Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 44: Chapter 12: Ghouls × Human

Su Xiao stood behind a large tree, and after observing for a moment, he stepped out from behind the trunk.

His sudden appearance startled the high school girl. The Red Eye and Heko were retracted simultaneously, and she looked slightly panicked.

”Who are you, and how did you get here?”

”CCG, Third-class Investigator, Bai Ye.”

”Zhan Long Flash” appeared in Su Xiao’s hand, and the bright blade gleamed coldly under the moonlight.

”A CCG investigator... so the day has finally come.”

The high school girl lowered her head, her hand hidden behind her fell, with bloodstains still not wiped clean from her palm.

Her Heko and Red Eye reappeared; this ghoul’s Heko was a Tail Heko, positioned at the end of her spine, with two in total, only as thick as a finger.

”Did you see my face? My name is Chika, the one who will kill you.”

Chika’s delicate face twisted; this ghoul still had some humanity, but she was a ghoul.

”This park is your hunting ground, isn’t it.”

Su Xiao had basically understood the cause of events; the ghoul he was searching for was Chika standing before him.

”I’ll give you ten seconds to leave a last word.”

Chika was taken aback and looked at Su Xiao amusedly.

”You’re just a Third-class Investigator, and you want me to leave a last word? Just relying on that broken knife in your hand? That thing can’t hurt me.”

”What an odd last word.”

With that, Su Xiao charged forward with his knife.

Fighting, screams, cries...

A minute later, the forest fell silent again. Chika lay on the ground covered in blood, her Heko cut off, and her arms were gone.

”It hurts so much~, so this is how much pain it is to be wounded. No wonder those prey scream so loudly.”

Tears were at the corners of Chika’s eyes. She was just between Level A and S-level ghoul, resolved by Su Xiao in a few slashes.

”Are you going to kill me?”

Su Xiao did not speak, standing beside Chika, raising the ”Zhan Long Flash” in his hand.

”Is it really wrong to live as a ghoul? Haha~, it seems eating humans raw is indeed met with retribution.”

”It’s nothing to do with me; it’s just a task. Farewell forever.”

The long knife slashed down, and blood splattered.

[You have killed an S-level ghoul, Chika.]

[Chika was an ordinary ghoul, obtaining World Source 0.5%, now totaling 5.7% World Source.]

[Your talent ’Soul Devourer’ is activated, permanently increasing 7 mana value, now having 170 mana value in total.]

[Gained 40 CCG Contribution Value.]

Although Chika was an S-level ghoul, she did not drop a treasure chest.

This was not surprising; the gap in strength between Chika and Su Xiao was too significant, indicated by the World Source obtained, showing that Chika had no significant impact on the plot.

Gecko was able to drop a green treasure chest, not because of strong strength, but because of close association with the original work.

Su Xiao took out the special phone for CCG and dialed, explaining the situation to the 14th Ward Subdivision and then hung up.

The following matters did not require his handling; CCG would send someone to handle Chika’s corpse. When Chika’s Kakuhou was extracted, he could earn some contribution value.

Of course, he could also retain this Kakuhou, spending contribution value to make Chika’s Kakuhou into Kuingke.

Kuingke made from an S-class Heterogeneous Package should only be white equipment, so Su Xiao chose to hand over the Kuingke, receiving 10 contribution points.

In this way, Su Xiao’s contribution points became: Third-class Investigator (Contribution Value 50/50), whether to promote position.

Choosing promotion, the position did not change, and Reincarnation Paradise gave a prompt.

[Waiting for feedback from CCG headquarters, estimated time, 3 hours.]

Promoting position is not just a choice, it requires notification from CCG headquarters.

With the influence of Reincarnation Paradise, promotion to Second-level Investigator was certain.

If there was no influence from Reincarnation Paradise, Su Xiao might need several years to be promoted to First-Class Investigator.

This had nothing to do with how many ghouls were expelled; it was a matter of seniority.

Now, with the influence of Reincarnation Paradise, the seniority issue was discarded, and Su Xiao only needed to hunt a large number of ghouls.

Even so, promoting to First-Class Investigator was not easy.

There were six levels for CCG investigators, from low to high: Third-class Investigator, Second-level Investigator, First-grade Investigator, First-Class Investigator, Quasi-Special Investigator, Special Class Investigator.

Third-class was the weakest, Special Class was the strongest.

When Su Xiao returned to the 14th Ward Subdivision, Yukinori Shinohara approached him proactively.

”That’s how the incident unfolded. In any case, the ghoul has been expelled, are there any other ghouls that need expelling?”

Su Xiao described the incident to Yukinori Shinohara, who nodded.

