The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 1254: Chapter 469: Palace Scheming Is No Match for Rebellion (Part 6)

The Empress Dowager wants to break with the Emperor?!

A ridiculous thought suddenly popped into Wang Yuan’s mind.

Soon, Wang Yuan dismissed it himself!

What’s the purpose?

The Empress Dowager has only one son, the Emperor; she could not rashly break with him!

Even if the Emperor has offspring, Empress Dowager He, who wants to monopolize power, would not easily make a move against the Emperor.

It’s not about any familial bond, haha, not to mention the Royal Family, even the large noble families exalt profit over any kind of sentiment.

Empress Dowager He dared to take advantage of the late Emperor’s illness to secretly carry out small schemes, eventually causing the late Emperor’s death.

This shows that this woman is certainly not a kind-hearted ordinary woman.

If killing her son and pushing her grandson to the throne could allow her to continue to oversee the court and listen to government affairs,

Empress Dowager He would absolutely not refuse.

But now, she wouldn’t do that.

Because Noble Dowager Consort Xie and Prince Liang, that mother and son pair, are still alive, still staying in the Capital City.

Empress Dowager He wouldn’t dare to talk of killing her son, even merely spreading news of discord between mother and son would provoke the restlessness of the Xie family mother and son.

After much difficulty, the Imperial court has settled down, Emperor Yongcheng has reached the age capable of marriage and commanding the government, Empress Dowager He wouldn’t easily do something stupid that hurts those close and delights foes.

However—

If Empress Dowager He doesn’t want to tear her face off with the Emperor, why would she say these things in front of him, the Chancellor?

Wang Yuan was pondering.

When he raised his head, his gaze accidentally collided with the eyes of ”Empress Dowager He”.

Bang!

Wang Yuan understood!

Although Empress Dowager He will not break with the Emperor, she has developed a mind to teach him a lesson.

Muttering for so long, unhesitatingly exposing family scandals, Empress Dowager He’s purpose was only one.

That is to tell Wang Yuan: dear, the Emperor is truly not a suitable candidate for a grandson-in-law.

If Emperor Yongcheng merely liked a so-called little best friend, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

The daughters trained by noble families are usually not the type to be jealous.

They’re meant to be the matriarch, possessing enough tolerance and demeanor.

They are not afraid of their husbands being lecherous, nor would they stop them.

As long as they have given birth to an heir, as long as the husband shows enough respect and courtesy, they don’t care how many women the husband has or how many concubine sons or daughters are born.

Sometimes, they are even more proactive than men at taking concubines.

It’s not for fame of being virtuous and understanding, nor for disregarding their husbands.

It’s simply because, in ancient times, giving birth was an arduous task.

Passing through the Ghost Gate, it’s not just a saying.

Even if she doesn’t die, a woman loses a lot throughout pregnancy and childbirth, and delays many things.

With other women, matriarchs can avoid these concerns and dangers.

Wang Shijiu, as a legitimate daughter cultivated meticulously by her family, naturally wouldn’t care for trivial affection.

What she wants is to benefit the family, what she wants is honor and prestige.

Not to mention marrying an Emperor bound to have numerous Consorts, even marrying a noble son from a family of equal standing, Wang Shijiu is prepared to arrange concubines for her husband.

Wang Shijiu or noble ladies like her are not afraid of the presence of a favored concubine.

As long as the husband follows the rules, as long as the husband’s family respects etiquette, she stands firm as the matriarch.

No little enchantresses could shake her position; she certainly wouldn’t argue over trifles.

Hum, it’s just a toy; to argue with her would only tarnish her identity.

However, what’s being conveyed now by He Tiantian to Wang Yuan—

Dear, this little Emperor we have is not only a passionate lover but also an ”rebel” who neglects rules and etiquette!

Whether it will make the dignified noble lady become an ornament without children and favor in the future is uncertain, but as of now, the Empress Dowager’s experience already shows the little Emperor is unreliable.

Yes, the example of the Empress Dowager is right before your eyes.

Wang Yuan understood He Tiantian’s meaning, suddenly realizing many things.

The Empress Dowager is Emperor Yongcheng’s biological mother, who personally helped him ascend the throne.

Ignoring family affection and gratitude, solely for the sake of etiquette, Emperor Yongcheng ought to be pious and respectful to the Empress Dowager.

To put it bluntly, being a son, even if pretending, he should pretend to be a filial son.

Yet how did Emperor Yongcheng act?

Suppressing the Empress Dowager’s family, elevating a wet nurse.

Now, for the sake of marriage, he even made his earnest mother faint from anger!

Is this what a son should be doing?

Of course, people like Wang Yuan, head of a noble family, are never models of morality.
