Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 285: Modified: Chapter 178 Farewell_2

Upon arriving at the port, Alka saw Siegert swiftly carrying four packed sacks of golden wheat. Siegert placed them in the cargo hold at the stern of the merchant ship. As Siegert was returning, he spotted Alka watching him. His face lit up with pleasant surprise, and he ran over.

”Alka, you’re back!”

Alka smiled as he approached, embraced him briefly, and patted Siegert on the shoulder. He pointed to the rather thick leather wrist guard on Siegert’s arm. Alka had already keenly noticed that the leather wrist guard encased the golden Magic Bracelet he had given Siegert.

”How is it? This thing is quite handy, isn’t it?”

Hearing Alka’s words, Siegert looked at his arm and touched the leather wrist guard. He said with a smile, ”Of course. I would even say it’s very useful.”

”Good to hear that it’s useful.”

”This isn’t the place to talk. Let’s head back first. Mom’s still at home; she’s mentioned you several times.”

Alka nodded. The two of them then walked through the small town, following the path to the small courtyard. After a glance at the small courtyard, they arrived at Siegert’s home nearby.

Just then, a young woman with a slight tan was cleaning the yard.

”Jenna, I’m back.”

Seeing Siegert, Jenna smiled, walked over, and hugged him. Then she looked at Alka behind Siegert.

”Alka, long time no see.”

The last and only time they’d met was on Tulan Island a few years ago.

”You too,” Alka said with a smile.

He hadn’t expected Siegert to have already brought Jenna home. Last time, Siegert had been so secretive. Could they already be married? Had he really been in this world for so long?

Thinking of this, Alka looked at Siegert.

Siegert nodded and said, ”I married Jenna three months ago.”

”Sorry.”

Three months ago, Alka had still been at sea.

”It’s no big deal, brother,” Siegert said with a smile. Then he looked at Jenna and asked, ”Where’s Mom?”

”Mom went out. She said she’d be back soon.”

Siegert nodded, then led Alka inside the house.

Jenna, seeing that the two seemed to have something to discuss, brought over two glasses of water and then left.

”How long are you staying this time?” Siegert asked, looking at Alka.

Hearing this, Alka looked at him and said, ”Just for a day. I have to leave after that.”

”In such a hurry? When will you be back next? Maybe you can make it for when my child is born. You could be their godfather.”

Hearing this, Alka was slightly surprised.

”Your child?” he said, unable to stop himself from glancing out the window at Jenna, who was cleaning in the yard. He squinted slightly, noticing what seemed to be a gentle curve to her belly.

Siegert nodded. ”Yes, it’s been over three months.”

”Over three months?” Alka asked. He seemed to realize something, leaning back slightly as he gave Siegert a peculiar look.

Seeing Alka’s expression, Siegert looked slightly embarrassed and scratched his cheek. ”It was a bit of an accident, you know.”

So it was a shotgun wedding.

Alka nodded and smiled, then his expression became serious as he looked at Siegert. ”So you’ve made up your mind.”

Hearing Alka’s words and seeing his expression, Siegert nodded. Looking at Jenna outside in the yard, a happy smile appeared on Siegert’s face. Then he sighed and said, ”Although treasure hunting is great and fun...

”When you gave me that manual, I knew what you wanted me to do. I was really tempted at the time. But Jenna’s pregnancy disrupted my plans. Things I’d never considered before suddenly weighed on me, and I had to take responsibility.”

Saying this, Siegert leaned back in his chair. ”Future and family, I chose the latter.”

The simple treasure-hunting experience with Alka on Tulan Island had left a deep impression on Siegert. Later, the strange power Alka possessed fascinated him even more. He had even been preparing to go to sea with Alka the next time he arrived. Until that moment.

Looking at Siegert, Alka nodded in understanding. He knew Siegert was a man who cared for others and had a strong sense of responsibility. His wife, his family, his future child—he couldn’t abandon them. He wasn’t that kind of person.

Siegert suddenly laughed, sat up straight, and looked at Alka. ”Maybe in ten or twenty years, when my child is grown, I can experience the joy of treasure hunting with you again.”

Alka looked at him, sighed, and said, ”I won’t be coming back...”

”What do you mean?” Siegert asked, puzzled.

”This time I’m going to sea, I plan to head beyond the Homeland Sea, to sail more distant waters... I might never return.”

Siegert looked surprised and a little puzzled, but after a moment, his expression softened with understanding. ”Beyond the Homeland Sea... that’s an irresistible temptation for you, indeed.”

Siegert understood.

”Then stay for dinner tonight. You should tell Mom too. Otherwise, if you’re gone for a long time, she’ll definitely be sad.”

”Okay.” Alka nodded.

That was what he had been thinking too.

”Speaking of which, even though you’re not planning to go exploring at sea, you won’t refuse Extraordinary power, will you?”

”Extraordinary power? Of course, I wouldn’t refuse that!” Siegert replied, somewhat surprised.