”I have already reported to the headquarters that you expelled an S-level ghoul alone. If there are no unexpected events, you should be promoted to Second-level Investigator because with your ability, Third-class is really too wasteful.

No, Second-level is also somewhat wasteful, but without certain achievements, the headquarters would not promote your position.”

Su Xiao said nothing; he just wanted to continue searching for the next ghoul.

The current situation was that except for him, all Contractors were classified into the Ghoul Camp. In other words, the Contractor target No.12470 he needed to hunt was also in the Ghoul Camp.

Judging by the main storyline task (1.2) with two tasks, the subsequent main storyline task (3) is likely a confrontation task. Otherwise, there would be no need to divide into two camps and activate the balance mechanism.

”If that’s the case, it wouldn’t hurt to provide me with more information on ghouls, Special Class Shinohara.”

Completing the main storyline task (2) earlier would definitely have great benefits.

”Hmm, that’s also a method, but what you need now is rest. It’s already 10 p.m.

Moreover, tomorrow morning I have something to ask of you, or rather, Mr. Matsumae has something to ask of you.”

Su Xiao was somewhat puzzled, but he didn’t ask much. After saying goodbye to Yukinori Shinohara, he headed to the dormitory allocated to him by the 14th Ward CCG Branch, located on the 16th floor of the branch.

-------------------

District 11, Ota District.

The 11th District, being the lair of the Bronze Tree, had almost become a human forbidden zone.

The Bronze Tree repeatedly attacked the 11th District CCG Branch, leading to the human forces in the 11th District being extremely weak. Only near the 11th District CCG Branch, some scattered civilians lived, constantly on edge.

These civilians did not willingly live here; they were trapped. The ghouls of the 11th District trapped them here as emergency ”food,” and nobody, except for the strong investigators, could freely enter or exit the 11th District.

The ghouls living here relied on ”imports” for their human meat supply, which showed how dangerous the 11th District was.

At this time, in a half-finished building on the outskirts of the 11th District, over twenty humans were gathered here.

These twenty people were not a single force; they were divided into three groups, each in varying numbers. These were the Contractors of the Ghoul Camp.

”Han Yu, stop spouting nonsense. The balance mechanism is only because CCG’s power is currently stronger than the Bronze Tree. Don’t set up imaginary opponents for me with this so-called ridiculously strong Contractor.”

A hot-tempered young man with red fiery short hair looked disdainfully at Han Yu.

Han Yu sneered and shook his head; if the other party wasn’t a Fire Element Mage, he wouldn’t have proactively sought an alliance.

”Fire Blast, don’t think that just because I sought you out for an alliance, you can be arrogant.”

Han Yu’s scepter touched the ground, thin ice gradually spreading from his feet. Han Yu was also a mage, but he used the ice method, not strong in attacking, but powerful in control.

”If we weren’t in the same camp, I would have crushed you now.”

Fire Blast gripped the short magic wand in his hand tightly, a heatwave spreading, and a great many sparks appearing around Fire Blast.

Fire Blast’s aura made Han Yu’s face change.

”This feeling~, have you already found a wand that matches your attribute?”

Han Yu looked towards the short magic wand in Fire Blast’s hand.

The short magic wand looked ridiculous, like a fire poker, with a fingernail-sized red crystal stone embedded at the tip, seemingly containing flames burning inside the red crystal.

Fire Blast appeared slightly smug, disdainfully glancing at the scepter in Han Yu’s hand.

”This treasure, I spent 14,000 Paradise coins on it, it was my total income from two worlds, plus the costs of guiding people.”

Fire Blast’s face showed an expression of meat pain, but there was some excitement in the meat pain.

”Lucky guy.”

Han Yu’s eyes were full of envy.

Shaking his head, Han Yu took out a small camcorder from his storage space and tossed it to Fire Blast.

Fire Blast caught the small camcorder, fiddled with it, and his face changed dramatically.

In the camcorder, there was footage of Su Xiao killing Gecko instantly and dominating Li Shi.

Although Fire Blast had a hot temper, he was not brainless; otherwise, he wouldn’t have gathered a temporary adventure group of ten people.

”Let’s form an alliance, Han Yu. In this Derivative World, we must cooperate, or else we’ll all be killed by that monster. After all, to torture and kill S-level ghouls, damn, how did such a monster get into the Ghoul world? This guy’s level is at least Lv.7 or above.

I’ll show my sincerity first, an important piece of intel: the third phase of the main storyline task is a confrontation task. This intel cost me 400 Paradise coins.”

Han Yu sighed in relief; if they formed an alliance with Fire Blast, they might still stand a chance.
