Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 273: Chapter 174 Mirror Surface_2

However, its practical applications seemed far more potent than its primary power, which the Archbishop had called ’imitation.’ So a Treasure’s most powerful ability isn’t necessarily its primary one? There must be other ways to distinguish between primary and secondary powers, Alka mused. He and the others had always differentiated them based on the sheer strength of a Treasure’s abilities.

Akka couldn’t help but think, It seems Treasures still hold many secrets I don’t know.

He listened as the Archbishop continued, ”There are currently thirteen Touchers inspired by the Mirror Surface who are still alive, including you. You are the only person to be inspired by this Treasure in the past thirty years. This Treasure has a full capacity of one hundred thirty-three Touchers, with one hundred twenty slots currently available.”

Does that mean those who were once inspired don’t live long? Is that what he means? Moreover, Alka was surprised that so many slots remained, with only thirteen filled. It seemed the Church wasn’t very keen on using this Treasure to inspire others.

Why? Could it be because this Treasure’s characteristic attributes aren’t strong enough? After all, among the four Treasures known to be in the Church’s possession, this was the only one that didn’t alter the characteristics of one’s Magic Power. Chadite, Jason, and Andre, who had bonded with different Treasures, each possessed Magic Power with distinct specializations. For an organization, Magic Power with specific specializations could perhaps be more strategically valuable. Of course, these were just Alka’s thoughts and not necessarily accurate.

The Archbishop provided extensive details about the Mirror Surface, information Alka had never known, despite wielding the Dream Catcher for so long. For instance, he still didn’t know the Dream Catcher’s maximum capacity for Touchers.

”As for how to utilize it and what specific abilities it possesses, that will be for you to explore,” the Archbishop said. ”Since no one in the Church has ever truly mastered this Treasure, we are unaware of its specific applications.”

After speaking, the Archbishop winked at Alka and joked with a smile, ”Congratulations, Alka. A rising star, indeed. At just eighteen years old, you’ve gained mastery over two Treasures, becoming a truly powerful individual.”

”Alright, infuse your Magic Power and claim this Treasure. Compared to your previous one, this Treasure will be much easier to control; its compatibility with you is already exceptionally high.”

Hearing this, Alka nodded, closed his eyes, and let Magic Power surge from his arm into the mask. Alka’s Magic Power was now a faint pink, seemingly entwined with wisps of mist.

As his Magic Power flowed into the Mirror Surface, it encountered no resistance. Far from any repulsion, their connection could only be described as a perfect attunement. The Mirror emitted a transparent glow, distorting the surrounding space, making it seem as if countless mirror fragments were materializing.

Alka could feel himself mastering this Treasure with remarkable ease—far more easily than the Dream Catcher. The Mirror Surface seemed not just willing to be controlled by him, but eager.

He opened his eyes and looked at the mask; it was now ordinary, no longer radiating light. Alka willed it to slowly float upwards before settling onto his face. The Mirror Surface began to adjust its size, molding perfectly to Alka’s features as it adhered to his skin.

Alka’s face now appeared to be covered by a layer of liquid mirror. This substance then solidified, forming a mask that reflected the ambient light, mirroring the surrounding scene.

The Archbishop looked at Alka’s face, seeing his own visage reflected back at him. A strange, unsettling feeling washed over him. He couldn’t help but comment, ”Facing this Mirror... it’s genuinely unnerving.” After all, seeing one’s own face reflected on another person’s is profoundly unsettling.

Alka’s mirror-mask began to melt and converge, flowing rapidly towards his forehead. There, above his eyebrows, a mirrored strip approximately one decimeter long and five millimeters wide materialized on his forehead.

This was a sign of complete mastery over a Treasure—the ability to merge it with one’s body, though some of its characteristics would remain visible. This integration also served Alka’s safety and allowed for more effective use of the Treasure.

”It seems you’re quite fortunate,” the Archbishop remarked, having observed Alka’s effortless mastery of the Treasure. ”Not only do these two Treasures coexist peacefully within you, but they also possess a fair degree of compatibility.” Alka indeed appeared very much at ease.

Upon hearing the Archbishop’s words, Alka looked at him and asked, ”What are the benefits of such mutual compatibility?”

”The benefits are numerous. For instance, it prevents conflicts between them. Even Treasures that coexist peacefully can sometimes clash. This means you can wield both Treasures simultaneously without expending excessive effort to control them. Their abilities might even prove to be complementary.”

”Some Treasures, despite being complementary, are difficult to control due to inherent conflicts. As for how your abilities will synergize, that is something you will have to discover for yourself.”

Hearing this, Alka nodded. I’ll need to explore this thoroughly, he resolved.

After finishing, the Archbishop patted the table, stood up, and said, ”Alright, you probably aren’t in the mood to chat with an old man like me any longer. You should head back. Remember the date of the Convergence. Don’t forget it, or who knows when the next opportunity will arise.”

Hearing this, Alka nodded, preparing to rise and bid his farewells.
