The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 1261: Chapter 471: Palace Intrigue or Rebellion (Part 8)_2

Some ”recognize the times” and aligned themselves with the late Emperor.

Some chose neutrality, unwilling to become sacrificial lambs in the battle between the Emperor and Empress.

Others continued their loyalty to the He Family, becoming the main trump card for the original owner to protect herself and her son’s life.

Of course, this last group was not large, consisting only of two or three founding nobles.

Fortunately, the original owner acted decisively, causing the late Emperor to pass away four years ago.

The original owner became the Regent Empress Dowager. Though there were three Great Ministers and many of the late Emperor’s trusted aides, she still held the position of rightful authority.

As the Empress Dowager, as long as she didn’t openly rebel, the court ministers couldn’t do much against her.

Regarding her promotion of trusted aides and building her power in the court, the powerful ministers of the Political Affairs Hall would just turn a blind eye.

Sadly, the original owner had bad luck; after sending off the scoundrel late Emperor, an incompetent son arrived.

The little Emperor couldn’t govern on his own, but he still sat on the Dragon Throne and sometimes issued decrees or promoted and dismissed officials.

Most of these actions were against the original owner.

The ministers were already worried about the Empress Dowager’s monopolization of power, so seeing mother and son fighting, they all took the stance of ”waiting to fish in troubled waters.”

Even the three Great Ministers were happy to see the little Emperor restrain the Empress Dowager.

He Tiantian:...

Reflecting on everything the original owner went through, He Tiantian truly wished she could shed a tear of sympathy for her.

Luckily, the original owner was a resilient person. Despite being saddened by her son’s unfilial and rebellious acts, she still did her best to manage her power.

Moreover, she held a unit of Hidden Guards from the He Family in her hands, numbering only thirty thousand, but they were the most loyal and sincere.

The late Emperor feared them, and the three Great Ministers did not push too hard, also because they feared this unit of the He Family’s Hidden Guards.

After He Tiantian crossed over, she quickly took control of these troops and organized the ”Wuh Mu’s Legacy” she learned in the Divine Sculpture World, handing it over to the commander of the Hidden Guards.

He Tiantian didn’t need any Imperial Guards or Hidden Guards; she wanted a special force that could go to battle and defeat enemies.

One day, the He Family’s Hidden Guards would certainly turn from darkness to light in her hands!

Of course, these require time to manage and plan.

Currently, the Hidden Guards are still just a force hidden in the darkness.

Besides daily Troops Training and management of their territory, the Hidden Guards commander also trained some spies.

He Tiantian has a complete list in her hand, and she selected a dozen spies to quietly execute some tasks!

He Tiantian kept all of this hidden from everyone.

Even Student Xiao D only knew she was using spies, but not her intentions.

The plan she harbored in her heart was not known to Student Xiao D either.

This naive child still foolishly thought she would obediently maintain the original owner’s character.

He Tiantian briefly recalled her arrangements, found them very thorough, and thus didn’t pay more attention.

Relying on the original owner’s memory and ability, she continued to painstakingly work through those petitions and strive to discreetly promote some newcomers amidst the powerful families and ministers.

He Tiantian guessed correctly; Emperor Yongcheng painfully sent away Lady Hu and Zheng Nianer and her daughter, but still felt unwilling.

He thought he had already compromised enough, that he had already expressed his desire for peace to his mother.

If the mother truly loved him, she should take the opportunity to reconcile.

But... after two days, the ”Empress Dowager He” showed no signs of reaction.

She continued to handle petitions as normal or go to the Political Affairs Hall to discuss politics.

It seemed she had forgotten about having the son, Emperor Yongcheng.

Or perhaps, the significant ”sacrifice” as perceived by Emperor Yongcheng was trivial to ”Empress Dowager He.”

Emperor Yongcheng suddenly felt a sense of shame from being belittled.

On this day, Emperor Yongcheng, who hadn’t visited the Empress Dowager for half a month, finally couldn’t suppress his feelings, came to pay his respects with a gloomy face.

”Has Qing Nu come? Come, sit, sit!”

He Tiantian saw Emperor Yongcheng acting awkward like a child, secretly sneered, but on her face remained gentle and loving.

She called Emperor Yongcheng by his childhood name, warmly waved him closer to sit beside her, as the original owner would.

Emperor Yongcheng, focused on being sulky, didn’t care about any of that.

He didn’t obediently sit down but stood firmly before He Tiantian.

”Mother, I have sent the wet nurse and Nianer out of the palace!”

His tone was very confrontational, as if a high and mighty debt collector.

He Tiantian raised one eyebrow, pretending to be surprised and asked, ”Sent them away? Why?”

Emperor Yongcheng glared fiercely at He Tiantian, with anger bursting in his eyes.

It seemed he was interrogating: How dare you ask? Do you really not know why I sent them away?
