Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 394: Chapter 407 Apologizing to An Ran (1)

Startled, Lin Ruonan immediately averted her eyes. After all, facing Mu Xingfeng’s ice-cold demeanor for nearly twenty years, she’d long grown accustomed to such an attitude from men. But Brother’s gaze made her scalp tingle.

Thinking back to what Gu Haoyu had said to her last night, Lin Ruonan felt her heart pound erratically.

What the hell, why do I feel this way? Wasn’t she supposed to like Mu Xingfeng? Now that Mu Xingfeng had found someone he liked, shouldn’t she feel heartbroken since she had lost her love?

Lin Ruonan suddenly felt agitated. She disliked this version of herself. After loving someone for twenty years, it seemed too easy to be swayed by another man so soon after losing that love, even if this man was her close Brother.

Isn’t it too unprincipled? Isn’t it too fickle?

”Brother, don’t be like this.” Finally, Lin Ruonan spoke, then withdrew her hand.

Gu Haoyu’s eyes darkened slightly but he said nothing, his gaze steady as he looked ahead.

He knew she wasn’t used to his closeness yet. It didn’t matter, he would take it step by step.

In his eyes, Lin Ruonan was like a blank sheet of paper. Even though she’d liked Mu Xingfeng for twenty years, it was the infatuation of a little girl for a boy, not true love.

He would guide her, lead her to understand what real love was.

Arriving at Mu Xingfeng’s residence, the gate had yet to open. The doorman, seeing Gu Haoyu, quickly opened the gate and greeted, ”Good morning, Young Master Gu.”

”Go notify Young Master Mu that I brought Lin Ruonan to apologize to An Ran,” Gu Haoyu instructed.

”Sure, I’ll let him know right away,” the doorman replied courteously.

Gu Haoyu waved his hand, signaling the doorman to go inform inside, and then began walking towards the house. After a few steps, he noticed the woman behind him still standing in place and glanced back at her.

Just a look was enough for Lin Ruonan to follow him nervously.

”Young Master Gu, Miss Lin, the Young Master is getting up, please wait a moment.” Entering the house, Nanny Chen guided them to the couch and poured them tea.

Gu Haoyu took a sip of tea and placed the cup on the coffee table. He watched the woman in front of him with her pale face, nervously opening and closing her hands, occasionally looking up at the second floor.

”Nervous?” Gu Haoyu asked.

Lin Ruonan nodded. How could she not be nervous? Yesterday, Mu Xingfeng had pointed a gun at her head. It showed just how furious he was at that moment.

Resentful? Yes, somewhat. After all, she had liked Mu Xingfeng for twenty years, and in the end, this was the result.

But this result seemed almost inevitable. Even back when she was in Nan’an, she should have anticipated this outcome, shouldn’t she? She just kept making futile struggles, leading things to an irrecoverable state.

This result was entirely wrought by herself, so it made sense for her to apologize.

Contemplating this, Lin Ruonan seemed to make a decision. ”Brother, don’t worry, I will apologize properly to Xingfeng, I mean, to Second Brother and Second Sister-in-law.”

Hearing her refer to him as Second Brother and Second Sister-in-law, Gu Haoyu’s eyes flickered. If she could say those words, it meant she was likely to let go, right?

At this moment, Mu Xingfeng and An Ran descended from the second-floor bedroom.

”Brother, what brings you here so early?” Mu Xingfeng asked as he walked down.

They had slept late last night, and An Ran had been restless due to nightmares. So today, Mu Xingfeng skipped his morning run to stay with her a bit longer.

Unexpectedly, they were awakened by the servants.
