The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 1279: Chapter 477: Palace Scheming Is No Match for Rebellion (Part 14)_2

According to the plot it knows and the situation it has monitored, it knows that Feng Shou is Emperor Yongcheng’s teacher, ranked among the Three Great Ministers.

On the surface, he may not be as powerful as the two great powerful ministers Wang Yuan and Zhao Shuo, but he is the one the late Emperor valued the most.

Those military meritorious officials and old subordinates left behind by the late Emperor trust him the most.

As long as Feng Shou firmly stands behind Emperor Yongcheng, his throne will not be easily taken away.

With Feng Shou back, Emperor Yongcheng will indeed have more confidence.

But Feng Shou is someone who takes ritual and propriety extremely seriously.

Setting other things aside, just in the matter of Emperor Yongcheng choosing a candidate for Empress, he really can’t be considered as following the rules and having the overall situation in mind.

If Feng Shou truly acts for Emperor Yongcheng’s sake, he will advise him to stay away from Lady Hu and her daughter.

If so, Zheng Nianer probably wouldn’t come back anytime soon.

After hearing Student Xiao D’s doubts, He Tiantian smiled and shook her head.

Feng Shou is indeed formidable, and he is wholeheartedly devoted to Emperor Yongcheng.

But Emperor Yongcheng is a total bear child.

When he was young, Feng Shou could still smack his hand or vent by making him copy books.

But now, Emperor Yongcheng is grown up, and he’s the Emperor.

As a Minister, even as imperial tutor, Feng Shou must maintain at least basic respect toward Emperor Yongcheng.

Let alone beating or scolding, he can’t even speak too harshly.

He can only advise, advise, and advise!

The problem is, does Emperor Yongcheng listen to advice?

Or rather, does he reason things out?

If he could, he wouldn’t have ended up at daggers drawn with his own mother!

If things go wrong, the more Feng Shou tries to persuade him, the more he may trigger the bear child’s rebellious streak.

In a fit of anger, Emperor Yongcheng might directly summon Zheng Nianer back to the Capital City, or even directly confer her as a Consort and bring her into the Imperial Palace—he’s perfectly capable of doing that!

He Tiantian did not turn on the God’s Eye View; she only made a guess based on Emperor Yongcheng’s style of doing things.

Although she did not guess the exact truth, she wasn’t far off.

Emperor Yongcheng was indeed ”persuaded” by Feng Shou into acting childish; he actually went and privately settled a marriage agreement with Duke Dingguo, thereby setting off a whole subsequent chain of events—

The choice of Empress was finally settled: it would be Duke Dingguo Tao Yong’s young legitimate daughter.

Once the dust settled, Emperor Yongcheng not only didn’t feel any relief, he instead thought of Zheng Nianer again.

For the sake of the throne and Jiangshan, he sacrificed his own love and could not become a legitimate, aboveboard married couple with Nianer.

He—he has truly let down Nianer’s sincere heart, and even more, he has failed his wet nurse.

”Nianer, are you doing well at the villa? Has your body recovered?”

Murmuring Zheng Nianer’s name, the longing Emperor Yongcheng had suppressed for so long surged over him like a tide.

He missed her!

He missed her like a madman!

I want to see Nianer immediately.

Back when Zheng Nianer left the Capital City, Emperor Yongcheng didn’t even say he’d go see her off.

But now, Emperor Yongcheng seemed as if he were possessed, with nothing in his heart or mind but his little best friend.

He could no longer hold back, couldn’t wait another moment; he took his trusted little eunuch and a few guards and rushed out of the Imperial Palace.

Zheng Nianer: ...

She was no longer the original Zheng Nianer; as a soul that had time-traveled from a later era, she had taken over the original owner’s body and fused all her memories.

So she knew that this body’s identity was rather awkward—

On the surface, Zheng Nianer was the young lady of a Lord’s Mansion, and her parents were quite favored by the Emperor.

In reality, though, her real mother was the Emperor’s wet nurse, long since loathed by the Empress Dowager.

Fortunately, the Emperor had always protected the Zheng Family, or else the Empress Dowager would have taken them in hand long ago.

Even so, it was very hard for the Zheng Family to merge into the circle of aristocratic power in the Capital City.

Those people, whether from noble families or newly risen poor families, were unwilling to look directly at the Zheng clan.

Farmer!

Lowly maid!

All sorts of insulting words—they didn’t say them out loud, but that bone-deep contempt in their eyes was what hurt the most.

The original owner didn’t care about that; instead, she was proud that her own real mother was the Emperor’s wet nurse.

Her conduct was also extremely high-profile.

She even dared to secretly call the Empress Dowager an ”Old Witch.”

As for the original owner’s real mother—

Zheng Nianer really didn’t want to condemn this body’s birth mother; she wasn’t the original owner, but since she had taken over the original owner’s body, she had to bear all her karma.

It’s just that what Lady Hu did truly couldn’t be called kind.

This was just like certain nannies in later generations: taking their employer’s money, yet badmouthing the employers in front of the children, sabotaging the children’s relationship with their real parents?!

Don’t talk to her about how the nanny is closer than the real mom and dad—without enough salary, would the nanny still be so good to the child?

Zheng Nianer was not trying to excuse those irresponsible parents who only pay money but don’t care about their children.

She just felt that you can’t lump everything together with one sweeping statement.
