Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 1201: Chapter 1215: Sacrificing Family for Great Righteousness

”He left. I already told him my job doesn’t allow him to come, but he insisted anyway,” Shen Qi said, fiddling with the medicine bags without even looking up.

An Ran saw several packets of Chinese medicine on the table, and among them there was actually one with An Youcai’s name on it.

She picked up the prescription on top. There was no way she could understand it, so she held it up in front of Shen Qi. ”What illness is this prescription for?”

Shen Qi glanced at the prescription in her hand and laughed. ”My dear big sis, you really think too highly of me. I’ve only been working here for two weekends. Even if you made me work here for two years, I still wouldn’t be able to read this prescription, okay? TCM is broad and profound. Even if two prescriptions look similar, as long as one or two herbs in them are different, the treatment effect is different too.”

As she spoke, Shen Qi took the prescription from her hand and looked at the name. ”An Youcai? So, are you interested in the prescription or the person who prescribed it? If you want to know, I can go ask the doctor for you.”

”No need, I was just asking casually.” An Ran took the prescription back and put it on the table again. Watching the steam coming out of the Chinese medicine machine, she asked, ”Is the work here hard? Are you getting used to it?”

”It’s not bad. I chose TCM because I like messing with those herbs. I remember when I was a kid, the family was poor and we couldn’t afford a doctor. Every time I got sick, Brother would go ask the old folks in the village about medicine.

The old people all knew a bit about what herbs grew on the mountain behind our village and what they could treat. After asking, Brother would go up the mountain alone with a basket on his back to collect herbs. He often came back covered in cuts and bruises, but he never cared about his own injuries, just rushed to decoct the herbs to treat me.

But a lot of medicinal herbs look very similar to weeds, and many times the herbs he worked so hard to gather ended up having no effect at all. Then Brother had to go look again. Back then I used to think, if only I had some superpower that let me tell herbs apart, then Brother wouldn’t have to work so hard.

Kids’ thoughts were naive. How could anyone really have superpowers?”

Shen Qi smiled bitterly.

”Don’t you basically have superpowers now? Once you graduate, you’ll be walking around with superpowers as your shield.” An Ran knew she was thinking of the days with her Brother again, so she deliberately teased her.

In the evening, An Ran was lying on her bed reading when Xiao Xiao pushed the door open and came in, a lunch box in one hand and a delicate little bag in the other.

Seeing An Ran still in the same position as when she’d left, she looked a bit disgusted. ”An Ran, if I remember correctly, Instructor Mu left you a workout assignment, didn’t he? How much was it again? Three kilometers, right?”

Xiao Xiao asked while thinking, a glint flashing through her eyes. ”Should I call Instructor Mu and report your training results?”

An Ran directly tossed the book in her hand at her, but Xiao Xiao dodged it with a quick sidestep.

”Xiao Xiao, are you asking for it? If you dare tell Instructor Mu about this, I’ll tell Brother Yang that you lie in bed every day giggling at his photos.”

An Ran sat up straight with her hands on her hips, looking like, ”Don’t even think about threatening me.”

Sure enough, when she heard that, Xiao Xiao chickened out. ”Alright, alright, look at you. I was just kidding, and you’re really ready to sacrifice your own kin for justice. Do you know how heavy that book of yours is? If it really hit me in the face, my beautiful looks would be ruined. And after all that, I still helped you get food.”

Xiao Xiao put the lunch box on the table, then lifted the other bag in her hand. ”Here, I just ran into Lu Yi. He told me to give you this donkey-hide gelatin. He said it replenishes qi and blood, and you should take it according to the instructions.”
