The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 702: Chapter 285 This Time It’s Swindler Again (1)

The male lead and the female lead, He Tiantian never paid attention.

She had a principle for her tasks, which was to try not to get involved with the male and female leads.

But this time, even though He Tiantian didn’t want to be involved, she couldn’t easily disassociate herself.

”... Aunt, now I am the Heir of the Marquis Mansion, my father and mother have already returned to the Southwest, I am in charge here, so please move to the Marquis Mansion, I will take good care of you!”

Wei Yanting didn’t mind being used, so after having an open and sincere conversation with Marquis Pingnan, he voluntarily submitted a petition expressing his fondness for reading and his desire to stay in Capital City to take the imperial examinations.

Emperor Chengtai wanted to use Wei Yanting as a tool against Marquis Pingnan’s Mansion, seeing Marquis Pingnan feeling even more pity for his two Concubine Sons, not only did he quickly approve Wei Yanting’s request, he also directly decreed and titled Wei Yanting as the Heir of Marquis Pingnan.

Marquis Pingnan seemed not too pleased, but, as the imperial command was difficult to defy, he could only keep his reluctance at heart.

While networking outside, Marquis Pingnan never brought the Heir along, instead, he had his two Concubine Sons by his side.

And the loving way he treated them, it didn’t seem fake at all.

Everyone (including the Saint), all agreed that Marquis Pingnan indeed disliked the legitimate eldest son who was recognized halfway, and favored the two Concubine Sons more.

Even though the legitimate eldest son was now titled as the Heir, it was still uncertain whether he could successfully inherit the title of the Marquis Mansion.

Wei Yanting instantly became the pitiable little one who everyone sympathized with, and many deliberate individuals began to actively form connections with him.

As for these voluntarily offered connections, Wei Yanting certainly didn’t refuse any.

He rashly joined the circle of the nobles. Without an opportunity or a guide, it was really hard to integrate.

But with Marquis Pingnan’s ”favoritism,” and being smart and witty, self-confident, and self-respecting, Wei Yanting managed to mingle smoothly with those noble offspring.

Moreover, although Wei Yanting came from a noble family, he loved reading.

Hadn’t people heard that he stayed in Capital City to take part in the examinations?

His proactive study attitude greatly pleased the civil servants in the Imperial Court and many scholars.

Wei Yanting grew up in the Feng Family, often mixing in the marketplaces, and was very familiar with the poor families.

He had a natural understanding with the civil servants who came from poor families.

Wei Yanting quickly gained recognition from this group and was rapidly accepted.

During the period when Marquis Pingnan and Emperor Chengtai were at odds, Wei Yanting actually thrived in Capital City.

By the time Marquis Pingnan finally got permission to leave Capital City with the ”seriously ill” Mrs. Zhang, favored concubine Ah Man, and several Concubine Sons and Daughters, Wei Yanting had already secretly made connections with the Eighth Prince.

Of course, this ”secret” not only concealed from Marquis Pingnan but also evaded Emperor Chengtai’s surveillance.

On the surface, Wei Yanting and the Eighth Prince were casual acquaintances, but privately, they had already formed an alliance.

In each other’s eyes, they could see that they were the same kind: ambitious individuals with their respective aspirations.

And they were both adept at disguising, hiding all schemes beneath a gentle and cultured mask.

It’s not to say that the two were villains, but in the Imperial court, there is no absolute good or evil, black or white.

They were just more rational, more lucid, and understood better what they wanted.

Their interactions were mysterious and profound, except for He Tiantian, who possessed the ”Universal Camera,” probably no one else noticed.

Student Xiao D: ”...you’re the ’Universal Camera,’ your whole family are cameras.”

I’ve just activated the God’s Eye View, okay!

He Tiantian: ”...Okay, whatever you say!”

He Tiantian was relatively tolerant toward Student Xiao D who hadn’t shown up for a long time.

Wei Yanting didn’t know that his foster mother had seen through all his secrets; at that moment, he was still earnestly inviting He Tiantian to reside in the Marquis Mansion.

”Aunt, the Marquis Mansion is so big, and I’m the only one there, I, I really feel a bit scared!”

Wei Yanting intentionally acted all pitiable, like a child nobody wanted, showing a pleading look to He Tiantian.

He Tiantian’s eyes were filled with sympathy, ”Young Master Heir, you really have suffered!”

”But, I cannot go to the Marquis Mansion. Firstly, it’s inappropriate by tradition. Although I have raised you for over ten years, I still have no real ties with the Marquis Mansion.”

”You, Young Master Heir, care about our connection and cannot bear to see me suffer alone outside, hence you want to bring me to the Marquis Mansion to enjoy a good life.”

”But, if outsiders come to know, they will criticize you for not understanding propriety. Also, I heard that the master of the Zhang Family has also been pardoned and restored to his position in Capital City.”

”The Zhang Family is Young Master Heir’s formal maternal family. Although the lady is not in Capital City, the Zhang Family has returned. If they find out that a person unrelated to the Marquis Mansion like me is living there, they will surely be displeased!”
