Chapter 364: Chapter 377: Lin Family Birthday Banquet (1)

He was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he wouldn’t be able to resist hugging the girl and comforting her, telling her not to be scared and that he would take care of everything for her.

...

The next day, at the Lin Mansion.

Old Mr. Lin’s seventieth birthday, the servants had been bustling around since early morning, and by afternoon, guests were continuously arriving to celebrate.

Considering both Old Mr. Lin’s status and Lin Weidong’s current position as a commander, this banquet was undoubtedly a grand event in both political and business circles.

Lin Weidong and Lin Junyang were both dressed in crisp military uniforms today, while Mom Lin, Jiang Xinru, wore a long deep purple dress that highlighted her elegance and nobility. It was undeniable that Lin Ruonan inherited Jiang Xinru’s virtues; no matter how tough the training in the military was, her demeanor remained unchanged, and the struggles only accentuated her cold and noble aura.

At this moment, Jiang Xinru was accompanying Lin Weidong, greeting the guests.

As evening approached, a guard hurriedly came in to report, ”Reporting, sir, the Shen Family has arrived.”

Although the guard didn’t raise his voice, the surrounding guests heard it clearly, and a stir immediately arose among the crowd.

”Is it that Shen Family?”

”Of course, even though the recent generations of the Shen Family have ventured into politics, don’t forget that Old Mr. Shen was a founding hero, equal in stature to Old Mr. Mu and Old Mr. Lin. The three elders shared a deep bond, so the Shen Family had to come for Old Mr. Lin’s birthday.”

”With the Shen Family all here, when will the Mu Family arrive? I heard Young Master Mu recently returned to Du Country. Do you think he’ll attend today’s function?”

This remark came from a middle-aged woman who glanced at her daughter after speaking.

Among the Five Young Masters of the Imperial, each was a highly eligible bachelor. But if we delve deeper, whether in terms of family background, character, or personal ability, Mu Xingfeng would be the top choice.

If the Five Young Masters of the Imperial were the objects of admiration for the city’s young women, Mu Xingfeng would absolutely be the one they most aspired to marry.

”So what if Young Master Mu shows up? Don’t forget, it’s not just Young Master Mu who’s back in the Imperial City, Miss Lin is also here.”

The speaker gave the middle-aged woman a mocking glance, her gaze then shifting to the fuchsia figure not far away. Everyone in their circle knew that Miss Lin and Young Master Mu were childhood sweethearts and a perfect match. A merchant’s daughter dreaming of marrying Young Master Mu was just that–a fantasy.

Lin Weidong was talking with guests when he heard the guard’s report. He stood up, ready to personally go out and greet them.

Old Mr. Lin also stood up, ”Weidong, support me to go greet them.”

”Yes, Father.” Lin Weidong answered promptly, standing beside Old Mr. Lin, and Lin Junyang followed. The family, along with some guests, went outside to greet them.

”Old man, happy birthday,” Old Mr. Shen greeted Old Mr. Lin with a beaming smile.

”Old, old, old brother, please come in,” Old Mr. Lin, equally pleased, smiled brightly upon seeing Old Mr. Shen and his entire family. When his gaze settled on Mu Wanxin next to Shen Wenxuan, he paused slightly before smiling and asking, ”Wanxin, is your good news with Wenxuan imminent?”

Otherwise, why would she come with the Shen Family instead of the Mu Family?

Old Mr. Shen nodded with a smile, ”Yes, they’re no longer young. I’ve been waiting to hold my great-grandchildren with my greying beard. We’ll formally announce their engagement before the end of the year. I’ll need you there, old friend.”

”I’ll definitely be there for your celebration, old brother. Seeing Wenxuan has established his career and is about to settle down, I just don’t know when my two will give me a great-grandchild,” Old Mr. Lin said, glaring fiercely at Lin Junyang.
