The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 1263: Chapter 472: Court Intrigue Can’t Compare to Rebellion (Part 9)

Emperor Yongcheng was severely reprimanded by He Tiantian, full of resentment, yet unable to speak up.

In the end, he could only storm off in a frustrated rage.

Watching the resolute back of Emperor Yongcheng, Nanny Song said worriedly: ”Your Highness, His Majesty he—”

This was indeed a case between a biological mother and son!

Although the Emperor had acted immaturely, he was, after all, the Empress Dowager’s only child.

In the past, mother and son would often argue, yet it never reached the point of breaking ties.

But now, the Empress Dowager showed zero tolerance, and the little Emperor also, being confrontational, the two had become like archenemies.

He Tiantian intentionally displayed a facade of forced strength.

The moment Emperor Yongcheng’s figure disappeared, her once stiff back softened, and she swayed slightly.

Nanny Song, seeing this, hurriedly supported her.

Ah, she already knew her master was just holding on, though she spoke harshly, her heart ached for His Majesty more than anyone.

Only blame Lady Hu for sowing discord, turning a perfectly fine mother and son into this state!

”...Forget it, let’s not bother with him anymore!”

He Tiantian, in a state of ”despair beyond grief,” said in dismay: ”You heard all of what he said just now too!”

”I have failed as a mother, for my only child is not close to me!”

”I push him to be diligent, placed him on the Dragon Throne, and he blames me for being overbearing, accusing me of pressuring him!”

”And now, as I yield to him, allowing him to marry whoever he desires, he suspects me of playing tricks, deliberately making things difficult for him!”

”Ah Wu, tell me, what should I do? How can I make him recognize my painstaking efforts?”

He Tiantian spoke, tears welling up in her eyes.

Which made Nanny Song feel immense pity.

She hastily drew a handkerchief, gently helped He Tiantian wipe her tears.

He Tiantian asked her what to do, but as someone who never married, let alone had children, how could Nanny Song understand how to handle parent-child conflicts?

Feeling distressed for her master, Nanny Song pondered deeply, eventually resorting to a common saying: ”Your Highness, His Majesty is still young, immature. Once he marries and has a wife and children, he will come to understand and appreciate Your Highness’s efforts!”

He Tiantian: ...More nonsense!

Is marriage a cure-all?

Bad habits cultivated since childhood that cannot be changed in over a decade, can be rectified through a marriage?

Or does she think a daughter-in-law is more capable than a mother-in-law?

Something the mother-in-law couldn’t teach well for over a decade, can be straightened out by the daughter-in-law right away?!

Of course, maybe the power of love is greater, more transformative than familial bonds.

But, He Tiantian feels, habits are hard to change, even harder than the Jiangshan.

The selfishness and recklessness of Emperor Yongcheng Zhao Gui lie etched in his genes, resembling that scoundrel of a father!

”Marry? Hmph, he kept saying he wanted to marry Zheng Nianer, and when I agreed, he suddenly sent her away!”

He Tiantian let out a cold snort and said irritably, ”I truly do not understand my son. Could never fathom what he’s always scheming!”

Seeing her master beginning to speak agitatedly again, Nanny Song opened her mouth, wanting to offer some words of comfort.

But He Tiantian beat her to it, saying in a deep voice, ”Enough, Ah Wu, don’t try to persuade me. I’ve thought it through, regarding the Emperor’s matters, I will no longer concern myself, let everything be up to him!”

”Your Highness, you mustn’t argue with His Majesty!”

Nanny Song became somewhat anxious.

She’s not worried about the Emperor, rather she fears that the young master might cause trouble with his antics.

In the end, it will be their Empress Dowager who must tirelessly clean up the mess.

”I am not arguing!”

He Tiantian waved her hand, ”Ah Wu, listen to me. Although the words Qing Nu used to scold me just now were piercing, they contained a measure of truth!”

Nanny Song’s eyes widened: Has her master become muddled with anger? Or is she speaking ironically again?

He Tiantian continued, ”In the past, I always thought of him as a child, ensuring everything for him was well-planned!”

”The hidden harm from Zhao Jiong, the schemes of Noble Consort Xie, I stood at the front, shielding everything from Qing Nu.”

”He doesn’t realize at all that the father he adores never actually wanted him alive, nor does he see that the gentle and kind Noble Consort Xie is actually a vicious, heartless snake and scorpion beauty. Foolishly, he considers them all good people!”

”I protected him too well, never letting him go through any adversity, and now he’s fourteen, yet still behaves mischievously like a child!”

Here, He Tiantian looked up at Nanny Song and said seriously, ”Ah Wu, Qing Nu is the Emperor, he carries the weight of the country and the people on his shoulders.”

”I can shelter him from the storms as long as I live, but what if I die? With him being so naive, so willful, wouldn’t he be bullied to death by the old foxes at court?”
