While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Harvest Day Feels So Good

[Sea Survival Calendar: January 10, 0:00. Current Temperature: 10°C. Weather: Sunny. Snow is rapidly melting. The seawater is a bit chilly, but today is a day of harvest.]

God! It was actually a harvest day.

Many players’ Natures drove them to pay attention to the calendar, but out of habit, they usually only checked the temperature. Once they confirmed that the temperature was returning to normal in a short time, the first thing they did was strip off their heavy cold-resistant suits. Immediately after, their attention shifted to the world channel.

It had to be said that after enduring such a long, grueling period, the world channel was the perfect place for many players to vent their emotions. However, they hadn’t expected the Sea Survival Calendar to hide such crucial information.

”Harvest day? Does that mean we’ll get a lot of loot today?”

”Definitely! During the extreme heat disaster, it only said things would return to normal. It didn’t mention a harvest day!”

”Does that mean marine resources will increase?”

”God! The game is finally showing us some mercy.”

”I’m suddenly looking forward to this.”

”Speaking of which, the temperature went up so fast, so why can’t the snow melt faster too?”

”The notification did mention rapid melting.”

”Maybe the rapid melting is tied to the harvest day!”

”If that’s the case, I’m even more excited for daytime.”

”If we gather loot all day today, maybe we’ll have enough resources to trade for Equipment with the top players before the next disaster hits.”

”That’s a good idea. For those of us without support-type Skills, we just have to rely on the resources we gather ourselves!”

”I’m still really grateful to that mysterious top player. Now we all have some hope!”

”Yeah! I only survived this time because I traded for enough Equipment.”

”...”

After confirming that today was a harvest day, the players were all ecstatic. More loot meant a higher chance of survival.

Rowan Rhodes immediately checked her control panel, and by Nature, she also noticed the bustling activity in the District 122 world channel. She stared blankly at the line: ”Today is a day of harvest.” She could be certain that this had never happened in her previous life. The appearance of this harvest day was another variable.

This variable might be related to the emergence of the Sea Survival Shop, which allowed resource exchanges between different districts and provided prompts for certain goods to other districts. More players had survived. Therefore, the Sea Survival Game had rewarded the players. As a reward, an extra attribute was added to this safe day: harvest.

At this point, a new doubt surfaced in Rowan Rhodes’s mind. The Sea Survival Game was obviously targeting players, yet it triggered a reward when the player survival rate was high. These two facts were contradictory.

If the premise still held true, there was only one way to explain it. Even though the Sea Survival Game targeted players, there were certain underlying rules it had to follow. One could say that these rules were the players’ lifeline in the Sea Survival Game. Did this mean that keeping more players alive was beneficial to the overall player base, allowing them to gain more?

Rowan Rhodes let out a long breath. This realization only cemented her previous thoughts. She would make good use of the Sea Survival Shop to accomplish this.

Yawning, Rowan Rhodes went into her room to rest. She would get a good night’s sleep and fight again tomorrow.

Early the next morning.

When Rowan Rhodes woke up, she could already feel bursts of warmth. Looking at the temperature, it had already reached a rather comfortable 22°C. She noticed that the ice layer in the other spatial area had completely turned back into the ocean. The foggy weather had also cleared up, leaving the sky a bright, crystal-clear blue. This kind of sunny weather really put people in a good mood!

Meanwhile, Rowan Rhodes’s solar-powered electric drill and iron pickaxe had stopped working. Since they were Equipment, they had Durability, especially when running non-stop. Lasting for more than a day was already considered very impressive. Judging by the time, they had probably just broken down not long ago. Rowan Rhodes simply replaced some resources and restarted them.

Her gaze subconsciously turned toward the entirety of Glimmerstone Isle. After a day and a night of mining, half of Glimmerstone Isle had been hollowed out. If she kept at it for another day, she would likely hollow out the entire island. However, going by the time, the faster players would probably arrive by the afternoon.

Rowan Rhodes subconsciously glanced at her stockpile. Her ore count had already reached five digits. Since each type of ore had a different hardness, their quantities, by Nature, differed as well. This was something she wouldn’t have even dared to imagine in her previous life. With these ores, she could practically lay down an industrial foundation.

After concluding that other players might arrive in the afternoon, Rowan Rhodes didn’t sit idle. She steered her raft a good distance away from the island and began salvaging various resources from the sea. It had to be said that this harvest day truly lived up to its name. The resources floating in the ocean were not only densely packed but also highly varied. Not only were there resources suitable for different Level rafts, but there were even some she had never seen before.

Rowan Rhodes even spotted a drift bottle among them. Curious, she fished the drift bottle right out of the water. Opening it, she found a recipe inside.

[Recipe: Braised Pork]

Rowan Rhodes’s eyes lit up slightly. With a recipe, she wouldn’t have to cook manually. She only needed to put the required ingredients into the cooking platform, and she would quickly get a mouth-watering dish. Of course, she could still choose to cook it herself. This was especially true for players with a Cooking Skill, as the dishes they made themselves would even provide attribute bonuses! Suddenly, Rowan Rhodes became extremely interested in the ocean’s bounty.

In reality, it wasn’t just Rowan Rhodes. When players from other districts woke up and saw the resources floating in the sea, they went absolutely ecstatic. They had truly never experienced such an abundance. This harvest day was way too awesome!
