Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 355: Chapter 368: Is the BOSS Looking for Trouble After Drinking?

Looking at the two people in the back seat, Qi Wei resigned himself to turning on the warm air. It seemed like they would be spending the night here.

Fortunately, the car was spacious enough that spending a night in it wouldn’t be too uncomfortable.

Well, I’ll just keep an eye on things from here, that way the boss won’t stray off course, Qi Wei thought, thoughtfully raising the partition between the front and back seats.

Lin Ruonan took the second glass of wine and downed it directly.

Gu Haoyu watched her, feeling his heart being sliced into pieces.

Earlier, when she asked Qi Wei to stop the car, he was really worried she might rush over to confront those people.

His Ruonan had already been hurt enough. He couldn’t bear to see her degrade herself any further for a love that never belonged to her in the first place.

Thankfully, she only wanted to vent, and if this could ease her pain, he was willing to accompany her in venting.

Be it racing or drinking, he would indulge her, as long as she didn’t hurt herself or continue to debase herself.

After downing three glasses in a row, Lin Ruonan finally looked at him and sneered, ”Brother, am I especially useless?”

Then, not waiting for Gu Haoyu’s response, she continued on her own: ”Ever since the first time I met Xingfeng, I liked him. But all these years, I’ve never dared to tell him. I just thought that as long as I followed in his footsteps, one day, when he turned around, he’d see me.

But it never occurred to me that he wouldn’t turn around, or maybe he never would. When I was in Nan’an, when I finally mustered the courage to confess, I found it was already too late. I could wait in place, but he never stopped moving forward.

At that time, I was so unwilling to accept it. I loved him for twenty years, followed him for twenty years without gaining his favor. Why could that little girl so easily win his affection? I couldn’t believe this was his true emotion. They were completely people from different worlds; how could they possibly be together?

But I was wrong. No matter how much I struggled, I couldn’t change this fact. Brother, am I too stupid? Too useless? I’m just a coward.”

Gu Haoyu looked at the helpless Lin Ruonan in front of him, his heart aching so much he could barely breathe. Once upon a time, he too had thought this way, waited this way. How could he not understand this persistence?

”Ruonan, you’re not wrong. Loving someone is never wrong, and you’re not a coward. You’ve held on for twenty years for love, how could you be a coward? It’s just that you and Xingfeng are not fated.”

”Fate, huh. Brother, I remember you were the one who never believed in fate. And now you’re talking to me about fate.” Lin Ruonan gave a bitter smile and swallowed all the bitterness along with the ruby-colored wine.

Gu Haoyu also downed his glass of red wine in one gulp. Looking at the woman in front of him, his eyes showed a new determination. Ruonan, if there really is such a thing as fate, then the end of your fate with Xingfeng, does it mean the beginning of ours?

Qi Wei was dozing off when suddenly there was a knocking sound from the partition behind him.

He quickly lowered the partition to see Lin Ruonan leaning against the backseat, obviously having had too much to drink, with three empty bottles between them.

”...”

Does the boss intend to take advantage of the situation?

”Let’s go, head back.” Gu Haoyu took a blanket and carefully covered Lin Ruonan.

”Boss, back to the Lin Mansion?” Qi Wei asked as he turned the car around.
