While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Trading Resources for Resources

”Oh my god, there are so many resources in the ocean!”

”Not just many, but incredibly diverse! I’m seeing a lot of things I’ve never seen before.”

”Blueprints, ores, food, drinks, seeds... so many varieties.”

”We struck gold, we struck gold!”

”I’m so happy.”

”Why is this Safe Day different from the last one?”

”Who knows? As long as we get stuff, it’s fine.”

”I’m just worried that giving us so many benefits all of a sudden means the next natural disaster’s difficulty will spike. What then?”

”There will be disasters regardless of whether there’s a harvest day or not! It’s better to face them with abundant supplies than with nothing at all. Our chances are higher!”

”True.”

”You guys still have time to chat? Hurry up and salvage the resources!”

”I’m setting up fishing nets right now. You guys should extend your rafts horizontally and place a fishing net on each. Catching resources that way is much faster than using your Hook Claw.”

”That’s a great idea.”

”Besides, fishing nets aren’t expensive right now. With how dense the ocean resources are, you definitely won’t lose out.”

”...”

Similar discussions flooded the World Channels of every district. Faced with this windfall from the sky, only one thought remained in their minds: salvage by any means necessary.

Even the desire for the third island faded among many players. It had been proven that the third island consisted mostly of ores, and ores were nowhere near as important as survival supplies! Salvaging came first. This had almost become a universal consensus.

Because of these abundant supplies, a wide variety of goods and resources began to appear in the Sea Survival Shop and the Trading Hall. Still, many players prepared to trade resources to upgrade their rafts. After all, if there was one thing they were certain of, it was that a higher raft level meant better risk resistance. These were all relatively high-Level players. Just like that, the entire server plunged into a state of wild revelry.

Naturally, Rowan Rhodes also used her Hook Claw to salvage resources. However, during the downtime when her stats dropped, she would check the World Channel, the Trading Hall, and the Sea Survival Shop. Whenever she saw something she wanted, she bought it without hesitation—especially seeds.

Ever since the first island, many players knew that they could grow crops on their rafts. However, seeds remained scarce. Coconut, Mango, and Watermelon were relatively common, but even so, they were quite expensive. When staple crops like potatoes and sweet potatoes appeared in the Sea Survival Shop, players went absolutely crazy fighting over them. Every player understood the importance of seeds. Thus, seed prices remained exorbitant in both the Trading Hall and the Sea Survival Shop.

Of course, many players preferred to list their items in the Sea Survival Shop. But since there were only a hundred or so districts with permanent players, items in the Sea Survival Shop were still in the minority. Even in those specific districts, the moment seeds were listed in the Sea Survival Shop, they were instantly snatched up.

It was safe to say that even though the Sea Survival Game was fraught with difficulties, there were still players who managed to thrive. These players understood the importance of securing their own food supply. In the face of natural disasters, the first priority was disaster prevention, followed closely by food and water. Rather than relying on the sea for sustenance, it was better to grow their own crops. That was why these players were willing to put in the effort.

Even with her quick reflexes, Rowan only managed to snatch a portion of the seeds. However, taking advantage of this opportunity, she utilized the Sea Survival Shop to send trade requests to the permanent players. She didn’t expect them to accept the trades unconditionally; she was simply giving them a chance to state their demands. At least for now, she was the only one who could provide most of the resources that many players desperately wanted.

Sure enough, shortly after she sent out the trade requests, the ”conditions” required by the other parties were sent back.

[Chili Seed x1. Trade: Engine x1, Steering Wheel x1, battery x1]

[Radish Seed x1. Trade: Engine x1, Steering Wheel x1, battery x1]

[Tomato Seed x1. Trade: Engine x1, Steering Wheel x1, battery x1]

[...]

It was clear that the resources players currently needed were basically identical. These three items were what they lacked the most. Moreover, they definitely had more than one type of seed available for trade. Rowan’s gaze unconsciously drifted to the Sea Survival Shop. Two hundred permanent players were simply too few! If there were more players, she could leverage a much greater amount of resources.

However, Rowan didn’t agree to their exorbitant demands. She basically only agreed to trade one resource for one seed. When she resubmitted the modified trades, the other parties generally accepted.

Watching the trades being settled, Rowan walked over to the Workbench. She didn’t have many Engines, Steering Wheels, and batteries on hand. If she wanted to fulfill the trades, she had to start producing them immediately.

As for ocean resources, the fishing nets surrounding her raft could collect a significant amount. With the raft upgrades, her fishing nets had long since transformed into electronic fishing nets. These electronic nets would automatically salvage and deposit resources, saving Rowan a lot of hassle.

Furthermore, the Seagull Family, knowing that Rowan liked rare resources, had been salvaging drift bottles, food, and other items from the ocean. By now, their loot had already piled up into a small mountain. Among these, the one thing they never missed was food and drinks. Having eaten and drank well under Rowan’s care, they now had higher standards. They wanted delicious food, and flavorful food was even better.

Meanwhile, Rowan had already taken out the Engine blueprint. It had to be said that aside from directly obtaining Engines from sunken ships and abandoned airplanes, crafting an Engine required a blueprint first. And blueprints were found on abandoned airplanes. Therefore, she could only profit from Engines during this current wave. After all, once players landed on the islands, the number of Engines circulating among the player base would increase.

[Engine: Metal Ingots x6, rope x6, circuit board x1, Wooden Board x20, Hinge x1, iron nails x10, Blueprint x1]

After confirming she had all the necessary resources, Rowan immediately set the Workbench to start production and inputted the required quantity. Engines popped out from the Workbench one after another. Once the conditions were met, she directly initiated the trades with the permanent players in the Sea Survival Shop. Of course, she didn’t forget to list trades in the Trading Hall of District 122 either.

Once the Engine production was underway, it was time for the Steering Wheels and batteries.

[Steering Wheel: Metal Ingots x5, rope x5, Hinge x2, Trash x10, Wooden Board x2, Blueprint x1]

[battery: copper ingot x1, plastic x6, Trash x3]

Similarly, Rowan possessed massive quantities of the resources required for both items, so she directly began producing them on her other two electronic Workbenches. As trade after trade went through, countless seeds flowed into Rowan’s pockets. Naturally, countless other players also obtained the Engines, Steering Wheels, and batteries they needed, finally beginning the upgrades and modifications to their rafts.
