Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System

Mother Wu stopped massaging her legs and raised her head to look at her troublesome daughter. When she saw Mother Yang crying, Old Madam Wu was simply speechless. ”Why are you making a fuss now? Didn’t I tell you that you need to control that son of yours? Han Ruochen is such a good girl. Compared to her, anyone can tell you that her adopted sister is a restless girl. Now that such a thing has happened, who can you blame but yourself?”

Mother Yang did not live in the village, so she had little idea about what kind of person Han Ziyan was, but Old Madam Wu had stayed in the village since she married into the Wu family. As an old woman who had all the experience in the world, how could she not see what kind of woman Han Ziyan was? She had continuously warned her grandson and asked him to be nice to Han Ruochen. Who would have thought that he would end up causing such a chaotic mess? He even lost his job!

”Mom, how can this be blamed on Minmin? It was all the fault of those sisters. One is shameless, and the other is scheming. How could Minmin be a match for them?” Mother Yang had always protected her son; how could she allow anyone to talk badly about him? So even if the one who was scolding Yang Jianming was her mother, she hurried to protect her son.

Seeing her like this, Old Madam Wu had nothing to say. She shook her head and remarked coldly, ”A spoiling mother ruins her son. What happened to Jianming is also your fault. If you had stopped him in time, then nothing like this would have happened. It’s all my fault; I should have taught you better.”

Mother Yang was speechless when she saw that her mother was scolding her.

She did not expect that instead of helping her out, her old mother would scold her. She unhappily muttered, ”Mom, I only have this one son. What will I do if he is ruined? You have no idea. My father-in-law is quite upset with me. He has something to say about my teachings every day, and my husband is the same. If I don’t do something soon, I am worried that I will have no place to stay in the Yang family.”

Mother Yang did not marry into the Yang family through a matchmaker. Though it was an old story, everyone knew that she schemed to roll around in the haystack with Old Yang. Only then was she able to pass through the threshold of the Yang family. She also squeezed out her own cousin, who was supposed to marry Old Yang.

In a way, what she did to her cousin, Han Ziyan, did to Han Ruochen.

In the past few years, this matter had been forgotten by the Yang family because she gave birth to two sons and managed the Yang family quite well, but because of what happened between Yang Jianming and Han Ziyan, she was being scolded by her father-in-law, who kept saying that it was her comeuppance.

How could Mother Yang take this lying down? She felt like she was greatly humiliated!

Old Madam Wu shot a look of displeasure at her daughter. ”What do you want from me? What can I do about this? In fact, you already have a solution, don’t you?”

”What kind of solution?”

”Why are you pretending not to know?” Old Madam Wu snorted. ”Just ask Han Yichen to let his adopted daughter marry your son. She is the one who ruined him, so she should be the one who takes care of him. Since no one is willing to marry your son, there is nothing else that you can do other than letting Han Ziyan marry your son.”

”I don’t want to!” Mother Yang refused right away when she heard her mother’s suggestion. She clearly did not like Han Ziyan in the first place, and if not for the fact that her son promised that Han Ziyan would be able to get Han Ruochen’s job, she would have never agreed to let the two of them date in the first place. And now that such a thing had happened, how could she agree to let that woman marry her son? Wouldn’t that be equivalent to admitting that her son was not good enough and no woman was willing to marry him? How could she do such a thing?

”Then what do you want!?” Old Madam Wu glared at her foolish daughter. ”No good family will marry their daughter into your family because of the good deeds that your son has done. All neighbouring villages know about this matter. And as for county girls, it’s even more impossible! If your son still had that job at school, I could have arranged something for him, but without a decent job, tell me which woman from the county would be willing to marry your son? Who will marry a jobless man to eat and drink the west wind?”

”My son—”

”No matter how good he is, he is only good in your eyes.” Old Madam Wu fanned herself with a leaf fan. She then said in a low voice, ”I will put this right here. It’s going to be very difficult for your son to get married to a countywoman as you want. The most I can do is take out five hundred yuan and arrange a job for him in the steel factory. As for marriage, I can go and talk with Han Yichen. At the end of the day, Han Ziyan and your son had an affair; in the past, they would have been paraded through the streets if they were caught doing something wrong.”

Mother Yang’s eyes turned bright when she heard that her mother could arrange a job for her son, but when she heard that she had to bring Han Ziyan into her family, she turned sullen.

”Mom...”

”There is no use whining with me.” Old Madam Wu narrowed her eyes at her daughter. ”I know very well that you don’t like that girl, but some things need to be done even if you don’t like them. And marrying into the Han family is not a bad thing either. Han Yichen’s pig farm is getting better, and then there is the matter of Han Ruochen buying a motorboat. No matter how you look at it, the Han family will get better in the future.”

Hearing this, Mother Yang lowered her head, her eyes flickering as she started to think things over.
