Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 270: Chapter 173 Task Delivery_2

Aside from his cooking skills, he had no other notable talents. Even though his culinary expertise was among the top in this sea region, it meant little to powerful individuals like Alka and his team.

He considered himself a part of the Extraordinary World and was keenly aware of how formidable the Treasures and the Three Spirals were in this ocean—they represented absolute top-tier power. At least, that’s what Juanlu believed.

In this oceanic world, power and authority truly held sway.

Seeing the look on Juanlu’s face, Alka smiled and said, ”You didn’t hear wrong. We are indeed recruiting you. We want you to join our team and serve as the ship’s chef.”

”But... but...”

When Alka truly expressed the intention to recruit him, Juanlu suddenly didn’t know how to respond.

Alka and his group’s willingness to recruit him signified his value, which pleased him. However, the thought of actually joining them gave him pause.

Seeing the hesitation on Juanlu’s face, Alka continued, ”That old man you met when you were young—he is very likely someone who returned from the outside world.”

They had heard Juanlu recount this story in detail, and Alka had come to believe the old man was likely someone who had returned from the outside world. That explained why Juanlu, despite reaching his current age and becoming one of the top chefs in the Homeland Sea, still couldn’t compare to that old man’s skill.

The limitations here are too restrictive,

Alka considered. According to the Holy Mother’s doctrine, to ensure this sea region’s safety, its overall power level was deliberately suppressed. Culinary skill isn’t necessarily unrelated to strength. Besides, I know this from reading the Land of Dreams; the Endless Sea truly harbors peculiar creatures and even unparalleled delicacies.”Journey with us to the Endless Sea,” Alka proposed. ”Travel further, explore more, and hone your skills to their peak. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.”

As he spoke, Alka produced a thick book and handed it to Juanlu.

Juanlu took the book Alka handed him, casually opened it, and looked inside.

He couldn’t understand anything.

Seeing this, Alka awkwardly retrieved the book. He had forgotten that Juanlu didn’t understand the White Crocodile Language at all.

So he explained simply, ”This book chronicles experiences from the outside world. Within its pages lie irresistible temptations for a chef: all sorts of never-before-seen ingredients and exquisite delicacies.”

Looking at Juanlu’s conflicted expression, Alka patted his shoulder and said, ”You don’t need to answer me now. We won’t leave for about five months, so you just need to give me a response within the next month.”

”We would very much welcome your joining us.”

Hearing Alka’s words, Juanlu lifted his head to look at him and nodded.

”Thank you.”

He was genuinely grateful that such powerful individuals as Alka and his group treated him with such respect.

However, he had never considered this path before. Suddenly, he didn’t know how to decide. He knew far too little about the outside world and many other matters.

After pondering for a moment, he said, ”I’ll stay in the Great Cathedral for this month to carefully consider whether I want to join you and sail together.”

He knew this was a serious decision, for he had gathered from some of Alka’s team’s unguarded conversations that returning after leaving wouldn’t be easy. He must think it through.

Alka nodded.

Jason walked over, patted Juanlu’s shoulder, and said with a smile, ”If there’s anything you don’t understand about the outside world, or if you want to understand it in more detail, feel free to ask me.”

After all, Jason had already learned the White Crocodile Language, and he had finished reading that book.

Although he hadn’t experienced it firsthand, his theoretical knowledge was sound.

Juanlu nodded and thanked him.

As they approached the island, the Great Cathedral came into view ahead, along with the huge statue of the Holy Mother at the island’s center. Alka turned his head to look at Julia, who was not far away, and the box she always kept near her feet.

”Julia, how is it?”

Hearing Alka’s words, Julia nodded. ”No problem. I’ve done my best to remove my magic power.”

Hearing Julia’s words, Alka nodded. That was good.

After all, Julia had controlled this Treasure, so it still bore traces of her control.

For a Treasure that has been controlled to be taken over by someone else, there are generally three methods: First, the original owner cleanses the Treasure, reclaiming as much of their magic power as possible. This isn’t difficult for the original owner, as controlling one’s own magic power is much easier. However, some remnants might still linger but typically don’t hinder the process. Second, one can wait for the Treasure to automatically dissipate the foreign magic power over time, eventually returning to its most primal state. Third, the new owner actively cleanses the Treasure, removing the original owner’s residual magic power and replacing it with their own. This method can be troublesome and time-consuming, with the difficulty typically depending on the strength of the original owner.

For example, the Bloody Team Banner they possessed still bore traces of Jack’s magic power. Since Alka hadn’t mastered it, he hadn’t been able to cleanse them away.

They had made attempts before, but neither Julia nor Jason had been compatible with the Treasures they encountered. After they exchanged this current Treasure, they would let them try their luck again.
