Chapter 1145: Chapter 30: Cautious and Meticulous

According to known intelligence, the Ant King Meruem has already occupied the Royal Capital and is preparing to gather all the residents of the country of East Gorteau into the Royal Capital as a reserve of food.

The Ant King is very strong, but its birth time is too short. It not only has formidable power but also high intelligence, so it knows one thing: not to expand recklessly, but to stabilize first.

The Ant King does not yet understand this continent. It has only encountered relatively weak humans, which makes it puzzled as to why humans can proliferate and thrive here.

From the memories in its bloodline, the Ant King is aware that it comes from a dangerous continent where many powerful beings exist. The mosaic ants it belongs to were driven out from that continent.

The scenes in the Ant King’s memory were passed down by its mother. On the Dark Continent, not to mention dominating, mosaic ants could barely survive; their bodies were compressed to about 10 cm, leaving no space to evolve upwards.

The Ant King knows the horrors of the Dark Continent, and compared to it, the continent it is currently on seems like heaven, which confuses it. It wonders why other creatures from the Dark Continent do not invade this continent.

The fertility and combat strength of the mosaic ants are extremely astonishing, and now, this information has been learned by the V5 Organization. Therefore, V5 has assigned the Hunter Association to solve this problem, and Chairman Isaac Netero has already arrived in the country of East Gorteau.

This decision by V5 is somewhat casual. The attitude reveals a hint that mosaic ants are not worth fearing; sending the Hunter Association is sufficient, without needing to deploy large-scale troops to avoid irreversible damage to the environment of the country of East Gorteau.

V5’s strength lies in their mastery of technology, which is enough to deter those powerful beings from the Dark Continent from stepping onto the Human Continent due to their high-tech weaponry.

As for the Hunter Association, the strength of Isaac Netero is beyond doubt. But the Hunter Association is merely a privileged civilian institution and not a military force of V5.

If the situation develops to an uncontrollable point, the mosaic ants will discover the terror of humans and understand why humans can proliferate and thrive on this continent.

If V5 deploys troops, then the country of East Gorteau will disappear from the map of the Human Continent, becoming a radiation zone.

Su Xiao understands the current situation; thus, he must not let the mosaic ants develop to the point of uncontrollability. Otherwise, he will have to abandon the Main Task and use the Main Quest Failure Exemption.

The time is still abundant now, with 13 days remaining for the Main Task. The primary task is to eliminate the Ant King within these 13 days, and then comes the more fierce stage of competing for the Ant King’s heart.

After wandering around the vicinity of the Royal Capital, Su Xiao gradually distanced himself from it. The situation within the Royal Capital is somewhat bizarre; he previously killed Yubi, yet the other two direct guards did not take action, which is very unusual.

After a moment of hesitation, Su Xiao took out a Two-Star Hunter License from his pocket. It’s very likely that Netero has arrived in the country of East Gorteau, so joining forces with Netero to deal with the Ant King is the wisest choice, although doing so will certainly involve encountering other Contractors.

As nightfall approached, Su Xiao quickly disappeared into the forest near the Royal Capital.

...

In the early hours of the next day, on a winding path leading to the East Gorteau Royal Capital, three people were walking quickly. Among them were an elderly man, a sturdy man with white hair and sunglasses, and a well-dressed suave man.

Buzz~

A mechanical eye flew above the three of them, causing them to stop in their tracks.

”Is this the reconnaissance method of the mosaic ants? Have they already mastered such high-tech things?”

The suave man frowned, pushing the glasses on his nose.

”Highly unlikely. The country of East Gorteau prohibits modern items, greatly reducing the possibility of mosaic ants mastering technology.”

The white-haired sunglasses man shook his head. He carried a long cloth bag on his shoulder, its contents unknown.

”Whatever it is, it’s best to destroy it first.”

The suave man, clearly cautious, loosened his tie, preparing to act.

”Don’t act rashly, someone is approaching quickly.”

The old man spoke, dressed in a loose white robe with a topknot, large earlobes, giving a sense of kindness.

”Been waiting for you for a long time.”

Su Xiao emerged from the nearby forest. He had set up vigil on several paths leading to the Royal Capital, just waiting for these three, particularly for the old man, who was Isaac Netero, the Chairman of the Hunter Association.

As for the two beside Netero, one was called Uncle Mo, with white hair and round sunglasses, a well-rounded Hunter without any standout strengths or weaknesses. The other, the suave man in a suit, was named Nob.

Nob’s ability is of the Space series; unfortunately, he is too timid. In the original story, he was so frightened by Yubi’s aura that he lost the courage to fight against the mosaic ants.

It should be noted that Nob never saw Pouf with his own eyes; he merely sensed the other’s aura. That’s all.

”Waiting for us? What is the matter?”

Uncle Mo sensed Su Xiao was not friendly, thus preparing for battle.

”If I am not mistaken, you are here to eradicate mosaic ants, just like me. Coincidentally, I am also a Hunter.”

Su Xiao tossed the Two-Star Hunter License in his hand.

”You, obtaining a Hunter License illegally, do you expect to use it to get equal status in the Hunter Association?”

Nob spoke, viewing Su Xiao as a person of unknown origin, firmly opposed to allowing Su Xiao to join the team against mosaic ants.

”This Two-Star License...”

Chairman Netero had maintained a kindly smile, which gradually faded upon seeing the Hunter License in Su Xiao’s hand.

”How is Maha doing? Still on Kukuru Mountain?”

Netero recognized the origin of this Two-Star Hunter License.

”Dead.”

”Dead?”

Netero was somewhat surprised.

”If he really died, the situation with the Zoldyck Family over there might be equally dangerous.”

Netero stroked his white beard, his eyes assessing Su Xiao.

”That old guy died on Kukuru Mountain. Nothing changed with the Zoldyck Family.”

”I see. So, you ventured deeply into Kukuru Mountain with him?”

Netero knew Maha’s situation and some secrets of Kukuru Mountain, as Maha had invited him many times.

”Yes, hired to do some labor for a few days.”

Su Xiao knew Netero was testing him.

”Kukuru Mountain must have been interesting, right?”

”Not really, just plants, and more plants.”

”Oh? What specific plants did you see?”

”Molten Ash, Exotic Plants, Black Thought.”

Su Xiao named three very critical pieces of information.

”Is there any need to continue testing?”

”That’s enough. Unexpectedly, at your age, you ventured deeply into Kukuru Mountain with Maha.”

Netero was intrigued.

”How about we join forces to eliminate the Ant King? With your current condition, you are no match for the Ant King.”

That was Su Xiao’s purpose for finding Netero; undoubtedly, Netero is a very safe collaborator.

”Of course... welcome.”

Netero smiled. He had already discerned that Su Xiao indeed ventured deeply into Kukuru Mountain with Maha. As for whether Su Xiao was good or evil, Netero didn’t care much; he only needed to know that Su Xiao was human and strong enough, which was sufficient.
