompson was calculating all this, other players arrived one after another. For the most part, the majority of players chose to go mining upon arrival. After all, they had to ensure they mined a certain amount of ores by the end of the day. If nothing unexpected happened, tomorrow would bring a new natural disaster. They couldn’t possibly be wandering around outside when the disaster struck.

As for waiting until three days later, that was impossible! Delaying for even one day would mean falling far behind other players, let alone delaying for three days. Not knowing whether falling behind would have any detrimental effects, they could only try their best to keep up with the progress of the majority. It was worth noting that there was an Island Exploration Quantity Leaderboard in the rankings. Since this leaderboard existed, it proved that exploring islands was definitely useful.

The number of players gathering on Glimmerstone Isle grew increasingly larger. And it was precisely because so many players started mining that they realized just how difficult it actually was.

”Oh my god! Mining is so hard.”

”I’ve spent most of the day and only mined about a dozen!”

”I feel like it’s not even as easy as salvaging resources from the seabed.”

”Once I mine ten of each type, I’m leaving. Salvaging resources from the seabed is faster, and it’s a rare harvest day.”

”Before, someone was even saying what if the island’s resources get completely stripped and mined away. Well, it hasn’t been stripped bare, but what we can actually get is only this tiny bit!”

”Exactly, exactly. Don’t go thinking everyone is a big shot.”

”What kind of Equipment is the big shot using to mine anyway!”

”It has to be electricity-related Equipment.”

”Haha, what I said before has become reality.”

”Ores above the sea level are already this hard to mine, let alone the ones on the seabed.”

”You only realize how awesome the big shot is after experiencing it yourself.”

”Big shot Rowan Rhodes isn’t mining ores anymore. Why isn’t she selling the Equipment she has!”

”That’s definitely for the sake of the majority of players. If she sold it, some player would definitely buy it. By then, ordinary players would struggle to mine even one, let alone dozens!”

”Then why doesn’t she forbid herself from using it?”

”She has the ability, so why shouldn’t she use it?”

”Well, she can’t keep this Equipment hidden forever, right!”

”She definitely won’t keep it hidden forever. She might be waiting for the right moment.”

”This Equipment can earn a massive profit. The big shot definitely won’t pass that up.”

”...”

The players in District 122 discussed this, but they were neither anxious nor impatient. Through the world channel, they had already learned that ores weren’t that easy to gather. The players who were initially anxious were now not worried in the slightest. They would just let their rafts advance at a normal Speed while they focused on salvaging resources. As long as they had enough resources, they would eventually be able to buy what they needed from the big shot, right? It could only be said that Rowan Rhodes’s previous actions had already laid the groundwork in the players’ minds.

Compared to the calm demeanor of the District 122 players, however, the mood of players from other districts upon arriving at Glimmerstone Isle was entirely different.
