The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 719: Chapter 290: The Swindler Again (Part 6)_3

Purposely create friction?

Even though Wang Xifeng is rash and thoughtless, she wouldn’t do something so foolish as to leave herself open to criticism.

If she really intended to create trouble and wanted to kill Jia Cong, there are countless covert tricks in the inner courtyards that could make Jia Cong silently disappear.

After hearing He Tiantian’s explanation, Student Xiao D couldn’t help but shudder, ”...That can’t be true, the male lead is just a child.”

”In the deep courtyards of large estates, there’s no shortage of infants wronged unto death!”

He Tiantian spoke indifferently, her voice devoid of emotional fluctuations.

”Then, then hurry up, Tiantian, think of a way to help the male lead.”

As He Tiantian’s close companion, Student Xiao D naturally knew He Tiantian’s principle of ”not meddling with the male and female leads.”

When it said those words, it was merely acting on an instinct to ”protect the young.”

”Let’s not rush!”

He Tiantian would help the male lead, but she would not act hastily.

It wasn’t about breaking her principle of ”not meddling with the male and female leads,” but her current mission truly couldn’t avoid involving the male lead.

The male lead, a man of science and engineering, had grand plans for research in the Red Mansion World, taking steps so large that they nearly caused the Small World to collapse.

He Tiantian wouldn’t deliberately suppress or hinder the male lead’s growth; she would even assist and guide him.

However, even if she wanted to intervene, she had to choose the right moment.

And for now, He Tiantian felt it was best for the male lead to personally experience the heartless, shameless, and irrational behavior of the feudal system, as the original plot dictated.

Only after suffering a harsh dose of ”reality” would the male lead deeply understand the era he was in.

After receiving the beating and feeling the pain, he would actively seek to understand the rules of this world. Whether or not he could change them later, he needed to learn to adapt now!

”Third Master Cong, the master has said that since you are unwell, you should rest and recover!”

The burly wet nurse pushed Jia Cong into the small room and locked the door from the outside.

Her words sounded polite, but her actions were anything but respectful.

Jia Cong was tossed into his small courtyard like a discarded doll, his young face bearing a resentment and bitterness beyond his years.

He had fainted intentionally at the spirit hall, merely wishing to punish the troublesome slave.

Well, this objective was achieved, indeed.

Just now, his wet nurse was beaten with thirty strikes and then, along with her family, thrown out.

The two maidservants by his side were also punished.

But Jia Cong hadn’t seen the good days he’d been waiting for; Jia She cursed him as heartless, unable to be nurtured properly, a disloyal and unfilial son.

Although Mrs. Xing didn’t say anything, her disgusted expression was clear.

Second Lady Lian was affable and even took the initiative to apologize to him, ”Brother Cong, it’s all because I failed to manage the household strictly. To think that such insolent slaves would arise under my watch!”

”Don’t worry, I’ve already chased them out and picked out better ones for you—”

And that stout wet nurse who shoved Jia Cong through the room’s door was the ”good person” that Second Lady Lian mentioned.

Even if Jia Cong was slow-witted, he knew he was being targeted, being retaliated against.

Moreover, Jia Cong wasn’t dull-headed; in fact, he was a mature adult in mind.

He acted the way he did earlier because he was too angry and wanted to avenge the original host; he also underestimated the cruelty and indifference of feudal society.

Being locked alone in a pitch-black room, with the doors and windows tightly shut and no one to speak to.

Such darkness and solitude were enough to frighten a child.

Food was delivered promptly, though: rice mixed with lard, accompanied by greasy side dishes like Elbow, crispy pork, and so forth.

Eating three meals a day like this, without any exercise, would lead to Jia Cong gaining a significant amount of weight in just ten days or half a month.

By that time, which would probably be the day of Qin Keqing’s funeral, Second Lady Lian would let the now plump Jia Cong out and parade him in front of everyone.

Who would then dare to say that Second Lady Lian intentionally mistreated a Concubine Son?

Even those who initially sympathized with Jia Cong would find themselves silently approving and feeling that it might have been the arrogance of the troublesome slave after all. With Second Lady Lian managing such a large household, and having to assist when something happens next door, it was inevitable for her to overlook something amidst such busyness.

Upon discovering the issue, she made timely amends.

Look, now Third Master Cong is being well cared for.

But—

Jia Cong sat alone by the edge of the bed, with the bedding replaced by brand new ones.

It seemed as though his treatment really had improved.

However, as intelligent as he was, he already anticipated that all of it was temporary.

After Qin Keqing’s funeral was over and he fulfilled his mission to ”reappear and whitewash the Jia family’s reputation,” what awaited him would be various forms of retaliation from Jia She and Wang Xifeng...
