Chapter 1139: Chapter 24: Are We Supposed to Compete With Monsters Like This?

Country of East Guotuo, inside a village.

Smoke rose within the village, not from cooking, but from the remnants within.

Su Xiao, Bubu Wang, and A Mu approached the village. Before even entering, they saw a human torso and head.

The limbs had been torn off with brute force, with blood scattered around. This was not a murder, but the remains left by some creature after hunting. Compared to the torso and head, limbs are easier to carry, and the meat is also better.

No need to guess, this was done by mosaic ants. Mosaic ants seldom hunt wild beasts because they discover that humans are easier to catch compared to beasts with good escape abilities. Humans are herding, so every time a village is found, a large amount of ’meat’ can be obtained.

Su Xiao squatted in front of the torso, his fingers touching the skin. From the temperature of the corpse, he judged that the mosaic ants had not gone far.

”Bubu, track them.”

Bubu Wang began searching for suspicious scents within the village and quickly picked up a scent. Tracking began.

Inside a forest five kilometers away, a group of exotic creatures were moving quickly. They carried big bundles, with blood seeping from those bundles and dripping onto the ground.

These exotic creatures were similar in size to humans, they walked upright and wore clothing, but their limbs and heads were completely different from humans, resembling a combination of wild beasts and humans.

These are mosaic ants, whose strongest ability is to seize DNA from other creatures, taking excellent genes and discarding inferior ones.

Therefore, among mosaic ants, other than their ant queen, most of the high-level mosaic ants have no ant-like features. They might be a combination of human and beast or beast and beast with a small part human.

Swish～

The sound of wind breaking came, but the dozen mosaic ants in the forest didn’t react, because to them, this was their territory.

”A beast?”

A hippo-like upright mosaic ant spoke. This was a feature of second-generation mosaic ants, mastering human language from birth.

”Not sure, don’t care, let’s hurry back, the ’queen’s’ temper isn’t good.”

”Why is ’she’ the queen, it’s not like she birthed us, the real queen might already be dead since the king has been birthed.”

As these mosaic ants chit-chatted, a voice came.

”The ant king has been born?”

”Who is it!”

”Over there.”

The mosaic ants turned their gaze toward a sky-reaching tree not far away.

Su Xiao stood on a robust branch, and the reason he had Bubu Wang track these mosaic ants was mainly to understand the current situation in the Country of East Guotuo.

”It’s a human, today’s meat quota is already enough...”

The mosaic ant’s words were cut short as it met Su Xiao’s gaze, the bundle it carried fell to the ground with a thud, revealing human limbs.

”What...are you.”

The gene inherited from insects sensed danger in the mosaic ant.

”A special human.”

A lizard-headed mosaic ant stepped forward, with telekinesis energy surging from its body.

”Ordinary worker mosaic ants have mastered telekinesis, seems like someone accelerated the process.”

Su Xiao did not move from the tree just then, the ground began to shake.

Boom, boom, boom...

Like a war chariot smashing through the forest, a crashing sound, splinters flew, A Mu burst through the fragments and charged at the mosaic ants.

Shrieking, banging, shell cracking, a cacophony of sounds intertwined.

Two minutes later, Su Xiao leaped down from the tree, among the dozen mosaic ants, only three survived: the lizard-headed mosaic ant, kobold mosaic ant, unknown insect mosaic ant (suspected dung beetle).

The three mosaic ants slumped on the ground, either missing arms and legs or having large dents in their torsos.

”I ask, you answer.”

Su Xiao stood before the three mosaic ants and lit a cigarette.

”We won’t betray the queen...”

Bang.

Su Xiao kicked, the head of the suspected dung beetle mosaic ant flew off, it never saw what happened from start to finish.

”You said the king has been birthed? Specifically, when?”

Su Xiao exhaled a puff of smoke, waiting for the remaining two mosaic ants’ reply.

Five seconds, ten seconds,

When ten seconds were up, A Mu grabbed the kobold mosaic ant and smashed it onto the surrounding ground.

With a thud, the twisted mosaic ant was thrown onto the ground, lifeless. Previously, these mosaic ants were cruel and brutal in hunting humans, but now they encountered humans stronger than themselves.

”The king...king was born a day ago.”

The lizard-headed mosaic ant spoke, its voice trembling because it knew that even a slip of a word might lead to its head being kicked off.

”A day ago, the timeline is moved up by four days.”

Su Xiao nodded, continued asking: ”Have your ant legions already disbanded?”

”Yes, the queen weakened to the verge of death after birthing the queen mother, losing the ability to continue reproducing, the legion commanders all left, and a new queen appeared...”

The lizard-headed mosaic ant’s survival instinct was strong, it revealed all known information.

”That’s all I know, can... can you let me go?”

The lizard-headed mosaic ant lowered its head, occasionally glancing at Su Xiao.

”Take me to meet your current queen.”

”This...”

The lizard-headed mosaic ant hesitated, Su Xiao gestured to A Mu, who showed a full set of blunt teeth.

”I meant to resolve it.”

Su Xiao rubbed his forehead; A Mu’s habit of wanting to bite everything seen puzzled him as to how it developed.

”I’ll take you there, don’t kill me!”

The lizard-headed mosaic ant’s survival instinct was indeed strong. It stood up shivering, gulped and walked into the depths of the forest.

Guided by the lizard-headed mosaic ant, Su Xiao quickly arrived at a ’mountain’ made of earth. This ’mountain’ is red - the ant nest.

The ant nest covers a big area, originally ruled by the mosaic ant legion, abandoned now.

”Lead the way.”

Su Xiao looked at the lizard-headed mosaic ant, which stood still.

”The queen...has already left.”

The lizard-headed mosaic ant was severely trembling.

”Left?”

”I truly don’t know why the queen left, maybe she found these resources too scarce so she abandoned us.”

”Oh, then you’re useless now.”

”Damn!”

The lizard-headed mosaic ant lunged at Su Xiao, a big hand approached, but this mosaic ant was a psychic user, an elite among lackeys, it actually dodged A Mu’s big hand by moving sideways.

Squelch.

A silver line flashed by, the lizard-headed mosaic ant stood frozen, looking down at its chest, numb from the chest down.

Thud, the lizard-headed mosaic ant’s upper body fell to the ground, A Mu, who wasn’t very pleased, stomped onto it.

Splatter, green blood splashed, a blue treasure chest rolled from the corpse.

”To East Guotuo Royal Capital.”

Su Xiao picked up the treasure chest, leaving with Bubu Wang and A Mu.

Above the ant nest, a twin-tailed girl witnessed everything below.

”This guy... is as strong as a monster, did you see that blade? Ridiculously fast. Am I really going to compete with such a guy for the ant king’s heart? Must be joking.”

The twin-tailed girl forced a smile; she was a third-tier early-stage contractor.

”This isn’t the worst; four similar monsters lurk near East Guotuo Royal Capital, encountering any of them spells doom for us.”

A man wearing glasses spoke behind the twin-tailed girl; he was the team’s ’brain’, although his IQ was high, he felt powerless facing the current situation.
